00:00We've got to talk about the Steam Deck 2.
00:01That's the thing that we've always spoken to about this.
00:03Valve has been incredibly consistent all the way along about the Steam Deck 2.
00:07They are waiting for the hardware to catch up to what they want to get out of it.
00:12It needs to be much more portable in terms of battery life,
00:16and it needs to be a proper next generation rather than an iterative thing.
00:19I think like the AMD chips, you know, I like some of the modern AMD chips,
00:22like Strix Point and stuff like that,
00:24but they're not seeing that as such an epic leap from where they already were.
00:28I keep doing something like Pandelate, like that side of things.
00:30I think we've come to...
00:32Pandelate would be so expensive.
00:33Exactly, and that's the thing. It's so tied into it.
00:35But I think we've been saying for the longest time now
00:38that I think an ARM Steam Deck makes the most sense for a Steam Deck 2.
00:42That's the avenue that's going to be the most likely place
00:46where they can get that level of battery performance,
00:49that gaming performance, and now with FEX,
00:51like that consistent performance across everything.
00:53You know, they've just test run FEX and an ARM-based chip running,
00:57you know, PC games in a thing that, let's be honest,
01:00is not going to sell as much as the Steam Deck 2 could potentially sell.
01:03I would be massively surprised if Steam Deck 2 came out and it was x86.
01:07I would be hugely surprised because I think that's where you're going to get the battery life
01:11and potentially like the form factor as well.
01:13You're going to be able to just like trim down that form factor more.
01:16I think potentially price too.
01:17I think like Panther Lake has kind of shown,
01:19and I know that will trickle down eventually into cheaper Intel chips
01:24will get the capabilities that Panther Lake offer now.
01:26That is a really high-end chip and it was really expensive.
01:29It was so heavily reliant on fast memory.
01:31Yeah, and it's in handhelds, which are so expensive now
01:34that they really are not on the same level as the Steam Deck.
01:36I know the Steam Deck has gone up in price too,
01:37and this is the awkward thing that I think hangs over all of this,
01:41which is if there was any chance for Steam Deck 2 happening next year
01:45or the year after that,
01:47I would guess it's probably not anymore and it's probably a bit late.
