From brutally cold air in Baltimore and Buffalo to rain in San Francisco, here's how the weather could play a role in the coming weekend's playoff matchups.
Transcript
00:00 Well passionate football fans braved the elements for yesterday's playoff game in
00:04 Orchard Park, New York. The Buffalo Team Mafia celebrated in snow and frigid air.
00:10 Here's Bernie Raynaud with a close look at conditions for more playoff games this
00:14 weekend. Yeah it is the divisional round of the playoffs for the NFL this weekend.
00:21 Now weather will have some impact. I don't think it's quite as large as the
00:26 impact with the wild card weekend here but here's the slate of games here. In
00:30 the NFC the weather game is going to be here. Green Bay at San Francisco of
00:34 course. Tampa Bay at Detroit they play that in Ford Field. That's a dome. Both
00:39 the AFC games we're going to be dealing with cold. Not as cold as it was in
00:44 Kansas City though on Saturday night where temperatures were below below zero
00:49 and actually where the real field temperatures were 20 to 30 degrees below
00:53 zero here. But here's the story in the east as we head into this weekend. Cold
00:57 air mess. I think the coldest weekend of the season coming. The core of the cold
01:02 is really during the day on Saturday and then it will start to leave late in the
01:06 day on Sunday. But certainly we're going to be looking at widespread cold no
01:10 doubt about that and it will impact both AFC games. I mean this is a cold day in
01:15 Baltimore. On Saturday we kick things off at 430. Temperatures in the 20s. Acua
01:21 the real field temperatures in the single numbers will have some sunshine.
01:24 Now they're going to get heavy bands of lake effect snow again over the next
01:28 couple of days in Buffalo including the Orchard Park area where we're probably
01:32 going to see another one to two feet of snow. But by the time we get in the
01:35 weekend that snow should be gone. More of a northwest flow. I don't think we're
01:40 looking at any problems here and they'll be able to clear the stands. I think
01:43 this time temperatures in the 20s. Acua the real field temperatures in the
01:47 single numbers. Let's take you out to the west coast. Big game for me. Some
01:51 rain. It's a wet pattern late this weekend and next week in San Francisco.
01:55 I think we're looking at at least some showers if not some rain during the
01:58 game for Green Bay in San Francisco and Santa Clarita temperatures in the 60s
02:03 really quickly outside of Ford Field on Sunday afternoon. It's cold indoors
02:07 though. It's nice and toasty for the Buccaneers and the Lions.
