A warning to the public as New Year's day 2024 approaches and the curtains close on 2023.

You can be fined for fireworks. TTPS Media Ambassador, Sergeant Ancil Forde says they issued the caution today.

00:00 Sergeant Ford says the Summary Offences Act 1102 identifies fireworks as
00:06 including bombs, torpedoes and rockets. He further explains Section 99 and its
00:14 restrictions. It speaks about fireworks in tongues, right? And they identify tongues
00:20 to be the city of Portisby, city of San Fernando, the borough of Arima, right? And
00:26 it speaks to anywhere within two miles of the boundaries of those tongues that
00:35 it is unlawful to discharge fireworks, right? And if it is you do so, it carries
00:42 a penalty of a fine of $1,000. He is also warning the young ones against
00:48 playing with these explosive devices. There were videos on social media with
00:54 young persons discharging fireworks at each other. Yes. Right? They were
01:00 discharging fireworks at homes. They were discharging fireworks in vehicles
01:07 occupied with other people, right? And we hope that persons understand that those
01:14 behaviors, they are not safe. And you need to, I want to say, stop it. With just
01:22 days before the close of 2023, he is pleading with persons to remember the
