00:05Well, we kick off from Kingston, Jamaica, where club Sando are currently locked in battle
00:11against the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup defending champions. And that is Mount Pleasant at
00:17Sabina Park. Club Sando held the champs to a one-all draw in the semi-final first leg
00:23and will be hoping to pull off the upset tonight. As we take a live look at the score now
00:29and as
00:29you can see, the match is still goalless, closing in on 30 minutes of action. Let's
00:35hope club Sando can get the job done.
00:53Of course, we'll update you on the score at the end of this broadcast.
00:58We leave Kingston now for Azerbaijan as our under-15 footballers have completed the long
01:05journey to Western Asia. The 14 players and staff have quickly started getting acclimatized
01:11to the environment and playing surfaces. Head coach Randolph Boyce was presented with a participation
01:17certificate and they have already got through a practice session and should have a couple
01:23more ahead of the opening match on Saturday. TNT will open their under-15 World Cup tournament
01:29against St. Kitts and Nevis from 3.30 p.m. at the Hovsan Complex.
01:36We remain in Asia. It was a tough opening day on the field for the West Indies in their day
01:42two warm-up and that's ahead of the opening test against Bangladesh starting next week.
01:48Playing against the Bangladesh Cricket Board 11 in Dhaka, the men in Maroon put the opposition
01:54into bat which saw the home side closing on 371 for seven. Kalam Siddiqui tops scored with
02:02135 while Jishan Alam made 86. From the West Indies, Kavam Hodge has picked up two for 34 and Joshua
02:11Bishop
02:12has two for 87. There was one wicket apiece for Jaden Seals, Jamal Warrikan and Kevin Wickham.
02:19Day two begins at midnight TT time.
02:23Well, today is a rest day at the America's Regional Netball World Cup qualifiers. However,
02:29our Calypso girls have maintained their winning start, making it three wins from as many matches.
02:35TNT had a tougher challenge than expected as they held off the United States 4-3-38.
02:43It was billed as a mismatch as the United States Eagles came up against the tournament favorites,
02:48TNT's Calypso girls. And it was the TNT defense making the difference in the early going.
02:53USA, but into the hands of Trinidad and Tobago, goalkeeper, quickly into the circle, good pass,
03:03into Samantha Wallace, Joseph, and she scores.
03:06But neither team found their scoring touch as they failed to crack double figures in the first quarter.
03:11After jumping out to big early leads against Grenada and St. Vincent,
03:15the U.S. women presented more of a challenge, as the Calypso girls' advantage was just four at the half.
03:21That goal would stand. So, 22-18.
03:27The U.S. Eagles were hardly a mismatch fighting to the bitter end,
03:30but even when Samantha Wallace-Joseph made a rare miss, the defense made the difference.
03:36The quarter comes to an end, but it's Trinidad and Tobago,
03:39St. Vincent, they know that time is coming down. So, again, to the goal shooter.
03:45She misses. She misses. So, opportunity for the Eagles.
03:50An interception by Simongo.
03:53And good goal. Wow.
03:55What a play there by Samantha and Seagull.
03:58You can hear the crowd.
04:00As the Calypso girls held off the U.S.A.
04:02As the Calypso girls held off the U.S.A. Eagles by only five.
04:07Oh, one opportunity.
04:09And that was the end of the game.
04:11They were hustling, trying to get that last shot in.
04:13U.S.A. 38, Trinidad and Tobago, 43.
04:18Terrence Clark, TV6 Sport.
04:21While TNT did not dominate as expected,
04:24both the skippers, Samantha Wallace-Joseph and coach Lizelle Johnson,
04:27were pleased with the effort and are not taking any opponent for granted.
04:33This game today in particular was very physical.
04:37It brought out the best out of our ladies, as you saw.
04:40More teamwork. They played together.
04:42They decided that we are going to stay on top and they fought till the end
04:45to ensure that they met that goal.
04:48Samantha, how did you find this game coming from internationally down to Caribbean?
04:55Actually, I found this game very nice.
04:57While I was saying that, I think U.S.A. came out with a bang
04:59and I think we matched the energy.
05:01And as coach Wifele said, we stick on top.
05:03That was our goal coming up at halftime.
05:05And I'm really proud of the girls.
05:06I know you guys probably came favorites,
05:10being the highest ranked team at number 12.
05:13So I believe you guys, what do you expect to get from this tournament?
05:17I expect that we will continue to meet teams such as we did today with U.S.A.
05:21They are bringing their best.
05:23Everybody wants to be a part of this final selected too.
05:26So I'm not expecting any team to just allow us to walk through them.
05:30So I'm expecting all teams to come with their best
05:33and to put forward a fight for this.
05:36Well, Team Trinidad and Tobago are in St. Martin for the 2026 Caribbean Dinghy Championships,
05:43which gets underway tomorrow until Sunday.
05:46The national contingent comprising 14 athletes arrived in St. Martin on Tuesday,
05:52accompanied by their coaches and team manager.
05:55The team traveled early to allow athletes an additional day of practice,
05:59providing an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the local sailing conditions.
06:05The event brings together some of the region's leading sailors,
06:09providing an important platform for the regional competition,
06:13athlete development and international exposure.
06:18Well, it's good news for all fours fans.
06:20A new tournament known as the Carib Legacy Cup is on next year.
06:25It's being developed as TNT's premier all fours championships,
06:30bringing together the culture, the competition and community
06:34that have made all fours one of the region's most celebrated card games.
06:39It goes without saying that the game of all fours brings joy to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
06:48The good news is that a championship known as the Legacy Cup is taking place early next year.
06:52It has been organized by HSBC Legends in conjunction with Dr. Jack Warner.
06:57Wednesday's launch was held at Angostura House,
07:00highlighting the company's involvement as co-presenter and official rum partner.
07:04Let me begin by saying that all fours is a school of life.
07:10It teaches you to win. It teaches you to lose.
07:14But you have to bear in mind that when you lose, there are consequences.
07:20You may get a curse from your partner.
07:23You may get a curse from people who are outside looking on.
07:26But the fact is that all fours does all that and more.
07:31It brings people together.
07:32Being an avid fan of all fours herself,
07:36Angostura's executive manager of marketing, Hazel Ann Marshall,
07:39was delighted to be a part of this initiative.
07:41She said it went hand in hand with Trinidad and Tobago's culture.
07:45I actually learned to play when I was about 15 years old.
07:48I would not reveal where I learned to play.
07:51And over the years, I have hung many jacks.
07:55All fours is a part of our culture, bringing generations together in homes, bars,
08:02communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
08:05According to HSDC executive director, Rachel Jeremiah Maraj,
08:09this tournament is not just about the players and the competition.
08:12This initiative is being seen as one which will help other businesses thrive.
08:16We see uniform makers, food vendors, printers, designers, officials, venues and production crews.
08:29Visiting teams and their supporters create opportunities for accommodation,
08:37transport, dining and local experiences.
08:41The tournament takes place from February 12th to the 14th at the Centre of Excellence in McCoy,
08:47with a prize pool worth $1 million TT.
08:50Vinod, now on ITVS Sport.
08:52So I learned to play all fours in UE and Disha tells me she learned in NAPS.
08:57Form four.
08:58Switching. Form four, she says.
09:00So switching sports now.
09:02The football never stops as there were no fewer than 18 matches across Europe in the UEFA Europa League.
09:09One of the tournament favourites, Juventus, were held to a draw at home against French opponents.
09:15AC Milan crashed to defeat away to Bournemouth,
09:18while Bayern Leverkusen stayed perfect with a 2-0 victory.
09:24While Juventus have struggled for form and consistency in Italy,
09:28Europe has been their silver lining following two wins.
09:30And they made a bright start against Stadoren.
09:40The French club has never won in Italy in their previous five attempts,
09:44but found the equaliser.
09:46What a real opportunity and there is an equaliser.
09:51For a good period, the visitors looked the more dangerous side
09:54and with just reward as Boulaye Dia converted the penalty to lead the Italians at the break.
10:04It took the Biancaneri some time, but their pressure finally found success
10:08as German Nick Valtemada scored to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw for the old lady.
10:14Which he does. He wins the game of cat and mouse.
10:19Juve lost their perfect record, but Bayer Leverkusen maintained theirs against Islanders Ophi Kriet.
10:26Finally!
10:27Jonas Hoffmann scored both goals for the German club.
10:29A chance for Hoffmann! He's done it again!
10:32Contrastantly, French club Marseille have lost all three of their matches.
10:38Austrian club Stoomgratz inflicted the 1-0 defeat on the struggling French club.
10:44AC Milan also saw their perfect start ended following a convincing 3-0 defeat away to Bournemouth.
10:50The Italians had French keeper Mike Magnan sent off in the first half as they crumbled to defeat.
10:58Polish club Lech Poznan rescued a point in a 1-1 draw against English club Sunderland,
11:03ending their perfect start to the competition.
11:09To the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco,
11:14both China and USA advanced from their Group E after winning their respective matches.
11:19The Chinese thrashed Samoa 7-0 while the Americans took care of Kenya 6-1.
11:26In Group F, Spain also reached the knockout stage after getting the better of Australia 3-1.
11:32And Mexico beat Chile also by a similar 3-1 margin.
11:37We have the pulsating action.
11:42The FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup saw China in red taking on Samoa,
11:46with the Chinese aiming to get to the next round.
11:49And it was an easy one for the ladies from the Asian continent.
11:52China leads.
11:55They seemed to be scoring goals at will against the women from Oceana.
12:03In the end, China won the match by 7 goals to nothing to make it 2-2.
12:10In the other Group E match, the United States of America were also looking to advance to the next round
12:16when they took on Kenya.
12:18Off the cross, Di Maria stretching for a yes!
12:22Madi Di Maria was the star for the Americans with a beaver trick
12:25as the USA won the match by 6 goals to 1.
12:29In Group F, Chile faced Mexico in the white uniform.
12:33And the South Americans drew first blood in the 12th minute through Munoz.
12:36And they get the opening goal.
12:39Brilliant skill to take the lead.
12:43But the Mexicans leveled matches in the 35th,
12:46with Urbano getting her name on the score sheet.
12:48Fields releases the ball rather than continuing their run,
12:52goes right across.
12:54There was no looking back thereafter,
12:55as Reyes with a one-time shot gave Mexico the lead for the first time in the 65th.
13:00Mexico, chance to cut in.
13:02And Jimenez sealed the deal in the 83rd,
13:05as Mexico won 3-1, leaving Chile with one point.
13:12Also in Group F, Spain took on Australia,
13:15with the Europeans also looking to get to the knockout stage.
13:19In the 10th minute, Angela Galvez made it 1-0 to the ladies in red.
13:25Made that 2-0 to the Spaniards in the 16th minute,
13:28as Elena Vizuete with the header found the back of the net.
13:34It got worse for the Aussies,
13:36as an infringement inside the box led to a penalty.
13:40Galvez converted the kick in the 66th,
13:42and notched a double in the process.
13:47But Australia did manage to put one back in the 68th,
13:50with Carabares scoring a beauty.
13:52But Spain prevailed in the end,
13:54winning the match 3-1 to advance further.
14:00Well, it's time for your sports short segment,
14:04and Manchester United's manager is in the hot seat,
14:08China snaps the America's dominance in gymnastics,
14:11and rugby is mourning the death of a teenage player.
14:25The pressure is mounting on Manchester United's manager,
14:28Michael Carrick,
14:29as their winless run continued with a 4-0 thrashing
14:32to Italian club Cuomo in the Champions League yesterday.
14:35United are on a 7-match winless streak,
14:37and things are not easy on the manager,
14:40after the club's captain, Bruno Fernandes,
14:42questioned his tactics.
14:43It's not about playing for me,
14:45it's about playing for this football club.
14:47It's the responsibility that comes with,
14:49whether I'm in the position,
14:51I'm responsible for the football club and the supporters.
14:53I'm giving my best.
14:54I've not given my own position any thought of it.
14:57This is the supporters,
14:58and I was one of them tonight watching that,
15:00and I wasn't happy at all.
15:02And there was a massive upset
15:03at the World Gymnastics Championships
15:05in Rotterdam, Netherlands,
15:06as China handed the United States
15:08their first defeat in 16 years
15:11in the women's team final,
15:13winning goal by just .233 of a point.
15:16Japan also earned their first major title,
15:19winning bronze for the first time in 60 years.
15:33And a 17-year-old female amateur rugby player
15:36has died following an on-field injury
15:38during a match in France.
15:40Claire Mounier suffered what was described as an accident
15:42while playing with her club,
15:44Union Basse Mamande.
15:46She received medical treatment on the field
15:48before being taken to hospital in Bordeaux,
15:50where she died from her injuries.
16:01Well, let's zoom off to the African continent now.
16:04Despite rain interrupting a huge part of the second test,
16:08South Africa beat Australia on the final day
16:10by an innings and 31 runs.
16:13We have the demolition job,
16:15which saw three-game contests tied at 1-0.
16:23Australia began the final day of the second test
16:25against South Africa on 156-4,
16:28still requiring another 170 to avoid an innings defeat.
16:32Overnight batters Travis Head
16:34and night watchman Scott Boland
16:35had their work cut out for them.
16:41Head, who resumed on 87,
16:43got to his century in style,
16:44that being his 13th at chest level.
16:47This year, he's settled into the opening position
16:50and now has his 4th 100.
16:52They put on a partnership of 59 for the 5th wicket.
16:55Slashed away, 4, the Scott Boland.
17:00Head was gone for 121,
17:02giving Rian Mulder the scab.
17:04Then Steve Smith departed for 3,
17:06with Kogiso Ravada getting the big fish.
17:08Should be caught.
17:10Oh, it is caught. It is caught.
17:12It got worse as Mulder took the wickets of Boland for 4-0
17:15and Captain Pat Cummins for 4 to end with 3.
17:19Alex Carey was also among the runs with an unbeaten 37,
17:22but it had no impact on the outcome.
17:25Rabada was to pick up the bowlers with 4 wickets.
17:28And Marco Jansen took the last one
17:30as Australia were all out for 295,
17:33giving the Pro Tiers victory by an innings and 31 runs.
17:39We head to Los Angeles where the L.A. Lakers started life
17:43without LeBron James on a positive note
17:45against Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
17:49Lakers new center Walker Kessler was perfect
17:51on all 12 attempts to score 26 points,
17:55while Luka Doncic top scored with 28
17:58as the Lakers thrashed the Warriors 127-105.
18:04Austin Reeves looking to Doncic as he drives baseline,
18:08makes the behind-the-back pass to Walker Kessler,
18:12who dunks.
18:13Luka just putting on an absolute clinic,
18:1528 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists.
18:19He says that he's not done yet
18:21because he drives and then makes this no-look bounce pass
18:25to Kessler, who then slams it on home.
18:28That's 26 points, 9 rebounds for Kessler in this one.
18:31Lakers pulling away here as Austin Reeves
18:34drives down the lane, making the contested layup.
18:37Reeves, 23 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds in this one.
18:41And then Lakers again, this time on the offensive end.
18:44Jaden Hardy drives, kicks it out to Zaire Williams,
18:47who creates space and then hits that mid-range jumper.
18:51And with that, L.A. takes this game, 127-105.
18:59Power to the Aussie women.
19:02It's our play of the day.
19:05The following is brought to you by LucasAid.
19:08Bring the energy.
19:09Spain got the better of Australia by three goals to one
19:12in their FIFA women's under-17 group game in Morocco.
19:15Following a neat build-up,
19:16Angela Galvez scored the opener for the Europeans.
19:18Themselves the opening goal within the first 10 minutes.
19:23Angela Galvez.
19:25But the Aussies scored a gem in the 60th minute
19:28when the ball landed in the path of Cara Berris.
19:31She curled it in, which gave the keeper no chance.
19:34You beauty.
19:35What a ripper, mate.
19:37What a moment for Australia.
19:40Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
19:48You can't win them all.
19:49But for that gem of a strike from Cara Berris,
19:52the lady from Australia fires her way into tonight's TV6.
19:58Play of the day.
20:00The preceding was brought to you by LucasAid.
20:03Bring the energy.
20:06Well, just an update.
20:08The Club Sando versus Mount Pleasant game.
20:10That's the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup semifinal.
20:13Second leg.
20:14It is still a go-less draw.
20:18Well, that's it from the sport desk.
20:20After the break, it's back to D-Show.
20:24Okay, let me see.
