Downward trend seen in food insecurity, associated health outcomes
Dr. Mildred Guirindola, Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) chief science research specialist, says on July 3, 2025 that there was a 'downward trend in both food insecurity and its associated health outcomes.' Speaking in a press conference, Guirindola said this meant 'fewer Filipino households were experiencing inadequate food access, and this correlates with better nutrition metrics across vulnerable groups. Nearly a third of Filipino households continue to experience some level of food insecurity, particularly those in rural areas and low-income communities.
