00:25by now tears his achilles non-contact that's the way it always is and the indianapolis colts say
00:31there's nobody in america that can fill the shoes of daniel jones better than a 44 year old philip
00:41rivers who is eligible for the hall of fame i think he's in the final 26 this year he is he is 44
00:47years old he's got grandkids hasn't thrown a pass in five years you see him right there and the
00:53colts are like there's nobody else alive that we could possibly find that could give us competent
00:59football to win a game or two very tough schedule of the final month we'll get to that later on
01:05and philip rivers yesterday gets signed to their practice squad and if he is activated for a game
01:11clearly he will be because you don't sign him to the practice squad after a tryout or a workout with
01:17the team if he didn't look decent in that workout so philip rivers is going to start i think this
01:24sunday for the colts a lot of people are saying don't start against the seattle seahawks you know
01:29a very good defense the rest of their schedule is hard and they don't have the luxury now of let's
01:35give 44 year old philip rivers two weeks to get ready to play what amounts to a playoff game for the
01:43colts but that's not the point i want to make here the point i want to make here is the treatment
01:47of daniel jones who is literally five weeks away from getting a contract north of 200 million dollars
01:58to become the future franchise quarterback for the colts moving forward right he was and we
02:03we can all agree that that was happening it's going in that direction it was and he had all the leverage
02:09before the injuries he had all the left that's right he's on a one-year deal it was a make good
02:13deal after the you know the way things ended in new york that being traded or being released and
02:17signing with minnesota and then of course signing on really to be the backup to anthony richardson
02:22getting the job killing it eight and one on one point and now they're eight and five and most people
02:28myself i think you included now will tell you the colts are not making the playoffs this year and
02:32there's a better chance they're eight nine when the season's over then over 500 but that's not the
02:38point and they don't have a first round pick the first round pick right correct so the future is
02:44not bright for the colts and you know danny jones is out for at least a year right so i know this is
02:50a stopgap measure going out to get a 44 year old philip rivers it just doesn't make any sense obviously
02:55but i want to get back to the sports being fickle part okay here's sports being fickle and i i hate to

04:03rivers is taking in his return to the indianapolis colts out of five years of retirement if you

04:58given daniel jones his number 17 to philip rivers now that he's returning to be their starting
05:05quarterback that's that's that's disrespectful that is i know that was his number yeah i know he's got
05:10a borderline hall of fame career i know it's all the respect and you know if the number's available
05:15you want to give it to him but daniel jones is still on the roster yes and while he's not playing
05:21another game because of the injury that right there all tied up in a nice little neat bow
05:28is the fickleness of professional sports the guy gave his leg and his achilles to your franchise
05:37and let's be honest three months into the season or just under he was the story of the nfl
