00:00 The 148-day writers' strike, the second longest in Writers Guild of America history, has been
00:05 called to an end.
00:06 The strike concluded at midnight on Wednesday, thanks to a vote from Guild leadership that
00:11 authorized members to return to work after the tentative agreement the union reached
00:15 with studios and streamers on Sunday night.
00:18 The WGA negotiating committee lifted the restraining order, saying, "This allows writers to return
00:23 to work during the ratification process, but does not affect the membership's right to
00:27 make a final determination on contract approval."
00:30 The end of the strike doesn't mean that the tentative agreement is a sure thing.
00:33 Union members still need to vote to ratify the contract, which will take place between
00:37 October 2 and October 9.
00:40 The news brings to an end one half of a double strike not seen in over 60 years in Hollywood.
00:45 SAG-AFTRA still remains out on strike, and neither that union nor the AMPTP have announced
00:50 any new bargaining dates for the parties yet.
