00:00Another month and another 15 amazing apps you had no idea even existed.
00:04And definitely stick around to the end because I got some of the craziest apps
00:07that can basically temporarily root your Samsung Galaxies and Google Pixel devices real easily.
00:12Kind of like Shizuku, but on steroids.
00:14First off, I'm tired of Galaxy phones and a few other Android skins having stackable widgets
00:19while the rest of us are left behind.
00:21So I dug around and found this free open source gem called Widgets Anywhere.
00:25In that app, it brings that same feature to pretty much any Android device.
00:28Yup, I know it may sound too good to be true, but it works.
00:32You just drop a widget stack on your home screen and then pile on as many widgets as you want.
00:36Now, you can't actually swipe through them with your finger like on Galaxy phones,
00:40but you can tap these little arrows on the edge to flip through them.
00:43And the widgets that you put in there work the same way as before.
00:46They're still fully interactive and you can even resize the whole stack too
00:49and all the widgets inside adjust automatically.
00:51It's pretty great.
00:53Another app I've been loving these past few weeks is ReelCheck.
00:55Whenever I'm trying to find something to watch on Netflix or Hulu,
00:59I'm always looking up the ratings for each movie or TV show title
01:01just to make sure that it's worth watching.
01:04But that does take a bit of time, so now I've been using ReelCheck.
01:08I literally just point my phone's camera at a movie cover or TV show title
01:11and it'll instantly scan it and show me the IMDb rating right away.
01:15It's super quick and easy to use.
01:17It's really saved me from watching a bunch of bad movies.
01:19I just hope that in the future, they also add in Rotten Tomatoes scores too
01:23because that would be perfect.
01:24And that's just two out of the 15 apps that I got for you for September 2026.
01:28I appreciate all the love that you guys showed me on last month's episode for August,
01:32but real talk, I mean, the video got 6,000 likes,
01:35which is a little lower than what we usually hit.
01:37Please, guys, if we can just hit 10,000 likes this time,
01:40that would honestly mean the world to me.
01:42I mean, because finding 15 fresh apps every single month isn't easy.
01:45Plus, I'm still the only YouTuber doing this many apps every month,
01:48so the likes and comments really helps out a lot
01:50to just get me motivation to keep making these on a monthly basis.
01:54Thanks, guys.
01:55Moving on, I just came across my new favorite browser
01:58that's also open source called Candy Browser.
02:00For starters, it's got a really nice Material 3 Expressor design
02:03and it has a bunch of really clever tricks that most other browsers don't have.
02:08For example, on the bottom address bar,
02:10you can swipe left or right to quickly switch between your tabs.
02:13You can swipe up on it too and it opens up your recent tabs
02:16and then you can also flick any tab upward to just close it too.
02:19So you can easily navigate the whole browser.
02:21You can also long press on the link too
02:23to get a sneak peek of the page before actually opening it.
02:27That one's really handy.
02:28And it also has a built-in ad blocker,
02:30so any articles that you read are going to look clean.
02:32And if you tap this little number on the address bar,
02:34you can even pull up the secret menu called Privacy X-Ray.
02:38It basically shows you exactly how many ads and trackers have been blocked
02:41since you've started surfing the web on that specific tab.
02:45And even cooler, there's this Candy Trolls feature
02:47which creates this tree-style map of all the different websites
02:49that you jump between while browsing inside that tab.
02:53So you can basically retrace your entire browsing path.
02:56But my absolute favorite feature is their profiles.
02:58You can set up a work profile, a school profile, whatever you want,
03:02and all your tabs stay separate.
03:04So that way you don't mix up your personal stuff with your work browsing stuff.
03:08It's great.
03:09And I'm just barely scratching the surface here.
03:10There are so many more features packed into this browser.
03:13I definitely recommend it.
03:14From there, I have Droplert, which is about to save you some serious cash.
03:18Basically, when you're shopping online and you've got an eye on a product,
03:22you can just copy that link and paste it in this app
03:25and it'll start tracking the price for you.
03:27It can even check whenever you want, including every single hour
03:29or every 15 minutes if you get the Pro version.
03:32And then the moment the price drops, bam, you get a notification.
03:35On top of that, it also gives you a price history chart
03:38so you can see how often that product's price goes up or down.
03:42And the free version only lets you track five products.
03:44But if you get the Pro version, you can remove that limit for $10,
03:48which I'll be honest, is a bit steep.
03:50But in the end, I mean, it does save you cash.
03:52And the developer was cool enough to hook me up with 100 promo codes
03:55to give away my Patreon.
03:56So if you want to grab the Pro version for free,
03:59head on over there and snag one.
04:01Okay, old school Android users, this one's for you.
04:03Remember back in the day when unlocking your phone actually felt kind of cool?
04:07Like you'd swipe up and you'd get these awesome ripple effects or light flares.
04:11Now, those days are pretty much gone now
04:13until I found Legacy Lockstream Effects.
04:15This app brings back all those classic unlocking animations that we used to love.
04:19I mean, you've got the Galaxy S3's water ripple
04:22with that satisfying droplet sound.
04:24You've got the Galaxy S4's lens flare.
04:28The S5's colorful particles.
04:31And even the Galaxy Tab S crystal grid
04:33that just reveals itself after you touch the screen.
04:36There's a whole bunch more to choose from
04:37and you can even get some nice charging animations as well.
04:40Definitely recommend it.
04:41Moving on, anytime I switch away from my Galaxy S26 Ultra,
04:44I just absolutely miss that privacy display
04:47that just stops people from being able to peek at my screen,
04:50especially when I'm texting someone.
04:52Luckily, though, I found Shade Type,
04:54which gives you something very similar.
04:56Not the same technology, obviously,
04:58but whenever you're about to type something,
05:00this little button appears right above your keyboard.
05:02And if you tap it,
05:03the app covers the rest of your screen with a dark sheet
05:06while keeping your keyboard fully visible.
05:08So you can still type away normally,
05:10just your conversation will be blocked out.
05:12And don't worry, the sheet is slightly transparent
05:14so you can actually see what you're typing,
05:16but anyone sitting next to you
05:17is going to have a much harder time reading your conversation.
05:20If you want to go full stealth mode,
05:22you can even get the pro version
05:23and make the sheet completely non-transparent.
05:26So that way, no one can see what you're typing,
05:28not even you.
05:29But if you need to quickly check the conversation,
05:31you can just press and hold it
05:32and you'll be able to peek through.
05:34Then once you let go,
05:35it instantly hides everything again.
05:36It's pretty handy for when you're on the train or a plane.
05:39A huge shout out to Naps11
05:41on my HowToMyReddit page for the recommendation.
05:43If you've also got an app that you think I should check out,
05:46definitely recommend it on there.
05:47And if I pick it,
05:48I'll give you a shout out in the next episode.
05:50Next up, I've been looking for a really good video editor
05:53because I've used CapCut all the time,
05:55but their pricing is starting to get pretty crazy.
05:58So lately, I've been using this FOSS app called Libra Cuts.
06:01Now, it definitely doesn't have every fancy feature
06:03that you'd find in CapCut,
06:05but for what I need, it gets the job done.
06:07Like it's got a proper timeline
06:09that you can scrub through,
06:10there are no watermarks in your videos,
06:12and you can export everything in glorious 4K.
06:15You can also trim and merge clips,
06:17add text that you can also customize,
06:19add images, and even overlay other videos.
06:23You can also throw in transitions,
06:25change the playback speed,
06:27add filters,
06:28and even record voiceovers directly inside the app.
06:31And if you want to get a little more advanced,
06:33you've also got things like green screen removal,
06:35subtitles,
06:36and a bunch of other editing tools.
06:37So no, I probably wouldn't use this
06:39to edit some massive 20-minute YouTube video,
06:42but for shorts or just quick edits on your phone,
06:44it's honestly more than fine.
06:46Check this out.
06:47On my phone, I can open X,
06:49start a draft,
06:50and tap this floating button above my keyboard
06:52to start voice typing.
06:53But while I'm still talking,
06:54I can also jump into other apps,
06:56like my browser to do some research.
06:58I can open my Notes app as well and check that too,
07:01and it just keeps listening to what I'm saying.
07:03Then I can jump back into X,
07:05hit the check mark,
07:06and everything I said gets turned into a clean,
07:08nicely formatted post.
07:10That's next-level voice typing right there.
07:11Definitely way better
07:12than Android's voice dictation by default.
07:14And it's all thanks to Whisperflow,
07:16today's sponsor.
07:17I've been using it for months now,
07:18and it's really just helped me write messages way faster
07:20while also cleaning up my grammar.
07:22I've even started using it a ton for AI prompts.
07:25So instead of typing some tiny five-word question
07:27or command into ChatGPT,
07:29I can just ramble for 30 seconds
07:31to just give it way more context,
07:33and Whisperflow can turn all that
07:35into a nice, clean prompt.
07:36That way, I'm actually giving AI
07:38everything that's in my head
07:39instead of just cutting my thoughts short
07:41just because I don't feel like typing everything out.
07:43And just to show you
07:44how much better Whisperflow is
07:45than Android's default dictation,
07:47here's a live comparison between the two.
07:49Hey, Facundo.
07:50Hope you're doing well.
07:51For tomorrow's shoot,
07:52one, make sure the footage is in 4K
07:54and exported with H.265 formatting.
07:56Two, send the thumbnail before 3 p.m.
07:58I mean, 1 p.m.
07:59Three, make sure to use the Sony FX3
08:01when shooting the interview.
08:02Thanks so much.
08:03Best regards, Benjamin.
08:06As you can clearly see,
08:08Whisperflow did a much better job
08:09turning my rant into an actual email.
08:11The formatting is cleaner,
08:13the grammar is better,
08:14and it even understood
08:15when I corrected myself halfway through.
08:17And by the way,
08:18Whisperflow isn't just on Android.
08:19It works on desktop and iPhone too,
08:22so you can use it
08:23on pretty much any device you own.
08:24So if you do a lot of typing during the day,
08:27definitely give Whisperflow a try.
08:28It's completely free to download and use.
08:30And if you use my link in the description
08:32and use promo code HOWTOMEN,
08:34you'll also get a month of Whisperflow Pro
08:36with unlimited words for free.
08:38I definitely recommend it.
08:39Now, if you're getting tired
08:40of your music streaming app
08:41that's charging a ridiculous amount of money every month,
08:43like Spotify,
08:44you've got to check out LastWay.
08:46It's completely free and open source,
08:48and it lets you play absolutely any song that you want
08:50at the highest quality possible.
08:52Like we're talking high-res,
08:54lossless flack,
08:55up to 24-bit,
08:57192 kilohertz.
08:58Yeah, that's right.
08:59So if you've got a solid pair of headphones
09:01or a DAC,
09:02you can actually take advantage
09:03of that much higher audio quality.
09:05And if you're someone who uses Last.fm,
09:07it gets even better too
09:08because LastWay can automatically scrabble
09:11what you're listening to
09:11even when you're using other music apps on your phone.
09:14And my favorite feature too
09:15is that it even uses AI
09:16to let you generate unique playlists.
09:19And the whole UI is built around
09:20that beautiful Material 3 Expressive design
09:23so it looks gorgeous
09:24and navigating the interface feels really smooth.
09:27Definitely worth giving a shot.
09:28Okay, now let's replace your health and fitness app.
09:30I mean, a lot of them just force you
09:32to create an account,
09:33sync everything to the cloud,
09:35and hand over all your personal activity data.
09:37And honestly, I'm over it.
09:39That's why I've been using Stride.
09:40It's a free and open source app
09:42that uses your phone's built-in pedometer
09:44to just track your steps
09:45and gives you all the useful stuff that you need
09:48like calories burned,
09:50distance walked,
09:51active minutes,
09:52goals,
09:52and your history
09:53all without needing to sign up for anything.
09:55And the app itself actually looks really nice too
09:57since it's got that Material 3 Expressive design.
10:00But on top of that,
10:01it even lets you switch
10:02to some really cool unique themes too.
10:04A huge shout out to Skedits
10:05for the recommendation on my Reddit page.
10:07From there,
10:08this next one's got a mouthful of a name.
10:10It's called OnStop 2 Finish and Remove Task.
10:13Yeah, that's the name.
10:15And it does one really simple thing.
10:17Basically, whenever you leave an app
10:18and you just switch to something else,
10:20it automatically closes that previous app for you.
10:23Like it won't even show up
10:24in your recent apps anymore.
10:25That means you can save more battery
10:26and don't have unnecessary stuff
10:28running in the background,
10:29especially if your phone is a little old
10:31and doesn't have that much RAM.
10:32And don't worry,
10:33it doesn't close every single app.
10:35You get to choose exactly which ones
10:37get automatically closed
10:38when you head back to the home screen.
10:40The only catch
10:40is that it just needs Suzuku
10:42to be able to run.
10:43But once that's set up,
10:44it works like a charm.
10:45Look,
10:46there are already a ridiculous number
10:47of file managers on Android.
10:49So for me to actually switch to a new one,
10:51it's got to bring something extra to the table.
10:52And that's exactly where Filo stands out.
10:55Instead of just letting you move files around,
10:57it basically combines a file manager
10:58with a bunch of utility apps
11:00that I'd normally have to download separately.
11:02Like it helps you figure out
11:03what's eating up all your storage,
11:05finding duplicate files,
11:06showing you the biggest ones,
11:08and even giving you a space map
11:09to visualize it all.
11:11But that's not all.
11:12You can also convert files,
11:13remove EXIF and GPS data
11:15from photos,
11:16you can blur faces in your photos,
11:18extract audio from videos,
11:20edit PDFs with the pro version,
11:22and way more.
11:23And on top of that,
11:24it actually looks really good
11:25since it's running
11:25a Material 3 expressive design.
11:28Definitely installed
11:28an all-in-one file management tool.
11:30Shout out to noletice6176
11:32for the recommendation
11:33on my Reddit page.
11:34It's actually been a really long time
11:36since I've seen an icon pack
11:37that's genuinely caught my eye.
11:39Like, literally years.
11:40But finally,
11:41one came along that did.
11:42It's called Stick Little Icon,
11:44and it costs $1.50.
11:45Honestly, I happily paid for it
11:47because the icons
11:48just really make the home screen pop.
11:50They kind of remind me
11:51of little stickers
11:51because they got this thick white outline
11:53and a soft shadow behind them.
11:55And that right there
11:56just makes them pop beautifully
11:57on any wallpaper.
11:58Now, it does have around 900 icons so far,
12:01which might not seem like a lot yet,
12:03but keep in mind
12:04that it only dropped two months ago.
12:05And apparently,
12:06each icon is handcrafted
12:08by the developer himself.
12:09They're not AI-generated,
12:10which is pretty rare these days.
12:12Definitely worth checking out.
12:13And the developer was cool enough
12:14to give me 100 promo codes
12:15to give away on my Patreon.
12:17So head over there
12:18if you want to grab one.
12:19And since we're already
12:19talking about customization,
12:20I also came across
12:22this really clean little widget pack
12:23called Quick Peek.
12:24It's also a paid app,
12:25but it's only 50 cents.
12:27So you'll be okay.
12:28It's basically these widgets
12:29that feel like what Google
12:31should have done
12:31with the at-a-glance widget.
12:33They belong on the top
12:34or maybe at the bottom of your screen.
12:35And they just give you
12:36all the info you need
12:37in this incredibly minimal,
12:38sleek design
12:40that stays out of the way.
12:41On top of that,
12:42there are 12 different widgets
12:43that you can choose from.
12:44So you've got plenty of options.
12:45And they just really complete
12:47your home screen really nicely.
12:49From there,
12:49I got one of the wildest launchers
12:51that I've seen in a while.
12:52And I mean that in a good way.
12:53It's called Nocebo Launcher.
12:55And instead of giving you
12:56a normal home screen,
12:57it basically gives you
12:58a giant fidget spinner
12:59made of your own apps.
13:01Like the apps around the outside
13:02literally spin around the screen
13:04as you flick it.
13:05And it's weirdly satisfying.
13:06You can also tap the middle of it
13:08to switch over
13:09to another ring of apps.
13:10And then right in the center,
13:11you can also place
13:12your own custom sticker.
13:13But that's not the entire launcher.
13:15You can also swipe over to the right
13:16and you get a more
13:17traditional home screen
13:18where you can place
13:18your normal apps
13:19and widgets down.
13:21Then you can swipe up
13:21and you've also got
13:22a proper app drawer.
13:24There's a decent amount
13:24of customization too.
13:26It's definitely not going
13:26to be for everyone,
13:27but I love when launchers
13:28actually try something different.
13:30And this one basically gives
13:31you a little distraction toy
13:33every time you get bored.
13:34Next, I got a two-for-one special
13:36and these are definitely
13:37the craziest apps
13:38on the entire list.
13:39One is called RootMyGalaxy
13:41and the other is RootMyPixel.
13:43On certain supported devices,
13:44which their GitHub pages
13:46show you exactly what's supported,
13:47these apps can actually
13:49give your phones
13:49temporary root access
13:51without you having to
13:52go through the usual headache
13:53of unlocking the bootloader.
13:55Yeah, it's pretty mind-blowing.
13:57Like for the Galaxy,
13:57you basically tap this blue banner
13:59at the top
13:59and have it installed
14:00the Kern OSU.
14:02And then from that one tap,
14:03it'll check your exact phone model,
14:05software build,
14:05and kernel version
14:06to make sure everything's compatible.
14:08And if it matches,
14:09it handles all the rooting process for you.
14:11And if it works,
14:11you'll get that check mark
14:12and then you can run
14:13any rooted apps
14:14or even flash modules
14:15on your phone.
14:17Of course, do this at your own risk.
14:18I'm not responsible for your phone,
14:20but if you run into any issues,
14:22you can just reboot
14:23and the root is gone
14:24and your phone should be back to normal
14:25since it's only temporary.
14:27Kind of like how Shizuku works.
14:29For the Pixel,
14:30it just takes a similar approach.
14:31It just uses Shizuku as well
14:33and another app called Risu Kisu,
14:36which I'll also link down below.
14:37Together,
14:38they exploit a vulnerability
14:39to temporarily load the Kern OSU
14:42and grant your Pixel phone root access.
14:44And for both of these,
14:45keep in mind that
14:46it takes more than one try.
14:48Like you may not get it
14:49on the first try
14:50because they're trying to gain root access
14:52through a vulnerability on Android.
14:54And again,
14:54I want to highly emphasize this.
14:56Since we're talking about root access,
14:57you should definitely know
14:58what you're getting into
14:59before messing around with it.
15:00But the fact we're at a point
15:02where certain phones
15:03can basically get temporary root access
15:05from an app
15:05without unlocking the bootloader
15:07is pretty wild.
15:08And that's a wrap
15:09for this month's 15 apps.
15:10I hope you found at least
15:11a few gems in here.
15:12And if you did,
15:13just please a quick thumbs up
15:14would really go a long way
15:15to hit that 10,000 like goal.
15:17So that way I can keep making these videos.
15:19Thanks so much for watching
15:20and I'll catch you guys
15:21in the next one.
15:22Kapow!
