00:07halloween costume uh that you you put together the water boy um whose ideas are these and uh
00:14it looks like everybody on the lines puts a lot of time and effort into the halloween
00:19party you guys throw yeah we had some fun uh that was good uh it's always fun to do that
00:26you know
00:26you try to find the right day for it and this landed on the right day and hutch set that
00:30one up
00:31and it was it was an awesome party and um our idea kristin came up with it and a couple
00:35weeks ago
00:36and uh pretty easy for me who had the best costume if not you oh man uh
00:45gibbs was michael jackson was pretty good yeah which is what's your favorite football movie
00:52my favorite football movie water boy right well i don't know as i asked is it water boy
00:57remember the titans um longest yards probably you know there for me too yeah uh obviously a good
01:04feeling in the building uh having a chance to look back at the tape how would you evaluate the
01:09offensive performance yeah i thought there was a lot of good and um a lot of things that weren't so
01:15good and particularly the end of the first half there and then the beginning of the second half
01:19obviously the two turnovers and um you know if if we don't do that you know there's a lot of
01:24ifs
01:24but if we don't do that it might be a different ball game and felt like we moved the ball
01:27really well
01:28and um we're able to you know go up and down the field pretty good but uh you know those
01:32those two
01:33things happened shot us in the foot we had some penalties that shot ourselves in the foot too and
01:37um but yeah i thought it was a good overall obviously got the w can you talk us through that
01:41last
01:42drive and there were some big plays some big throws gibbs not scoring on purpose do you have to
01:47reinforce that message to him in the huddle was it calm excitable game on the line what was it like
01:54yeah it was very calm i think you know when we knew all we knew was a field goal uh
01:58we knew we
01:59didn't have to go very far but um once we got down there and said the 40 or the 30
02:03um and started you
02:05know playing that that game of you know wanting to get closer but don't want to um you know score
02:10yeah there's there's there's definitely a delicate dancer that you're playing and they're playing it too
02:14defensively obviously they tried to let us score on the one and pretty early for them to do that i
02:19thought but um you know they wanted to let us in and we were we were ready for it though
02:23and i told
02:24gibbs you know don't score if that were to happen and uh you know i think we wish we would
02:28have gotten
02:28the first down on on that one and then and then i think we could just need the ball out
02:32from there but
02:33we were sure the first down and had to you know play that game a little bit more for a
02:37few more downs
02:37and once he got inside of that he went down and that was the end of it a couple more
02:41things from that
02:42drive the first pass to laporta and the catch that he made he makes some tough catches in traffic
02:48like he goes up and he knows he's going to get hit and he makes the catches anyway and he
02:53obviously
02:54you have trust that he will go make those catches no doubt yeah i mean i got as much trust
02:59in him as
03:00anyone i've ever played with and um i think i think people don't realize how hard that is for a
03:04guy to
03:05not touch the ball game and then in the fourth quarter run the route exactly as as he should and
03:10then
03:10catch that ball in traffic on time the whole thing um it's it's so impressive for for him to be
03:15able
03:15to do that in that moment um you know he's he's a hell of a player and that's why he
03:20is who he is
03:21were you deliberately ignoring national tight end day or were you just waiting to make it dramatic
03:26with with sam on that that last drive and and did he remind you hey uh jared it's it is
03:32national
03:32tight end day no he didn't um i don't know if he if i even knew that uh but you
03:39know i was not
03:40deliberately ignoring anything i think it's just sometimes you know how the game goes another thing
03:44that happened in that drive and it made me wonder does jared goff practice the hard count when you've
03:50got the third and five and you get them to jump is this something that you work on and it's
03:56really
03:56your acting skills or is it just it's like a normal play i do everything normally and just hope they
04:02jump off sides uh yeah you know you there's different times where you'll do more or less and
04:09um i don't know if i was doing anything extra on that one i think uh that we we you
04:15know they were
04:15antsy they were antsy we got them earlier in the game and um probably could have got them a few
04:19more
04:19times and um i don't think that one was anything special i think we just you know knew knew what
04:26they were going to do and wanted to lay on the horn there a little bit and got them to
04:29move i i feel
04:30like that's something if you were to work on it that's something you'd work on at home with uh with
04:34the wife the kid and the dog to get them all involved to try to hone that skill yeah if
04:38i get
04:38if i can startle them that means it's working yes
04:45uh all right so look yesterday we took a million calls about the fourth down calls and we've asked you
04:50about it before but it's in the news cycle again when you get word that you guys are going to
04:55go for it
04:55fourth and short deep in your own territory as a player how do you respond to that call
05:05yeah i i don't even i don't think twice i think it's so it's so uh i don't know what
05:12the word is
05:13a bit exposing of people who think it's not the right decision just because it's in our own territory
05:20um it's it's guaranteeing us a chance to win the game no matter what whereas if we punt it they
05:26can
05:26do exactly what we did to them in the final drive and i'm sure they wish they had another chance
05:31to
05:31touch the ball and so it's it's it's funny um i think back to a few years ago where we
05:36went for
05:36that fourth down against green bay in a similar situation and fourth and one and we got it to
05:44converted so it's it's i guess no matter what there will be backlash so who really cares at
05:49this point right sure yeah and is it in any way i've made this argument on the air before and
05:53you
05:53can tell me i'm full of poi here but i feel like the overall attitude of dan campbell and being
05:58that
05:59aggressive this team feeds off it in a way that is more than just the play it is the way
06:06that you
06:06guys are wired because your head coach is wired that way sure yeah that's part of it i also think
06:13our fourth down percentage is is probably the best in the league since he's been here i would
06:17imagine we're not doing it and not converting um you know the majority of the time and i think
06:21you know when when we're in those situations we're so much more comfortable in them than the other
06:25teams because we do them more often um and it is an advantage for us it is and it's something
06:30that
06:31we practice and it's something that we spend a lot of time on and we feel very comfortable in those
06:34situations again unfortunately we didn't we didn't convert we don't want to do that we want to get the
06:38first down and keep the game moving and and finish the game on that drive but
06:41um you know he knew if we were not to get it that okay they'll be a kick a field
06:46goal or score a
06:47touchdown and and we'll get the ball back now thankfully they missed the field goal and everything
06:51was great but um it's by by every measure of everything it's the right decision sometimes things
06:57get lost in the hoopla of winning the game and whether it's controversial or not but uh when you
07:03came into the interim afterwards uh you weren't aware that dj wannam had gotten a couple fingers on that
07:08field goal attempt to kind of redirect that that field goal have you guys had a chance to properly
07:14acknowledge his paw no yeah no we will we will tomorrow um really impressive obviously what an
07:21individual effort um for him to get a finger on that probably goes in if he didn't and it's it's
07:26really impressive it really is and he's had a ton of big plays for us he's been a great addition
07:30for us
07:30um on defense and for him to come up like that's awesome so i want to talk about the second
07:36touchdown to jamo and and we'll start with penne sewell's route how do you how do you how did you
07:43look at the route that he ran uh is a a tight end two or tight end three or whatever
07:49he was how did
07:50he do on that play yeah i thought he was great i thought he did exactly what he was supposed
07:54to do
07:54he was right in position he was ready to catch it um had he been open he would have got
07:58it um he
07:59wasn't so i threw it to jamo he was jamo was the or penne was the third read jamo was
08:05the fourth read so
08:05it was in that you know he was trying to get it to penne and then jamo jamo said something
08:09in the
08:09postgame locker room he said it was a no look pass were you not looking at jamo when you threw
08:14that
08:16yeah just slightly um you know i i was moving forward and um wanted to move that defender
08:21towards penne and um was able to move him pretty good and get it to jamo there i don't know
08:26if it
08:26was true eyes off of him but um i was able to move that guy pretty good coming up a
08:33big game against
08:33minnesota i know you've said that uh every game is is the same basically that they all count the
08:38same uh division maybe a little bit more this is a division game this is a test for you guys
08:44against
08:44an awfully good defense you've had success against a brian flores defense and then last year struggled
08:50them in both games against that what does he throw at you that really makes things difficult at the line
08:55of scrimmage specifically yeah he does a lot you know it's a little bit everything and
09:00they've evolved over the years as as teams have uh kind of solved some of their their issues and
09:07um i think it's you know it's it's a new evolution of this defense now this year and it may
09:12be the
09:12best one yet you know they're obviously playing really well and uh we got to solve you know a lot
09:16of these issues and figure out how to attack them the issues include their blitz rate dan campbell
09:21told our morning show today that that it really he really wishes fans could follow you around this
09:26week and see how you will try to dissect during the week what they do defensively what are some
09:33of the keys for you jared goff when it comes to trying to slow down their blitz
09:40well i don't think i'll slow it down i think they're going to bring it no matter what i think
09:44there's ways to beat it you know every time every time you blitz one guy that means there's one less
09:47guy in coverage and um that means there's more space on the field so there that's the that's the
09:52risk reward they're willing to take and um i gotta make it more more on in our favor than
09:57in their favor you're so your approach is opportunistic do you like this i mean you're
10:03going to be in the line of fire a little bit more but the opportunities are there for some big
10:06plays
10:07right yeah maybe i don't know we'll see it depends um i think every defense has strengths and every
10:15defense has flaws and um you know if it's a blitzing defense there's strengths to that and there's
10:20flaws to that and then vice versa for a team who doesn't blitz their strengths and flaws so you
10:23try to expose those flaws in whatever way you can and try to you know shore up all their the
10:27things
10:28that they feel like they can do and um attack them in your own way what is it that has
10:33surprised you
10:34perhaps the most or encouraged you the most of the first six games of the season
10:40uh oh gosh good question um i think you know our ability to respond to to bad situations um you
10:47know
10:47i think we had those two turnovers and and it was you know the whole momentum of the game had
10:51flipped
10:51at that point we felt like we were moving the ball really well and getting ready to score on our
10:56third
10:56or fourth possession there and um you have the turnover then we have the turnover out of half and
11:00and really didn't miss a beat after that and got right back on the on the horse and kept going
11:04and
11:05um probably the guys were responding and handling it the right way and that's going to happen man
11:09adversity is going to strike and um all that matters is how you respond to it all right every week
11:14we
11:14solicit fan questions and uh kang our producer has another one this week yeah we actually got a
11:19couple good ones there so i chose this one randomly a little bit this one's from steve
11:23in brighton i don't know if this is true or not so you can let us know if he saw
11:27correctly but steve
11:28said that he saw your wife recently post on an instagram story where there was a lego delorean on the
11:34table behind her and he wants to know do you have any collectible hobbies are you a lego guy are
11:39you
11:39into legos or is that just random or do you collect like he said any other collectibles or hobbies
11:43outside of football that's funny uh yeah i put that together uh over the break i believe after
11:50training camp um and i i do i have one other one lego uh truck or car that i did
11:58a couple years ago
11:59and it's a nice uh indoor activity for me to waste time on and um you know as the snow
12:05starts to come
12:06here at some point i may do a little bit more of that but i enjoy i enjoy building things
12:10and i think
12:10it's fun and um i wouldn't say i'm doing it all the time but maybe once a year so my
12:14daughter actually
12:15is getting into legos right now as well she watches like youtube all the time and she watches like
12:19these lego builders do you do any of that too or they're pretty famous are these streamers or whatever
12:24that no you don't want to i'm not i'm not that far into the weeds on it i i just
12:29uh i just follow
12:30the instructions on my own and figure it out but i know those those toy guys on youtube are sure
12:35doing well you know they're they're they're raking it in jared we appreciate the time as always thanks
