00:00Sarah Michelle Gellar has a message for Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans upset about Hulu deciding
00:05to cancel the revival. The actress addressed fan backlash during an appearance on SiriusXM's
00:10Page Six radio, pushing back on calls for the scrapped pilot directed by Oscar winner Chloe Zhao
00:16to leak online. I hope the pilot leaks somehow because I want to see it so bad. I actually hope
00:21it doesn't because then everyone's going to have an opinion on this and that and pilots are not
00:28finished. It wasn't done. She added that the Buffy team intentionally made the pilot first rather
00:33than in full season to test new characters and redefine the story, noting even the original Buffy
00:39pilot looked very different from what ultimately aired. Gellar also warned fans against reading any
00:44leaked scripts. I know I've seen a version of the script out there. It's not actually correct.
00:48Oh, okay. That stuff is really unfortunate and I ask fans if you see scripts, if you see it leaked,
00:56don't watch it because you're not getting our visions and all of that.
01:00The actress emphasized that the reboot deserves respect, adding that she felt compelled to speak
01:04out when she didn't see that happening. As for what fans can do now, Gellar kept it simple,
01:10streamed the original Buffy and support her new film Ready or Not 2, Here I Come, which hits theaters
01:15this weekend. Behind the scenes, sources say they filmed the pilot but ultimately didn't come
01:19together creatively. While revisions improved the first episode, the studio reportedly decided that the
01:25overall season wasn't working, opting against both a reshoot and a series order. In a statement,
01:31Disney praised Gellar, Zhao, and producer Gail Berman as incredible partners, adding that the
01:36decision was not a reflection of the creative team. Gellar has also revealed that the project faced
01:40challenges from the start, claiming one key executive openly admitted he wasn't a fan of the original
01:46series. Still, she says both she and Zhao are focused on the bigger picture, acknowledging their
01:51disappointment but choosing to celebrate the work and what comes next. Be sure to head over to
