The Diego Martin Borough Corporation, in conjunction with YTEPP, the Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme held an orientation for the final module of their collaborative initiative, the Business Incubator Programme, at the Maraval Community Centre on Monday evening. 00:04Deputy Mayor of Daigle-Martin, Valicia Sukdar,
00:07gave an insight into what a business incubator program is and its aim.
00:12A business incubator program gives very early stage companies access to education,
00:19training, mentorship, investors and other supports to help them get established.
00:26By working with these early stage businesses,
00:29these incubators help entrepreneurs move beyond their ideation stage
00:33into stable and sustainable business models.
00:37She also made mention of the promising numbers achieved in the program thus far.
00:42Reflecting on our incubator programs at Bagatelle, Daigle-Martin, South and Karanaj,
00:48we are encouraged as we have achieved a 70% completion rate.
00:53And today, with the addition of 21 new participants in Maraval,
00:58we will have had a total of 187 participants in this program to date.
01:04Business Development Manager at YTEP, Darren Winchester,
01:08told those present about YTEP's interest in the program.
01:11We are all about business and business development.
01:15We are all about ensuring that whatever idea you have as a seed
01:23emerges into the business that you have visualized it to be.
01:31We are interested as a company in seeing your business grow.
01:34We are interested as a company in seeing your business develop.
01:37And we are interested as a company in our relationship with you
01:40that sees the business find itself in different forms.
01:44That ensures that it grows.
01:47Past participants of the program, Francisca Brown Matter,
01:51who is now an entrepreneur and the proud owner of Francisca's Delights,
01:55shared what the program did for her.
01:58This program is truly a springboard.
02:02It equipped me with the tools and knowledge I needed to turn my business concept
02:13into a concrete plan.
02:16Brown Matter urged the new participants to build relationships,
02:20share their ideas, and use each other's experiences.
02:24She also shared some advice with them as they are about to begin the same journey
02:28she embarked on while in the program.

02:35This program strives on discussion and constructive criticism.
02:44Don't be afraid to put your ideas out there.
02:53Even if you feel unpolished, the feedback you receive from instructors
03:01and fellow participants will be invaluable and strengthen your plan.
