00:00People are set to benefit from a new training program aimed at boosting their skill set.
00:05As the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service launches the FUSE introductory Linesman LineClearer training program.
00:13According to the ministry, participants will be trained in the overhead line construction and maintenance industry.
00:19And they'll be trained to do landscaping and tree trimming in a non-energized environment.
00:26Some of you who are in this program, when you are completed with this program
00:30and you want to get involved in some level of business associated with it,
00:34we have the micro and small enterprise development grant.
00:38Which is a grant of $20,000 that you can apply to NEDCO once you have your business plan
00:43and get access to this startup capital to start your own business.
00:46So you're not starting with a loan.
00:49We want to create employers as opposed to job seekers.
00:58The 12-month program will be rolled out at locations in El Socorro and California, according to Cummings.
01:04And each participant will receive a stipend of $100 per day.
01:08Cummings also says the government is working on reintroducing youth development centers,
01:13formerly called trade centers.
01:16Some people, there's something called borders.
01:19And some people from one area can't go to the next, or else they may not return.
01:26So understanding that reality, and because we can't solve the whole problem at the same time,
01:31we do not want to leave any youth behind.
01:35We are opening a suite of non-residential youth development centers.
