4 out of 10 adult Filipinos are obese, according to a latest study by the Science and Technology department. With this, experts remind the public how we should eat this holiday season.

00:35 The latest nationwide survey by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the DOST
00:41 flags the rising number of Filipinos who are obese.
00:44 Four out of ten adult Filipinos were overweight in 2022, higher than pre-COVID times.
00:51 More infants were found to be overweight too, nine for every 100 babies.
00:57 The percentage of obese school children 6 to 12 years old also doubled in a span of three years.
01:04 Even if the population of stunted children has shrunk, it's not just food to blame for obesity.
01:11 The survey shows fewer people exercise at least two hours a week.
01:15 Both kids and adults have to drop their gadgets and at least take a walk.
01:20 That's the main cause of overweight and obesity in the country.
01:24 It's not more on food really, but then it matters then the type of food to be eaten
01:30 and of course the amount of food to be consumed.
01:33 There are also more binge drinkers or those who take more than four drinks in a row.
