03:26jumping into smackdown i get it it's been a hot minute however this week was my 50th birthday it's

03:31been a crazy weekend so i haven't had a lot of time to get to these things i hope you

03:34understand

03:34work-life balance for me and uh let's get into it smackdown opening the show with sammy zane

03:39in the ring talking trash to nick aldis there's obviously some tension there he gets interrupted

03:44by johnny gargano johnny gargano i love that he's finally being put into something substantial after

03:49all those months planking all this other stupid stuff he's finally getting a legitimate role in

03:53wwe and if you remember when he was down at nxt triple h was all on favor of of and

03:59pushing this

03:59guy making him a focal part of the program and then once he got to the main roster vince

04:03man i don't think ever saw anything in him and after he got to the main roster was treated that

04:07way it's very difficult for somebody like triple h to just rectify that now over the last couple

04:12years hopefully this what we're seeing right now is a renaissance of his character he's going to move

04:16back up the card and be considered a legitimate challenger and let's be honest if you look at

04:20somebody like sammy zane sammy zane's not the biggest wrestler in the world but he's the wwe

04:24undisputed champion right now there is no reason to believe that johnny gargano i'm not saying he's

04:29going to win the wwe championship by any stretch but i have no problem with him being in the position

04:34they're currently putting him into because i think he's waited and bided his time he saw his tag team

04:39partner leave tomaso ciampa and go to aew he's done everything they've asked him to do he's stuck with

04:43the company even though they let him go originally brought him back all the things he's been through

04:47and this is kind of where he's finally getting some payoff he's finally getting a chance to be a part

04:51of

04:51the premium programming now when he comes out he's talking about how he's owed a championship shot sammy

04:56said something to the effect of he would take care of him implying that that wasn't what he meant

05:00but gargano wants to be the first one to challenge him however aldis sets the record straight

05:04cm punk he in his opinion is the first one to get a title shot but they get interrupted by

05:09kevin

05:09owens who comes out and immediately lays out johnny gargano um he makes it very clear that he wants

05:14the championship opportunity talks all sorts of trash about sammy zane sammy zane is going to alist

05:20and aldis and basically likening this to his first championship reign how like they're going to slip

05:24punk in the first reign now you're going to what slip punk or k or somebody like that into this

05:28situation i'm really giving out us a hard time out us cautions him about keeping his hands off him and

05:33all that kind of stuff um and he makes the he says he makes the decision easy for him so

05:37tonight he was

05:38going to have a championship defense against kevin owens free television i i think it's a very good idea

05:44i really do we need to start seeing some of these premium matches take place on regular television

05:48because that's what aew does and i don't care how much bigger you think you are than aew

05:53the the momentum that aew has right now is not going away you have to provide premium quality

05:58matches on smackdown on raw every single week because that's what your competition is doing

06:03no matter how big or small they are because if you just sleep on them and let them continue to

06:06grow

06:06momentum people are going to start saying hey listen why am i watching this product when i can

06:10watch the one over there and i'm going to get a lot more action now again if you like storylines

06:13better you might stick with wb for the short term but even the storylines can get hazy from time to

06:18time

06:18this is exciting to see them putting some effort into some legit matches we get to our first i should

06:23say as sammy's leaving we hear randy orton's music and then we have randy orton come out to be the

06:28first entrant into the money in the bank qualifying match it's randy orton trick williams and ray phoenix

06:34very odd pairing if you think about it and i think most people watching this would have probably

06:38expected randy orton to win this match because he's already you know put his claim in to face the

06:44champion after beating cody rhodes at sunday night's main event i think that's still going to happen

06:48but i don't think happens right now if you think about the top of the card between

06:51sammy zane kevin owens cm punk johnny gargano where's gunther gunther's got to be a part of

06:56something then if you mix in a randy orton a cody rhodes like there's just too many people at the

07:01top

07:01of the card so we got to find something for these people to do so this match i think was

07:06perfect because

07:06what we get is we get trick williams taking advantage of opportunity you know randy orton's the

07:12rko on phoenix who's going for a move and hits him with one out of nowhere but then he eats

07:17a trick

07:17shot from trick williams and trick wins the match trick williams going to money in the bank as the

07:22united states champion now here's the thing obviously i don't want trick williams to win i really don't i

07:28hate it when a champion wins the money in the bank i really do um i do think it would

07:32be a very

07:33interesting situation to have trick williams face randy orton in a feud and if that's what they're going

07:37for which easily they could be the way they finish this match i'm on all in favor of that

07:42it would be great experience for trick williams putting him in a premium program one of the

07:45greatest wrestlers in the history of the business combined with the fact that it gets orton engaged

07:50in something meaningful fresh brand new opponent somebody we've never seen him in the ring with

07:55and it keeps him away from the world championship picture because you can always go back to that

07:58later you could always do orton and zane at mania you can always do orton and ko at mania you

08:03can

08:03always do anything like that you don't have to rush it you really don't know i get it orton they're

08:08talking about him potentially breaking john cena's record i don't know if i would have them do that

08:12or not since john cena is more mainstream i think than randy orton is um but i have no problem

08:18with

08:18orton getting close getting another one maybe even tying john cena you have to break it just to tie it

08:23i mean when when john cena won 16 they made a big to-do about how he tied rick flair

08:28and that was a

08:28big enough accolade maybe he ties john cena i don't know i don't see wwe giving him multiple

08:33championship reigns again i think he'll maybe have one more in him before he's done but i like this i

08:38think

08:39it sets us up for some good stuff in the future from there the mfts uh baku side tag team

08:44match

08:44here's my problem one the match ends in a disqualification courtesy of haku getting

08:48involved and he has a whole beat down afterwards and everything else that makes sense my problem is

08:53this is the first meeting between these teams and the first meeting between these teams should have

08:56taken place at a pay-per-view a premium live event or saturday or sunday night's main event

09:01something like that it should have been much more consequential than this we built this up over

09:05months you have to treat the tag team championship like it matters or it doesn't matter this is the

09:11world tag team champions facing a tag team that is fresh to the company a talent that just came in

09:17hiromu takahashi and this could have been so much more instead you're putting on free tv you're

09:23basically getting that championship match out of the way now i get it since the disqualification

09:27will have it again i would have liked to seen this on a ple i feel like wbe gives us

09:31such chintzy

09:32ple's anymore five matches six matches here and there we need to go back to 10 matches on ple's

09:37if it's a single night ple 10 to 11 matches okay they don't all have to be 30 minutes long

09:41but you

09:41got to have multiple matches when it comes to the two night pay-per-views i'd like to see eight

09:46and eight i really would make it worth our while and that's why these types of matches need to be

09:50safe for those opportunities to make those pay-per-views feel special you could have done so much

09:54with these guys physically before putting them into a match this was rushing it i did not like this

09:59from their backstage segment with tiffany stratton and chelsea green basically tiffany making sure

10:04it's okay with chelsea that she's in money in the bank which almost makes me feel like tiffy's going

10:09to win and then challenge chelsea that is not what i want to see happen because of a rumor that's

10:15out

10:15there there is a rumor that chelsea green has been pitching a hair versus hair uh stipulation match

10:22for quite a while now and they haven't jumped on that and now there's a word out there that there

10:27may

10:27be plans for her at some point to face nikki bella in a hair versus hair match which i suspect

10:32nikki bella would win and that they'll shave chelsea green because nikki bella has many other

10:36business ventures that she has to participate in i can't imagine i'm shaving her head chelsea green

10:41is a wrestler through and through one of the most entertaining in the business i would not be

10:45surprised to see her be the one to take the fall in that lose the match to nikki bella now

10:49maybe wait

10:49till after she loses the championship so it's not giving the championship to nikki bella because i think

10:53people would kind of sneer at that because she hasn't done a whole lot of substance since she's

10:57been back um she's more of a nostalgia act than anything but whatever we go from there i think

11:02i think it's going to lead to possibly to tiffany winning and taking the championship i really do

11:06um we get to a cody road segment in the back with michael cole this whole interview they're doing

11:12talking about the people questioning his morality and if he's going to do things different he's not

11:16going to make the same mistakes he did on september 6th i understand all of this they're

11:21really treading a fine line i saw bully ray this week on busted open radio saying that cody roads

11:26is very close to losing the wwe fan base i understand i do but why is it we can't just

11:32have a white meat

11:33baby face why can't we have a ricky steamboat a guy who never goes heel why can't we have that

11:38why

11:38does everybody insist on messing with characters cody has been a benchmark good guy for wwe for all this

11:45time the fans are absolutely love number one merchandise seller you know the kids absolutely adore him

11:50this is not the time nor the guy that you should be flipping right now i think this is they're

11:55leaning towards doing that now the only thing i think was interesting is he did mention paul hayman

12:00and can you imagine if he becomes the next paul hayman guy can you imagine if paul hayman is no

12:05longer with the vision but starts creating a new faction of people like oba cody roads people like

12:09that you know maybe even a new four horsemen if you could bring arne into the company and pay him

12:14to

12:14use that name since he owns the copyright i don't know we'll have to wait and see but i think

12:18it would

12:18make a lot of sense um to do something along those lines at some point i just am afraid of

12:23them

12:23turning them full-blown heel because i think that's a bad idea for the fans from their women's money in

12:29the bank qualifier we have jade cargill jc jane alexa bliss this one much more interesting to me

12:34because it's almost like a rock paper scissors thing you've got a giant in jade cargo you got a

12:39medium like jc jane you got a tiny person like alexa bliss you know and think of it this way

12:44like the

12:45big one beats the medium medium beats the small small beats the large like that just seems to be

12:48it's like it's like a funky case of rock paper scissors and the match was exciting all the way

12:53around um the jade cargo hits jaded on alexa bliss you think things are over um jc jane hits a

13:00boot to

13:00jade cargo and then pins alexa bliss to steal the win jc jane headache the money in the bank i

13:05think

13:05she's the perfect one to go for that i'm wondering what happens whenever ria comes back i think at this

13:11point everybody wants to see jc jane and ria ripley have a throwdown but at some point jc jane i

13:17think

13:17has to have the women's championship to do that so i just got done saying how tiffany stratton could

13:21win this and have a feud with chelsea green i could also see jc jane winning this and biding her

13:26time

13:26holding that briefcase until ria's ready to come back cashing in the briefcase winning the championship

13:32just for ria to come back and be her first challenger that would be exciting now i don't know how

13:37far out

13:38ria is from coming back i don't know how long it's going to be till she's back in the ring

13:41how soon she's going to be at full capacity we've seen the pictures online where she has the knee all

13:46bang bandaged up it's clear she's not come back anytime soon or else they wouldn't wouldn't have

13:51taken away that interim championship label off of chelsea green's win they wouldn't have ended her

13:56reign back on the same day that chelsea green won uh the the the match um so i don't know

14:02there's a

14:03lot going on in that division we're gonna have to keep our eyes on all of it and from there

14:06we get to

14:06the main event kevin owens sammy zane and the matches i mean they've never had a bad match in

14:12my opinion it's solid top to bottom and then you get to the end of the match you got johnny

14:15gargano

14:16coming out and interfering in the match um at one point you see a pop-up powerbomb a stunner um

14:23solid kevin owens stuff um outside you have here's the thing here's the only piece i have a problem with

14:29when you hit the pop-up powerbomb and the stunner on sammy zane and then you go for the same

14:35stupid interference angle that you've been doing for months now johnny gargano grabbing uh sammy

14:41zane's foot and putting it on the bottom rope how many we didn't see that finish for probably

14:4620 years and now we've seen it three or four times in just the last month or month and a

14:51half

14:51it's too much or if your creative is not smart enough to come up with a better way to have

14:56a

14:56schmoz ending or to break up a pin or something then we've got a problem we've got a big problem

15:01why isn't somebody pulling the referee out from under the ring and you can't see who it is and

15:05that way the referee can't disqualify anybody because he doesn't know who did it why didn't

15:09you do something like that why is it always got to be the foot on the bottom rope it's so

15:12repetitive

15:12it's so ridiculous get rid of it that's a terrible angle um from there ko taking gargano outside the

15:19ring he's wants to do um he's messing with the announce table clearing the announce table he's going

15:23to hit a powerbomb moment and sammy zane goes to go after kevin owens instead owens puts zane through

15:28the announcer's desk throws him back into the ring hits a stunner on gargano all that kind of fun

15:33stuff and then here comes cm punk and he takes the wwe championship belt and he waffles kevin owens

15:38with it and of course that leads to sammy zane going for the pin and what is my understanding from

15:43all the articles that are out right now the referee comes over and the referee is supposed to count to

15:47three that was supposed to be the end of the match one two three now if you look at it

15:51on youtube

15:52they've edited the video so you can't see the fact that kevin owens never raised his arm off the mat

15:57i guess the announcers were confused because when it happened you had the claim of oh i think he

16:04got his shoulder off the mat no he did not and when they edited it later they tried to fix

16:08it but

16:08those people in attendance must have been like flabbergasted it's such a horrible botch by the

16:13referee and that makes it so the wrestlers have to go into like their own mode where sammy zane

16:17ends up hitting another halluva kick and then pinning kevin owens and retaining his championship

16:20now i'm fine with him winning the match i think it makes a lot of sense i don't want to

16:24see another

16:24uber short reign for sammy zane then you have cm punk at the ring he starts attacking raining down

16:29shots on sammy zane gives him a gts then as kevin owens starts to crawl and get up from it's

16:34actually

16:34weird they went to a replay as kevin owens started to get up and then they had to come back

16:39from the

16:39replay to see cm punk lay out kevin owens with a gts and then he you know he stands tall

16:44leaves the

16:44ring he's jumping in the crowd with the fans and it was a great way to end the show it's

16:48a great way to

16:48you know keep this whole thing going um but here's the thing like first off star ratings

16:53five stars i would give this show maybe three and a quarter wasn't fabulous wasn't terrible the main

17:00event was pretty solid all except for that stupid foot on the bottom rope nonsense the two money in

17:04the bank matches very good stuff you know what i mean sad that they gave away a tag team match

17:08this early without being on the pla but all in all not a bad show um i feel like we've

17:14got too much

17:14clutter in the world championship picture we've got four to six guys who all want it all deserve

17:20to be there and we can't just keep having multi-person matches for everything and that's not even

17:25talking about gunther like where is gunther right now how is gunther not involved in anything major

17:30right now he was in the middle of it before with zane and and cody and and and and all

17:36that so

17:36where did come through all of a sudden go he like disappears as much as he's there i really think

17:40we need to get gunther back on television and get him be a part of the main event scene and

17:44i just

17:44said that despite the fact that i said we have too many people at the top of the card but

17:48who are

17:48you going to put gunther with right now you're going to push him back into the world title picture

17:52dare i say i wouldn't mind seeing a gunther randy orton feud i think that would be phenomenal

17:57i really really do but i don't know where he fits in right now and that's not to say things

18:02about

18:02people like damian priest who just went heel where does he fit into the card why are we seeing him

18:07showcased on the program we turn on our truth and then we don't have any follow-up that's that's

18:11frustrating um so i don't know there's a lot that was there there's a lot that's still missing

18:16uh word came out this week that page is officially on the smackdown roster now that she's not a half

18:20of the women's tag team champion i guess she had to you know declare herself for one brand or the

18:24other so now she's on smackdown there's no page on the show there's no bellas on the show there's no

18:29i don't know there's just so much missing and three hours is a lot of time to fill i don't

18:35understand

18:35why we can't find a way to get more characters on television it's absolutely ridiculous um so i

18:43don't know you tell me please put it in the comments down below and like here's the thing

18:46we're on every piece of social media you can dream of for the most part there's a couple i don't

18:50do

18:50just for other personal reasons but i mean it doesn't matter facebook instagram uh youtube rumble

18:56odyssey daily motion uh obviously patreon um all the podcast networks the tumblers the

19:09i said begging you you guys are amazing my shows used to do like a couple dozen views every week

19:16and now we're doing hundreds of views a day i've never seen that before and i get it in the

19:21scheme of things that's probably nothing to major influencers but obviously i'm not one i'm a wrestling
