00:00This lunchtime protest by the Communication Workers Union bears a special significance, shares the Secretary-General, Joanne Ogier.
00:08So today was just another day as we celebrated coming back out on the streets, you know, as it pertains
00:14to Section 3, the Trade and Protection of Property Act, resuming what we do best, calling those to account, and
00:22of course going to the workplace to make our grievances known.
00:26Ogier says the demonstration is unrelated to the pre-action protocol letters sent to her by TSTT executives and Public
00:35Utilities Minister Barry Padaroff.
00:37This protest, as I would have intimated, has had nothing to do with the noise and the destruction, which the
00:42union is referring to as any pre-action protocol letters. The union, we have our battery of attorneys treated with
00:49that.
00:49Among the union's outstanding concerns is a proposed 10% wage increase covering two bargaining periods.
00:58When the 10% talk arose in the past, it came from five proposals, which four were refused, and one
01:08seemed favorable, to which we crunched numbers, and that was the agreed position between the company, two executives of the
01:17company, and the union's executives, which went to the board of directors, and we were told the chairman, Mr. Kern
01:24-Dazs, said no.
01:25The union is also questioning the process surrounding the investigation into TSCT Chief Executive Officer, Keno Cox, who has been
01:33placed on administrative leave.
01:35Persons would have seen two senior executives, their names in the newspaper, and we are concerned about that as well,
01:42because if you are having an investigation, and two persons may be, I'm just saying allegedly, assisting in this investigation.
01:51One, is the investigation independent, who are the investigators, and why did the company see it fit to release two
01:59senior employees' names in the public domain like that?
02:05And this is troubling, and we are asking ourselves, did the CEO, Mr. Reza, who signed, did he give authorization
02:11for that?

02:15The CWU says it intends to continue pressing for answers on the issues affecting its membership.
