Pancake day: Justasia's perfect pancakes

00:00 Today I'm on my way to Just Asia in Northend, a popular cafe known for its Pan-Asian delights.

00:08 Of course, it was a no-brainer that we try out their Ube Pancakes for Shrove Tuesday

00:13 as a twist on the traditional crepe-style pancake I have every year.

00:18 Made from purple yam, a root vegetable, the pancakes are given a vivid, bright purple

00:22 appearance which has a nutty and sweet flavour.

00:26 Just Asia has an offering of 5 staples - the honey and butter, sweet pandan, mango biscoff,

00:32 choco sticco and their staple, the Ube Crema.

00:41 The Ube Crema is a stack of 3 thick and cake-style pancakes drizzled with the vanilla infused

00:47 purple ube.

00:48 When cutting into it, you can see the oozy goodness of the cream spill out of the pancakes

00:53 and it tastes just as good as it looks.

00:56 The portion sizes here are huge so maybe it's worth sharing with a friend.

01:04 We also ordered the mango biscoff and the sweet pandan which were bright green in colour.

01:10 We are told by our server this is from the pandan plant which has fragrant leaves people

01:15 extract flavours from for many traditional Filipino recipes.

01:20 The mango one is just as good and the texture of the sauce resembles a mango smoothie.

01:47 The pancakes were delicious, they resembled the American style of pancakes but with the

01:52 addition of the ube flavours from the purple ram root vegetable plant.

01:57 I also liked how there was cream in the middle of the sack when you cut into it.
