Amid claims of wanton wastage, ineptitude and alleged corruption at TSTT, the Communication Workers' Union is putting the heat on an unlikely target - the Minister of Finance.

During protest action outside TSTT on Tuesday, CWU General Secretary Joanne Ogeer told the media that the Union provided the Minister with valuable insider information two years ago, but to date, nothing has been done. Rynessa Cutting has more.

00:00 So we are putting pressure on the Prime Minister, we are putting pressure on the Minister of
00:07 Public Utilities to investigate who muzzled Lisa Agard from reporting directly to the
00:12 Minister of Public Utilities, who muzzled the former CEO to letting the public know
00:17 the truth about what happened in the cyber attack. The questions that nobody seemed to
00:21 be asking.
00:22 With TSTT's former Chief Executive Officer and former Chief Financial Officer both speaking
00:28 out against alleged impropriety at the utility following their dismissals, the Communication
00:34 Workers Union is saying "I told you so" and its General Secretary says not only did they
00:40 tell, but they also provided evidence to substantiate their claims.
00:45 Only when they were ousted out of office, you are hearing all about this corruption,
00:48 you are hearing all about deals, you are hearing all about wanton wastage and we have been
00:51 talking about that for time immemorial.
00:54 So it means then that the problem or problems are still within the organisation, you are
00:58 not able to identify and do what?
01:01 I would answer you by saying we gave the Minister of Finance and Co-operation, Sol, the Honourable
01:08 Colm Imbo, I believe it was a 7 to 10 page document identifying wanton wastage and alleged
01:15 corruption. We did that February 15, 2022. He promised in three weeks time he would give
01:21 a report on that audit. So we are aware of some of the corruption and that is why I keep
01:25 saying and I keep hinting, if he did what he was supposed to do and furnish the union
01:31 three weeks after February 15, 2022, we would not be in this position because I am certain
01:37 having revealed the corruption that he must have found, three quarters of them would not
01:41 be sitting upstairs.
01:43 So that is why I am saying I am resting 99.9% of the blame at the feet of the Minister of
01:51 Finance and Co-operation, Sol.
01:53 The union further alleges that the public is still being misled about the cyber attack.
01:59 I have a copy of the checkpoint report and I wish to publicly state and contradict the
02:05 utterances whereby the administrator, her name has been bandied about in the public
02:10 domain and I want to call upon those who are placing the individual, him or her, name in
02:15 the public domain. It is not true. And I am calling on those who have indicated that she
02:20 is responsible for the cyber breach. As the hack came to her admin, I want persons to
02:25 prove where is it, in which report, is it the checkpoint report that clearly stated
02:31 he or she was locked out for six to nine years. We have a lot of information.
02:35 Calling the entire entity a rudderless ship, the union lamented that three of the execs
02:41 are currently in Barcelona for a conference while workers are begging for scraps.
02:47 All the company have to tell us, I could give you a bowl of soup as an appreciation, not
02:53 meat in the soup, corn soup, right? After they have allegedly spent $8 million in carnival,
03:00 what is the return? But these are the workers who built the company, the persons who are
03:04 building the company, and you are telling us zero, zero, zero, while you are in Barcelona
03:09 and you all are driving all different kind of vehicles, you paid somebody in PR $3 million
03:15 to leave, poorly positioned, redundant, and you brought Kamal George here and I am sure
03:19 you are making more than $40,000 to do what?
03:22 The CWU is promising to keep up protest action and says in the coming days it will expose
03:29 one particular exec. Renassa Kutting, TV6 News.
