00:00One of my favourite attempts at a random act of kindness, which is something that happens to me surprisingly often,
00:05is I'll be out with Billy, just the two of us, or maybe me and โ it especially happens if
00:12I'm out with another dad and their child.
00:15Some lovely member of the public, usually an older person, will look at us and go, oh, aren't you sweet
00:24giving your wife the day off?
00:25That's very kind of you.
00:27And then you kind of have to go like โ you kind of have to nod along and go like,
00:32yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:33Because otherwise it's too hard to explain, like, actually, like, I don't have a wife.
00:37We have a whole podcast to get to, Rob.
00:39Like, there's a lot of thoughts percolating inside of you.
00:43They mean well.
00:44Yes, they do.
00:45They mean well.
00:45They do think I'm being a good dad.
00:48But I don't want to โ do they mean well, though?
00:51I mean, it's the idea that โ it's like the daddy daycare thing, or the, oh, you're babysitting your kids
00:58today.
00:59That drives me insane.
01:00And I understand traditionally, yes, the mother is the primary caregiver, but it does.
01:05It just opens up that whole โ
01:07I find it a very, like โ it's a very old-fashioned way of looking at it.
01:11And, like, they mean well.
01:12Yes.
01:13But, you know, dads can look after their kids, and when dads are looking after their kids, it's not babysitting.
01:19No.
01:19It's just parenting.
