00:00Long way to go to decide exactly who's going to make the college football playoff
00:04and who is not.
00:06Those games this weekend, huge.
00:08Of course, maybe none bigger than Miami taking on Notre Dame here.
00:14We're still seeing holding strong at about seven and a half in this one.
00:19Fifty five and a half right now.
00:22Now, this was, prior to the Malachi Tony news, 57 and a half around that, Craig.
00:30And it has dropped a little bit here to 55 and a half.
00:34Listen, this is a tough place to play, and I get it.
00:37But I don't think this is one of the all-time greatest Notre Dame defenses.
00:43And I don't think – I think they missed Jadarian Price and Love in a big –
00:48they are not running the ball like they did.
00:50This isn't the Notre Dame team of the last couple of seasons.
00:54And Miami's biggest problem defensively is the secondary.
00:58It's not the front seven.
00:59It's the secondary.
01:01I still think we can get a million points in this game, Craig.
01:04No, I mean, I wouldn't be looking at an under here with Darian Menzer and, you know,
01:12both sides for the most part outside of Malachi Tony.
01:17Starters are ready to roll here in this one.
01:19Yeah, I feel like an over is not the recipe for Miami to win, but it probably is the recipe
01:25to cover.
01:27I don't – I think if they give up a lot of points, they're not going to win this one.
01:30The line to me is just strange because in watching Notre Dame play, I don't really see them as a
01:38great team.
01:40But the oddsmakers do this for a reason, you know, and I'm not going to get in the way of
01:44that.
01:44Seven, seven and a half points, if Notre Dame wins, you know, 27 to 14, then this is going to
01:52make a lot of sense tomorrow night.
01:53I'm going to say, all right, you know, they knew exactly what they were talking about.
01:56But that's not the game that I see.
01:58The game that I see is very similar to the game that Miami played against North Carolina and the game
02:02Miami played against Florida State.
02:04And Miami is way overdue for one of those to fall on the L side.
02:08So that would be my prediction is I do think Notre Dame wins.
02:12I think Miami covers.
02:14I think it goes over the total.
02:16But I think for the third or fourth time this season, you take a look at Miami's defense and you
02:20say, hey, these guys are great.
02:22They probably have the best offense in the country, but they're not going to win a championship if they can't
02:26stop the offense of the other teams.
02:29And by the way, I believe it was Wake Forest that they played against Miami wasn't really good either defensively
02:35against them, too.
02:36It all started in the second half, I believe, of that game against Wake Forest and then just continued against
02:42Florida State and and certainly against North Carolina.
02:45I understand that things could go sideways when it's Miami, Florida State.
02:50Totally agree.
02:50And I always talk about those Friday, those those night games where you're playing at the teams playing at home,
02:57ranked team on the road.
02:58Usually the home team wins.
03:00But I Joe, I think Miami's defense is very suspect.
03:03So I got Notre Dame winning this, but very high scoring.
03:07I would say 33 30, something like that.
03:09And then the luck's got to run out eventually because I can't keep winning games like this in the last
03:13minute.
03:14I'll say this, Greg.
03:16I mean, that Wake Forest game in Miami's defense, they had a boatload of injuries in that secondary.
03:22Everybody had a big lead to starting.
03:25Yeah, well, they they did early on in there.
03:28And I think Wake Forest is one of the most underrated teams in the country here this year.
03:33But with one of the I think the future Florida State head coach here, but that's a different conversation.
03:38Uh, that's a very good team there and certainly they can put up points.
03:43But Miami at that point in the season had three or four of the secondary starters out.
03:50So they were dealing with some injuries.
03:52They had backup players going on.
03:54Now, why hasn't that changed?
03:57Well, what I didn't take into consideration is how poor of a tackling defense this is, Greg.
04:03I mean, the yards after contact on teams against this Miami, it makes no sense to me because, you know,
04:11Heather, he's a good defensive coordinator, great defensive coordinator came from Minnesota there and PJ Fleck.
04:19And obviously you saw with Ruben Bain and company what he was able to do last year.
04:23I just can't get over how terrible they are tackling guys get hit and they bounce off.
04:29And that is not what Miami football is all about, but they do have no more excuses.
04:34They got the starters in.
04:35They have to tackle better.
04:38You cannot allow guys to be getting an extra five or six yards after you hit them.
04:42I don't know where that came from, but that's been the problem with the Miami defense.
04:48Maybe losing your best offensive weapon is something that will open some eyes because the defense has got to get
04:53better.
04:54If not, they're going to get very embarrassed in Notre Dame, which might be, I don't know, Craig.
05:00Toughest place to play in college football?
05:04I don't know.
05:05I don't know.
05:06I've never been there, so it's hard for me to speak to it.
05:09I'm going to guess there's tougher places like Clemson at night, LSU at night.
05:14I don't know.
05:15That's a hard one for me to answer.
05:17How are the fans in Notre Dame?
05:18I don't know.
05:18I've never been to that stadium before.
05:21Diehards.
05:23Diehards in the middle of nowhere, too.
05:25That's the other problem there.
05:27Yeah, well, no, SEC is nobody cares in the SEC.
