00:00I'm Andrew Jackson and I'm the programme leader for this scheme working for National Highways.
00:04And can you just explain National Highways' role in this project?
00:08So National Highways operates and maintains the strategic road network or the motorways and trunk roads
00:14and our role here is to work with Hampshire County Council to integrate this box slide into the M27
00:22and we want to make sure that it is done as safely as possible to the right standard and as quickly
00:27with as little disruption to the customers as we can possibly manage.
00:31And how unique is using this box slide method?
00:34It is not unique in UK but it is a rare experience. You can see the complexity and the scale of this.
00:42It doesn't happen very often is the answer to that question.
00:45And tell us a little bit about your role in letting people know about the road closures over Christmas and New Year period.
00:51So we're very closely working with Hampshire County Council on the diversion route here on the M27
01:00and the diversion route will be on the A27. National Highways will also be making sure that we use our signage
01:06much more broadly and out as far as the M25 and the M4 to warn drivers in advance of this closure and make
01:14sure they're aware of any possible delays so that they can choose to change their route or go a different
01:19way should they need to. And what's the overall benefits to the M27 obviously when this project is
01:24started? It's going to be huge. It's going to be an always junction so it's going to be a much better
01:30junction for the local community but more important than that it was also enable the economic development
01:35which is the 6,000 homes that have been built near this site.
