00:02 >> So many questions for the Super Bowl 56 rematch all circulating around
00:07 the right calf of Joe Burrow.
00:10 Dr. Chow, let's start with his availability tonight.
00:13 He is listed as questionable from what you've seen in the opening two weeks of
00:17 this year and what you have heard from the Bengals as they approach this Monday
00:22 night football game.
00:23 Dr. Chow, do you expect Joe Burrow to be out there tonight for Cincinnati?
00:28 >> So here's my injury analysis and it's different than injury reporting, right?
00:33 So we're not just taking what other people are saying or the team is saying.
00:37 And having been in the room when it happened, so to speak, and
00:40 helped to make these discussions and decisions.
00:43 Look, medical will have a vote, Joe Burrow and his team will have a vote,
00:46 the team will have a vote.
00:48 But here are the factors fans and people need to think and realize.
00:53 I don't believe that there's anything like a true game time decision.
00:57 Teams always know and they'll confirm it before the game.
01:01 But here as I read the tea leaves, first of all is if it were clear,
01:06 if it were possible that one week of rest would get Joe Burrow all the way better.
01:11 Everyone would rest him, but that's just not the case.
01:14 This was a July 27th calf strain.
01:17 It's still lingering.
01:18 Week one was fine, week two it came up again.
01:21 One week isn't gonna change his trajectory even if he gets through.
01:24 So it's a matter of can he play and be effective?
01:28 And can he do permanent damage?
01:29 I don't think he can do permanent damage.
01:31 Of course he could make it worse.
01:33 And here's the other thing.
01:35 If they were actually thinking about resting him, and that was kind of the plan,
01:40 why put him out there for any practice?
01:42 Just rest him and take the time.
01:45 So with all this stuff, I think what Mike Brown said to Joe Burrow on the cart ride
01:50 is we appreciate you, we want you for the long term, let's not be stupid here.
01:55 But I think they're clearly thinking about trying to play him.
01:58 And will they or not remains to be seen.
02:01 But they're trying to play him.
02:03 Maybe they'll put a active assist ankle dynamic AFO on to help with the calf.
02:09 And help prevent any potential Achilles, a terrible rupture scenario.
02:16 But I think they're trying to play him.
02:18 Will they or not will be the question.
02:20 And of course they don't even have Brandon Allen, they're 0-2.
02:22 We all know about all that stuff.
