Crochet a pair of feathered wings for the Pocket Owl with this step-by-step amigurumi tutorial. Starting with a short chain, you’ll shape each wing using double crochet, single crochet, back-loop stitches, turns, and slip stitches—no sewing required to form the wing itself.

This beginner-friendly crochet pattern walkthrough explains how to finish and fasten off one wing, then make a second to attach to the owl’s body. Follow along as part of the no-sew Pocket Owl amigurumi project, or use the wing-making techniques for your next crochet animal.

00:08let's go ahead and do the owl wing we're gonna start off with a slip knot to begin our chain
00:15we're gonna do six chains one two three four five and six now we're gonna insert a double crochet
00:27in the fourth chain from your hook so counting down that's one two three and four we'll be going
00:34into this stitch so insert one double crochet into that stitch then you're going to double
00:47crochet in the next stitch and double crochet in the last chain now we're going to chain five one
01:03excuse me chain six again one two three four five and six insert a single crochet in the second chain
01:16from your hook then we're going to single crochet across four more so that's one two three and four
01:36you should have a total of five single crochets here with the first one you did and then the four
01:42after
01:44and what we're going to do is we're actually going to start joining into those double crochets that we
01:51made in the first round so you're going to insert your hook into that first and you're going to have
01:57to turn your piece a little here insert your hook into that first or that same double crochet you came
02:03out of for a slip stitch now we're going to turn our piece and we're going to work in the
02:13back loops of
02:14those single crochets you made don't go into that slip stitch though that's not going to count as a stitch
02:24so going into that next or that first actual single crochet you're going to make a single crochet single crochet
02:36in the next one
02:41and the next one and the next
02:49leave the last stitch unworked you will have four single crochets in back loops
02:56now what you're going to do is you're going to turn your piece
03:00and you're going to insert your skip the first stitch insert your hook into that second stitch again
03:07in the back loops only and do a single crochet single crochet in the back loops single crochet in the
03:18back
03:18loop you will have three single crochets total here and now we're going to actually slip stitch into that
03:26next double crochet in round one and turn your piece again we're going to work along the other edge
03:39skipping that slip stitch you're going to single crochet in the next back loop single crochet in
03:46the next back loop and don't work in that very last stitch that's just two single crochets in this row
03:56turn your piece again if you skip the first stitch you're only going to do one single crochet in that
04:03next
04:05stitch and then you're going to slip stitch into the back into the double crochet made in round one
04:16and once you finish that you will have your wing complete
04:20you just need to fasten off and weave in the ends later what i recommend doing is just pulling the
04:30ends up
04:33towards where the top edge of the wing is
04:44and here you go there's your little owl wing now this is going to be the feathery portion
04:54and this is the top edge let me put it down here on white here is the top edge where
05:02you'll be attaching
05:03it to the body what you'll want to do is make two of these little wings and you'll be ready
05:10to move on to the body
