00:03A very unsettled 24 hours or so with heavy downpours, risk of snow and ice and also some strong winds developing.
00:10Cold air we've had in place for the year so far is finally being shunted out of the way
00:15and we're seeing mild Atlantic weather systems move in, bringing the increased risk of heavy rain.
00:20Some strong winds that combined with snow melt is likely to lead to some flooding in places and disruption.
00:26But we do have some further snow on the way as well.
00:29The next weather system bringing heavy rain to parts of Northern Ireland, Western Scotland as we go through this evening and early hours.
00:35Bumping up against the cold air it will turn to snow, particularly over the higher ground of Scotland, northern parts of England.
00:41We could see 20 to 30 centimetres of snow above 200 to 300 metres across parts of Scotland.
00:47So there is a Met Office amber warning out here.
00:50Also the winds continuing to strengthen as this weather system moves in.
00:54We could see 50, 60 mile an hour gusts, particularly as we head across parts of Scotland.
00:59Met Office warnings for rain, the wind in force as well.
01:03So do stay tuned to the forecast as there is a lot going on.
01:06Outbreaks of rain also possible during the early hours for Wales and the West Country.
01:11Staying cold and icy across eastern England, maybe one or two mist and fog patches.
01:15There's temperatures here for well below freezing.
01:17Mild air trying to get into the west, 7 or 8 degrees to start Sunday morning here.
01:22But outbreaks of heavy rain looking at the details for Sunday morning.
01:26Heavy snow across Scotland likely to lead to some disruption combined with strong and gusty southerly winds is likely to lead to some blowing of that snow.
01:34In between to lower levels, the risk of some freezing rain leading to some icy conditions, rain around the coasts as well.
01:41So a lot of disruption possible through Sunday morning across Scotland.
01:45Heavy rain across Northern Ireland.
01:47A tricky commute here with some flooding in places.
01:50A mixture of rain, sleet and heavy snow, particularly over the higher ground of Northern England as well.
01:55Icy stretches possible here.
01:57Rain for Wales, the West Country.
01:59But a dry start across southeast England.
02:02Through the day we'll see the whole area of rain, sleet and snow pushing northeastwards through the morning in particular.
02:07But the milder air starting to come in.
02:10So the snow turning to rain as we go through the day.
02:13And then by the afternoon, most places seeing outbreaks of heavy rain.
02:16Strong and gusty southerly winds with mild air starting to come in.
02:20So temperatures really starting to rise.
02:2211, 12 Celsius across southern and southwestern parts of the UK.
02:2610 degrees there in Belfast.
02:28But the colder air still in place across eastern England.
02:313 or 4 degrees at best.
02:32But high enough here to start melting the snow, particularly across Scotland.
02:36And this combined with heavy rain that continues to move in here, we are likely to see some disruption from flooding.
02:43Into the evening time on Sunday.
02:45Further heavy rain pushing north and eastwards.
02:47Flooding possible in places as this system moves through.
02:50The low pressure centre brings some very strong winds across Northern Ireland into northwest Scotland.
02:55Perhaps 70, maybe even 80 miles an hour in exposed coasts here.
02:59But showers following elsewhere with a brisk southwesterly breeze.
03:03So temperatures overnight into Monday much higher than what we've seen of late.
03:07Generally for everybody staying above freezing.
03:10So mild mixed start to Monday morning.
03:13Heavy rain and strong winds across the highlands.
03:15Pushing up into Orkney and Shetland through the morning.
03:18Elsewhere a bright start in places.
03:20But cloud and rain quickly pushing up across parts of England and Wales.
03:24As we move through the day here.
03:26In between some brighter breaks every so often.
03:28But staying particularly gusty with those winds coming in from the southwest.
03:32So for everybody mild once more.
03:3411, 12 Celsius across southern parts of England and Wales.
03:389 or 10 for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland.
03:40So snow melt will continue.
03:42And there is likely to be further flooding as we go through the next few days.
03:46It stays unsettled as we go through next week as well.
