00:04The two longtime stars on the ABC medical drama are departing the series at the end of the
00:09currently airing 22nd season. For both actors, their final episode will be the season finale,
00:14which airs on Thursday, May 7th on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.
00:19McKidd joined Grey's Anatomy during season 5 in 2008. After his directorial debut in season 7,
00:25he has gone on to direct a whopping 48 episodes to date. He will also pull double duty and direct
00:30his final episode with the season finale. Meanwhile, Raver joined Grey's in season 6 in
00:352009 in a recurring role. She was up to series regular later in season 6. Raver then left the
00:41show after three seasons, returning briefly in 2017's season 14 and coming back as a series
00:47regular ever since 2018's season 15. She has also directed three episodes over the course of the
00:52series. Their characters, Owen and Teddy, have a long-standing on-again-off-again relationship.
00:57The doctors came on to the show as best friends from their previous time spin in the army,
01:02and finally acted on their feelings for one another when Teddy returned in season 14.

01:13They got married in season 18 and have two children together, but split up recently,
01:17finalizing their divorce at the beginning of this season. However, creator Shonda Rhimes is hinting
01:21that the beloved doctors will get a happy ending. She said in a statement about their departures,
01:27over the years we have had the privilege of watching Owen and Teddy's love story evolve and
01:31deepen, two characters who always seem to find their way back to each other. It is both bittersweet
