00:00What were some of the other things you were talking about that you didn't like that were baked inside of
00:04that bill?
00:04I'm really curious kind of what's in it, because I kind of know the gist of it, but I kind
00:08of really want to get into what exactly this is.
00:12Oh, you know, I just think that I just think that that this is a start.
00:20But if you're going to if you're if you're going to have these caps around what the students can make,
00:27shouldn't we have caps around what coaches can make and other things along those lines?
00:32I'm just I'm just saying that that if we're you know, the colleges and universities are basically saying you have
00:41to have a cap so that we we know how much we can spend and we can retain athletes and
00:47do all those things.
00:49But if you want to cap for that, why wouldn't you want to cap on the amount of money that
00:53you can pay for for other aspects of your program as well?
00:56And I think that things like that are if you want to equalize and make the playing field level, you
01:03ought to you ought to consider doing that across the board.
01:06I find that very entertaining because like the schools, they're like asking for assistance to control themselves here because no
01:13one's forcing them to pay these coaches, these monster buyouts and these massive contracts.
01:18Well, look, look, what's in the bill, Steele, as you mentioned, there's a limit on one transfer, right?
01:27So that's a that's a big deal, capping that there's a there's a five five year overall cap that's in
01:34it.
01:35Right. However, there are exemptions that people can get.
01:41That's what I worry about. Like, who is going to make these exemptions?
01:46Are we going to be back, you know, seeing a judge or a conference have one set of exemptions versus
01:55another set of exemptions?
01:56So I just want to if you're going to if you're going to put a rule in place, make it
02:00a rule.
02:01Don't make it a rule unless, you know, we kind of don't like the rule.
02:05And and and so those things are those are things that I'm concerned about that I think will will probably
02:11get addressed in the process as the bill goes through the House.
02:14What is your hope? And just understanding this since you've you've been there, you know, and worked in this, that
02:22the House will take this up and this will get pushed through at some point in time over the next
02:28handful of months.
02:30Yeah, well, it won't it won't get addressed until after the election because the House isn't coming back until after
02:35the election.
02:36So there'll be a very short window to get that to get that done.
02:41And but deadlines are what force legislative bodies to work.
02:45You would never get it. You'd never get anything done if there wasn't a deadline.
02:48And so but that's true of a lot of things in life.
02:53But that's that's why just it's not nothing's going to happen on it for the next month because the House
02:58isn't in session.
02:59But it'll hopefully they'll they'll discuss it and hopefully they'll get some of these issues resolved in the next 30
03:06days or so.
03:07I know.
