00:00Let's check in with Rochelle for tonight's weather forecast.
00:04Thanks, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. Let's get right to your weather.
00:09Let's begin with last night. Heavy rainfall affected southern and eastern Trinidad
00:15as repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms moved from southeast to northwest.
00:20More than 500 lightning flashes were detected mainly off Trinidad's southeastern coast,
00:27with the flashes visible across much of central and southern Trinidad.
00:32I know some of you enjoyed those conditions and slept like a baby.
00:36But will we get any showers tonight?
00:38Well, the Met Office says fair conditions are expected despite a few brief showers
00:44with minimum temperatures at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 25 in Tobago.
00:50And tomorrow's conditions will call for sunscreen, a hat and lots and lots of water.
00:57Much like today, it will be generally hot and sunny, with a few cloudy spells and showers at times.
01:04Some of those showers could become heavy during the afternoon,
01:08particularly across hilly and western areas of Trinidad,
01:12with daytime temperatures reaching up to 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 over in Tobago.
01:19And it looks like you will need those same items for Thursday, but not on Friday.
01:25Let's talk about it.
01:26Thursday will bring hot and sunny daytime conditions, despite light to moderate afternoon showers.
01:33And on Friday, partly cloudy daytime conditions are expected, with showers occurring.
01:39Let's take a look at our sun times now.
01:41In Trinidad, sunrise is at 5.54 and 5.51 in Tobago,
01:45and sunset at 5.52 in Trinidad and 5.49 in Tobago.
01:50And if your view tomorrow will be sand and sea, well, seas will be moderate with waves,
01:561.5 metres to 2 metres in open waters, and below 1 metre in sheltered areas.
02:02All marine interests are advised to exercise caution,
02:05as occasional long-period swells could cause choppy conditions near shore,
02:10especially with spring tides from Wednesday, October 7th, which is tomorrow.
02:27Now you know I can't leave just yet without giving a quick Tuesday tip.
02:3230-minute rule.
02:33Don't wait for the rain to get heavy before taking lightning seriously.
02:37If you hear thunder, head indoors and wait 30 minutes after the last thunder before going back outside,
02:45because a 30-minute rule gives enough time for the thunderstorm to move farther away.
02:50And well, now you know.
02:52And that's all for Weather Tonight.
