00:01We've got the, all right, Shador is going to start, it looks like Shador is going to
00:05officially start on Sunday, as Mary Kay had said it, she didn't officially say it, it
00:10didn't officially report it, but it's, because Lyman and I got texts that Deshaun could end
00:16up practicing today, and I'm like, and that was from nobody affiliated with the Browns,
00:23and I'm going, that seems to be a little bit rough to be able to do.
00:30Right?
00:31That's going to be a tall order practicing today?
00:33Well, it's weird, because...
00:35He was throwing up on Monday.
00:36Yeah, oh, and you noted that just because you're in protocol doesn't mean you were concussed.
00:41Right.
00:41And if that's the case...
00:43I also said that before you told me he was throwing up the other day.
00:46Yeah.
00:47And Mary Kay has also now told us that it seems, her feeling that she gets around the building,
00:53right, is that it seems like they are preparing Shador to start.
00:56It seems unlikely that Deshaun would start this week.
01:00Yeah, but Johnny Manziel threw up literally the night before a game, and he was able to
01:06play.
01:06He threw up during games.
01:07He might have been thrown up during halftime.
01:09He was able to play.
01:11I don't know if they're going to sneak out and play Call of Duty until 5 a.m. or whatever.
01:15You just need an IV.
01:16What's the big deal?
01:18I mean, can't we just accept he makes up half those stories?
01:21Well, of all of it...
01:22He's got to keep making up stories so he stays relevant, guys.
01:24Of all of it, to sneak out and...
01:26We snuck out and played video games all night.
01:28No, you didn't.
01:29It is going to turn...
01:30No, you didn't.
01:30You went to the back lots over on West 6th and did some things.
01:34He is going to turn into old...
01:36Video games.
01:36He is going to turn into old Hulk Hogan stories.
01:39Yeah, I was partying with John Belushi, brother.
01:42John Belushi had been dead for two years, sir.
01:44Yeah, he's not going to get the names and dates right.
01:46Well, brother, I wrestled 400 times in a year, brother.
01:50There were 400 days because you see when you go around and you go to Japan and you go back.
01:54Like, that's how Johnny Manziel Cleveland stories are going to turn into.
01:57It's just going to be little things that have a seed of truth and then turn into a great big
02:03story.
02:04Manziel's going to say, you know, I partied with Joe Namath.
02:06I was wearing the same fur coat that night.
02:08It was crazy.
02:09We had Rockettes with us.
02:10Yep.
02:11That's how it goes.
02:12It's just going to be a bunch of lies.
02:14He's going to read some about Kenny Stabler someday.
02:16And then I was playing pool and doing all these things.
02:19And, yeah, that's how it goes.
02:21Anyway, go ahead.
02:22What were you going to say?
02:23I was going to say that there is such a mystery behind concussion protocol.
02:30Yeah.
02:30And I think there's a reason.
02:32I think a lot of players probably want it that way.
02:37I mean, players are thinking about their incentives.
02:40They're thinking about having to hit, you know, their numbers and their non-guaranteed contracts.
02:45They want to be out there.
02:46In this case, Deshaun Watson does not want to get Wally pipped.
02:49I think Deshaun Watson absolutely wants to be out there.
02:52So I totally, as bad as it is, I don't want people getting concussions and throwing up for crying out
02:59loud.
02:59But I totally believe he was throwing up because I don't think he wants to be sidelined at all in
03:05this situation.
03:06No.
03:06No.
03:07No.
03:07No.
03:07And it's not about, oh, does he not think he's as good as Shador?
03:11It's what every player is always, especially a veteran, someone who's been around.
03:15Remember, he was playing for his job quite literally in week two after that disastrous opening.
03:22He was playing for a spot in the NFL.
03:25Now he's played well enough where I actually think there would be other teams that would kick the tires on
03:30him.
03:30I was going to bitch about Kenny Atkinson.
03:32I was actually going to complain about them trying to get him fired because that means I lit the team
03:36off the hook and I don't want to do that.
03:37I'll get to that here in a second.
03:38And you just brought up something very interesting, though.
03:41Like, he went from a guy.
03:42Cavs Conversations brought to you by the fine folks at Surfside Hard Ice Tea who asked you to please drink
03:46that Surfside Hard Ice Tea responsibly.
03:48But I'd also like to talk to you about Browns Conversations brought to you by the fine folks at Surfside.
03:53Celebrate football with Surfside.
03:55It's not a seltzer.
03:56No.
03:57Absolutely not.
03:58It is Surfside.
03:59You've got to be 21.
04:00Please drink responsibly.
04:02Proud partner of your Cleveland Browns.
04:04So, going back to Deshaun Watson, I thought there was a time last year where he was just hunky-dory
04:11with getting the 230 and moving on with his life.
04:16Has he played well enough another team would pick him up?
04:21Watson?
04:21Mm-hmm.
04:23Yeah, I actually think he has.
04:24You agree?
04:25I'm looking at the play around the league, man.
04:27I mean, Jacoby Brissett just got benched.
04:29And who traded for him yesterday?
04:30I mean, honestly, in all the other stuff, this is not Kansas City.
04:35We still play them.
04:36I know that people are going to want to bring up what's happened in the past.
04:39This is not Kansas City with Justin Tucker.
04:41Like, the Browns have dealt with all of it.
04:43And I think that if he were a free agent, I think somebody would bring him up.
04:47And yeah, there'd be some questions, but I don't think there would be the type of reaction that we've had
04:53here in Cleveland.
04:54And about the Browns and about your franchise over the last five years.
04:58Do you think it would be a team that would just bring him in to play quarterback?
05:01Or do you think it would be a team that actually thinks they have a chance to do something if
05:06the quarterback was competent?
05:07No.
05:07I think he would be in a position where he is a quote-unquote, like with us, he is a
05:11quote-unquote bridge to somebody else.
05:13Like, they look around the league and they go, well, we can't really get that.
05:18We can't really get this guy or that.
05:19Honestly, I hate to say it like this because I keep making the comparisons.
05:22It's the Buccaneers when they got Baker.
05:24They signed him to an $8 million contract.
05:25I just don't know if I believe that there are people, there are teams around that would bring him in
05:30yet.
05:31I don't know that I believe that.
05:32Yeah.
05:33Okay.
05:33Well, I understand where you're coming from.
05:36Okay.
05:36I just, I think there's, I think there's 15 bridge guys out there somewhere on a roster that right now
05:42are currently on a roster.
05:44And when it comes to next off season, they will be available somehow.
05:47You look at a Garner Minshew and got just guys of that.
05:51That's true.
05:51Well, I didn't say it'd be the first one sign, but if you're saying it like that, it's like, well.
05:55Daniel Jones.
05:56If he's like, yeah.
05:57If he's one of the last guys signed, then that's not making him a starter.
06:00I see, I see your point.
06:00I can meet you halfway on that.
06:01Absolutely.
06:03Anyway, I do think he thinks he can play football in 2027, which I don't think that that was,
06:08I didn't really think that was going to be possible after week one in 2026.
06:11I thought that we were seeing the swan song and then that was it.
06:14And he might go home and just collect the rest of his money and whatever you're going to do in
06:19life.
06:19Good luck to your really, I don't care.
06:21Bad luck to you.
06:22Whatever.
06:22Who cares?
06:23And I do think that there's a, he thinks that there's a future there.
06:26So now, yeah, I think he wants to be out there in the field.
06:29I think he wants to continue to start.
06:30And he may also be looking at it where there might be a future right here in Cleveland, Ohio.
06:35As much as that pains some people to hear that, the more games you win, the further you get away
06:39from the top of that draft.
06:40Now, you can find better quarterbacks, but you have to make that a sincere investment.
06:44Are you willing to make that investment in this draft class?
06:47And remember, you're going to be fighting with other teams for those quarterbacks.
06:50But if you're not playing, it gives us a chance to kind of forget you and move on.
06:55Oh, quickly.
06:56Like, Shador could go out there, and it's not like moving on to Shador.
06:59Shador could go out there, and I hope he plays well.
07:02Hand to God on a stack of Bibles a mile high, I hope he plays well.
07:06I'm a Browns fan, and I want him to do well.
07:08And I love his father.
07:09Be way better for talk radio.
07:10That said, if he even goes out there and he sucks up the room, they could just go to Dylan
07:14Gabriel,
07:14and you could still be not able to play.
07:17Yeah, they probably would, honestly.
07:19Oh, definitely.
07:20From what we had heard, there's not some huge gap between Shador in terms of the coaches.
07:25Well, because we could probably do this tomorrow a little bit, because I'm sure that this will get people in
07:29their dander,
07:29and I'm not trying to.
07:31If he goes out there and he sucks on Sunday, you've got to come home, and you want to talk
07:35about must wins,
07:35you've really got to get that one.
07:37Like this one, you'd still be five and four, but I think the fan base would be down on you.
07:41I think you guys would be questioning yourselves.
07:44Media is certainly down on you.
07:45The playoff talk would probably subside.
07:47The playoff talk is shelved or impossible to some people, but you're still trying to do it,
07:54so you're going, I've got to figure out a way to win a football game.
07:56So it's either Deshaun Watson's going to be available, or you could go, man, this guy,
08:00we've just got to get somebody who can get the ball out and knows the offense.
08:02And all of a sudden, it could be Dylan Gabriel time.
08:04Well, four straight home games, right?
08:06Is that really what it is?
08:07Four straight home games?
08:09And you get the bye week, you're going to be home for five weeks.
08:11With the weather turning.
08:13And I'll tell you what, if he just goes out there, if Shador just goes out there,
08:16and here it comes to turn into Shador again, if he just goes out there and hands the football off,
08:20and Quinshawn Judkins has a nice day, they're not good at stopping the run over there.
08:24If Quinshawn Judkins has a nice day, and he throws for it, I'm serious, guys.
08:27If he has a Deshaun Watson, 134 yards, and the Browns win, 21-17.
08:33Great!
08:34I'll see you next Sunday if Deshaun Watson isn't able to go.
08:38We're 6-3, you did exactly your job.
08:41Congratulations, young man.
08:42Thank you very, very, very much for winning this football game.
08:45I'm serious about this.
08:48We are in a place that we did not think we were going to be,
08:51and it's up to Todd Monken to continue that.
08:53So there is a lot of pressure on this football game,
08:56and there's a lot of pressure on Shador.
08:59And there's a lot of pressure for Deshaun Watson to get back.
09:03Because if Shador does go out there and has a 300-yard passing game,
09:07because he is an accurate thrower, and he can throw a big deep ball,
09:11if he's able to do that, damn it, you know and I know,
09:16you can hate Shador Sanders all you want.
09:17I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about everybody.
09:19You can hate him all you want.
09:20We're going to have that conversation on Monday.
09:23Because then I don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to,
09:26well, he's played well enough for them to win.
09:28I don't believe that he's played, they've won in spite of him.
09:31I believe that he's been a cog in the wheel and has helped them win.
09:34I don't believe that they won because of him.
09:37All those three things leave the argument open to somebody else
09:41doing better in his position and taking that job.
09:45So as surprised as I would be that he would be starting on Sunday
09:55or practicing today, as surprised as I would be,
10:00I could understand.
10:02I could certainly understand.
10:04But when it comes to a head injury, it's like, well, you do have 230 sitting in the bank.
10:10Maybe you want to be a little bit careful about this.
10:12Because there's a lot of things we don't know about head injuries.
