Feels Like Bliss from Lion Brand Yarns gets a hands-on review in this crochet yarn test, with a close look at how the furry texture performs for amigurumi and other handmade projects. Jade shares what makes this bulky weight 5 yarn feel so soft and dreamy, why the chain-like center helps stitches stay visible, and how it compares to fully furry yarns when you’re working on detailed pieces.

The video also shows finished examples made with the yarn, including a pocket duck, a pocket raccoon, and a flying squirrel snuggler in progress. You’ll see how the yarn works up with a smaller hook, how the wrong side can look extra fluffy, and whether it sheds or frogs easily while crocheting. It’s a useful yarn review for anyone curious about plush crochet, stuffed animals, cozy textures, and soft handmade gifts.

Created for crochet yarn review searches, amigurumi yarn tests, and furry yarn comparisons, this video is especially helpful if you want to know how Lion Brand Feels Like Bliss behaves in real projects. It also fits searches for crochet tutorials, plush yarn review, soft yarn for stuffies, and beginner-friendly yarn testing for amigurumi and crochet.

00:09Hi friends, Jade from Sweet Softies here. I'm excited to share with you my little yarn review
00:15here of something new I'm trying out. This is from Lion Brand Yarns and it's called Feels Like Bliss
00:22and I have to say it's very aptly named because it really does feel so soft and so dreamy to
00:29the
00:29touch. I wanted to share a little bit about this type of yarn and the projects that I tried it
00:35out
00:35with as well as how to crochet with it because this furry yarn is quite different from crocheting
00:43with regular let's say acrylics, cottons, or wool type of yarns. So first of all the Feels Like Bliss
00:52collection comes in some beautiful mostly muted and pastel colors. You can check out their full
00:59line on the Lion Brand website. I'll link it in the description box below and what's really awesome
01:06is that they have a line of minis so if you don't want to let's say go with like a
01:13full skein of yarn
01:14you can check out their minis which come in a very nice big assortment of colors
01:20and you can really play with those colors. I also want to add that Feels Like Bliss is a weight
01:28five
01:28yarn so it is bulky but not super bulky. I can see this yarn being great for making cozy items
01:36like
01:37scarves, hats, bonnets, and also cardigans and sweaters. But I have tried it out with Amigurumi
01:47and I think it's fantastic with making stuffies as well. What I love is that it produces a very
01:55furry texture so it doesn't even look like you crochet the piece at all and I do have to add
02:03that crocheting with furry yarn can be daunting at first but what I've discovered about Feels Like Bliss
02:10is that it is easier to work with than the full-on furry yarns. For example, the faux fur yarns
02:19like
02:20gopher faux yarn and the reason for that is because the Feels Like Bliss yarn is made with a chain
02:31nut structure in the center and so the little fuzzes kind of protrude from that and it's really
02:41awesome because when you're crocheting the chain nut structure is actually a bit visible so you can see
02:47your stitches a lot better than if you are using let's say a full-on furry yarn. And what's important
02:58about being able to see your stitches is that you can start really making more detailed and intricate
03:05Amigurumis. Without further ado, let's take a look at how these crochet up. Let me show you a few projects
03:12and what it looks like when you crochet with them. Here's a cute little duck I made using the pocket
03:20duck
03:21pattern which is actually a free video tutorial on my YouTube channel. So you can go ahead and create one
03:28for yourself too. The original was done in plush yarn and as you can see they have very different looks.
03:36I really love how fluffy it came out to be because it looks like a newborn baby duckling.
03:41I also used Feels Like Bliss to re-crochet or recreate my little pocket raccoon pattern here
03:50and as you can see since it is thinner than its plush counterpart here made with super bulky white yarn.
03:59This bulky white yarn creates a smaller Amigurumi but it's oh so fluffy. I just love how the color changes
04:08look
04:10and it comes out to be so soft as well. Last but not least I wanted to share my little
04:17snuggler pattern here.
04:18This is my flying squirrel snuggler and it's not quite finished yet. I'm still working on the pattern part
04:25but I created it using only Feels Like Bliss yarn and the body and limbs and tail are actually crocheted
04:36all in one piece and it's completely unstuffed. So it's as you can see here it's flat and you can
04:44squish it
04:45and the yarn creates such a nice texture it almost looks felted when you finish and I love that you
04:53don't need to stuff it for it to be very soft. All right if you're wanting to make this little
05:02guy
05:02too stay tuned for the pattern and you'll love that it's almost completely no sew you really just need
05:08to sew the head to the body. Let's go ahead and crochet a little bit with this yarn so I
05:18can show you
05:19how it looks as you work with it. This chainette structure here in the center you can see quite
05:28clearly there's just a little fuzz coming out of it which will create that lovely furry texture.
05:35For amigurumi I suggest using a much smaller hook size than what's recommended on the label. The label
05:43says 9 millimeters and I'm using a 4 millimeter crochet hook here so that there are no gaps showing
05:50between my stitches and that's important if you need to stuff your amigurumi because you don't want
05:57stitches coming out or stuffing coming out between the gaps. So right now I'm going to start off with
06:03a magic ring here three four five and I'm going to do six single crochets and you can see that
06:14you can
06:15actually use the magic ring method with this yarn instead of the chain method. Some yarns that are
06:23bulky and furry are very hard to pull shut but this one is quite simple so I love that you
06:33can get a
06:33really tight magic ring with this yarn and as you work in that first stitch let me show you where
06:40that is
06:42over here I'm not sure if the camera is getting it well but let me bring it up closer so
06:49you'll see the
06:51chain nut structure right um between the fur and I love that because you can actually count your stitches now
07:00because they're visible
07:04all right I'm just increasing in each stitch around and let me show you the next one here if you
07:13can see
07:16there's that little chain nut between the fur and I do apologize if it's not as clear through my phone
07:25camera here I don't have a nice um camera that I record with by the way I literally just use
07:32my phone
07:34so um I'm hoping the resolution is good enough for you to see the stitches though
07:42regardless um all right so I just went around um increasing around in each stitch
07:49and you'll see that it produces um this nice furry look in the end now what's interesting about this yarn
07:57is
07:57that the right side and the wrong side look different I tend to like putting the wrong side out for
08:08fur yarn
08:09because I feel like it looks fluffier than the right side so for this amigurumi for example it is um
08:19wrong side out
08:22I mean it looks quite fluffy there and as you crochet along um you will notice that there's that difference
08:31between
08:32the two sides as well
08:36and as I'm crocheting you'll notice that the yarn is not shedding um I will say that when
08:45I am sewing things together or maybe um being more aggressive with the pieces I notice tiny amount of shedding
08:54but it's very minimal and the good thing is um once you do finish your project it does not shed
09:06so I haven't experienced any shedding with um just touching and fluffing up my finished projects here
09:17no shedding which is quite nice because sometimes the problem with furry yarns is that it sheds easily
09:27all right so I just wanted to crochet a slightly larger circle for you to see here
09:34um with this four millimeter hook you'll see that it produces a dense stitch and you won't have to worry
09:43about stuffing showing up between the stitches so here's the wrong side with all the furry goodness
09:52and here's the right side you can see those stitches on top here that's one two three four five six
10:04etc
10:06and um what's great is that you can actually frog your work quite easily um it's often a challenge to
10:16frog yarn that
10:18is a different texture from regular let's say cotton or acrylic yarn um because it the chain or the little
10:27thread in the middle tends to break really easily and it's fragile I've experienced that with polyester yarn and
10:34um the super bulky like velvet chanel yarn but this one as you can see is able to be frogged
10:45just fine
10:48all right nice and easy
10:52and no shedding so that's that um quite a nice yarn to work with thank you so much for checking
11:02out my
11:03quick little yarn review here hope you will give um feels like bliss a try go ahead and check out
11:09the
11:10links in the description box below to find it on their website all right thanks friends bye now
