00:00And first, what are bad fats?
00:03Bad fats are like saturated fats.
00:06Crispy fat.
00:07Okay.
00:08Because it's not tasty.
00:10How is that?
00:11I want that.
00:12Okay.
00:13My favorite is lechon kawali.
00:15Lechon kawali.
00:16That's bad.
00:17Oh yeah.
00:18The fat in the lechon kawali and the oil, of course.
00:21It's bathing in oil right when we cook it.
00:24Yeah.
00:25So those are the bad fats.
00:26Swine.
00:27Sugar.
00:28Pati asukal.
00:29You can get metabolic-associated fatty liver disease from sugar?
00:35Yeah, because sugar pushes you to have diabetes, right?
00:39And that's also part of the metabolic constellation that they both mentioned earlier.
00:46So that's also like a risk.
00:48So Dr. Solano, maybe you can take that first.
00:52These people in the room might be asking, wait a second.
00:56My sugar is high enough as it is?
00:58May problema pa ako?
00:59Pwede ako magka-fatty liver?
01:00Ang dali ko lang mag-problema.
01:02Diba?
01:03Because when they go to the doctor, the doctor will say, hey, your sugar's borderline, ah?
01:08Hindi pala yung titik, but borderline.
01:10So Doc, how is that related?
01:13People are thinking, why is it my sugar's high?
01:16How is that related to my fatty liver?
01:19E fatty na ang term.
01:21Good question, Karen.
01:23Good question, Karen.
01:24Of course, when you study biochemistry in medical school,
01:28we know that part of the carbohydrate that's digested in the liver
01:33basically turns into cholesterol.
01:35So there's a link between carbohydrates and fat.
01:40And that is why when you just become obese or you become diabetic
01:45or with just a condition of high blood sugar,
01:48eventually that can turn into some diabetic problems in the liver.
02:18May problem be vegetables, or just a little bit of fattening food.
02:23Less rice in their meals.
02:26I hope they exercise.
02:29And they have a lot of activities that they don't just do on their cellphones.
02:33I think that's the kind of education we need in the primary part of their lives.
02:39And this is happening in schools.
02:42That will really help a lot.
02:58Yeah, so yung sinabi ko kanina yung give liver a voice.
03:01Kasi diba silent talaga sya.
03:03Diba sinabi nga ramin.
03:05Especially at the early stage, wala.
03:07Pag may naramdaman ka na, complicated na yun.
03:10Yun na yung fibrosis, cirrhosis, pangat na yung liver.
03:13Our campaign really is to educate.
03:15So we're partnering with the Hepatology Society of the Philippines,
03:19even the Philippines Society for Gastroenterology.
03:21So, not just on doctor education, but also patient education and consumer education.
03:27In fact, even with the pharmacists.
03:29Kasi diba, pharmacists are also frontliners.
03:32So that's why we're also partnering with them.
03:34Kasi especially, patients, we see them, pag bumunta sa botika, diba, nagtatanong eh.
03:41So we're also educating the pharmacists in terms of fatty liver,
03:46the complications, how to manage, diagnose, etc.
03:50So yun, yun yung talagang campaign namin.
03:52Right now really, as you have seen, education, awareness is very important.
03:58That's why we're really looking at ways on how to educate.
04:02At sabi mo nga diba, hanggang yung laylayan. Diba?
04:10Of course, there will be more campaigns later on.
04:13So ano pong yung mga gagawin niyo pang campaigns to really put fatty liver into the spotlight,
04:22So aside from the education and awareness programs,
04:26so yun nga, we're also partnering with some stakeholders, even at the global level.
04:30Kasi nga, yun yung policy shaping, importante rin diba yan.
04:34So and then also the other relevant stakeholders.
04:37So yun. And then also, once we educate and then increase awareness,
04:42kasi diba, when we reach to these patients, we also get to know,
04:46ano pa ba yung data gaps? Ano pa ba yung kailangan nila?
04:49So maybe from there, we can also determine further campaigns,
04:56the ones that are needed talaga.
05:03I mean, many Filipinos are not aware na of fatty liver disease.
05:13not aware pa sa fatty liver disease and how are they becoming more aware of it?
05:18Okay. So dapat talaga, with your help also, anuhin natin nila.
05:23There is this thing as fatty liver.
05:31hindi ko magkakaroon ng fatty liver because there's non-alcoholic,
05:34there's alcoholic fatty liver disease.
05:36And then there are also a lot of risk factors.
And then, yun nga, too much sugar, too much fats.
05:52Even the mere diagnosis of diabetes, hypertension, obesity,
05:57pwede ka magkaroon ng fatty liver.
05:59So I think the awareness talaga, sabihin natin sa kanila,
06:02para malami nila, ay, there's this disease pala.
06:05And then, yun nga, again, all those things will follow.
