00:00Following the 2023 Miss Grand International debacle,
00:05Pachon franchise holders crowned two in a low-key competition over the weekend.
00:10The 2023 leg saw the crowning of Venezuelan national
00:15Milady Maturano as Miss Grand International TNT.
00:20Public outcry followed as locals questioned whether a relatively new migrant
00:25could do TNT justice on an international stage,
00:29and if sending a non-national indicated that Trinidad and Tobago
00:33does not have sufficiently beautiful nor qualified individuals to fit the global showcase.
00:39Maturano subsequently stepped down after she said organizers told her
00:44she was to foot her own bill to the international pageant in Vietnam,
00:48which she claimed was not the initial agreement.
00:52Rebecca Hislop, the first runner-up, eventually represented TNT at the 2023 event.
00:58This year's event saw the crowning of Mr. Princess Town Idris Ali
01:03as Mr. Grand Trinidad and Tobago 2024.
01:07The first runner-up was Dylan Wilkinson, Mr. Morvar,
01:11and the second runner-up, Isaiah Reynolds, Mr. Arima.

01:30The duo crowned at the Dennis P. Ramdan Complex will now go on to represent TNT
01:36at the Mr. and Miss Grand International 2024 competitions, respectively.
01:43Managing Director of SPL Pageants, Kara Ramsubag, the local franchise holder,
01:48congratulated the winners, saying this year organizers were blown away
01:52by the growth they've seen in both the public interest in the grand franchise
01:56and the number of delegates wanting to enter the pageant.
02:00She said all delegates could have easily represented TNT
02:03with distinction upon any international stage.
02:07Commenting on the 2023 debacle, Ramsubag says,
02:11While last year's pageant, like all pageants, was not void of external criticism,
02:17we at SPL remain resolute in the fairness and transparency of the entire process.
02:23Hearing the public's feedback last year only served to reinforce
02:27the commitment to transparency of our process this season."
02:32She credited Rebecca Hislop for rising to the occasion as a warrior,
02:36although she was called upon at the very last minute to represent TNT in Vietnam.
02:42Casting for the upcoming 2025 season, Ramsubag says, will start shortly, adding,
02:48We have seen the flame of pageantry has been reignited within our population
02:54and we look forward to seeing it spread and flourish in the upcoming years.
