Google Pixel 10a keeps Google’s budget-friendly A-series formula, but this year the upgrades are subtle. The phone starts around $500 and leans into a cleaner design with a flatter back, no camera bump wobble, recycled materials, and new color options like Fog, Obsidian, Berry, and Lavender. It still feels solid in hand, keeps the 6.3-inch 1080p OLED display, and adds smaller bezels, brighter 3,000-nit peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i.
Battery life stays at 5,100 mAh, while charging gets a modest bump to 30W wired and 10W wireless, though there’s still no Pixel Snap magnetic charging. Performance also remains familiar with 8GB of RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and the Tensor G4 chip, so this is more refinement than a major leap. The camera hardware is unchanged too, with a 48MP main camera, 13MP ultrawide, and 13MP selfie camera, but Google adds Pixel 10-style features like Auto Best Take, Camera Coach, Gemini in the photo editor, and satellite SOS.
If you’re comparing mid-range Android phones, looking for a Pixel 10a review, or want a clear breakdown of Google’s A-series phone updates, this guide covers the design, display, battery, performance, cameras, and software in one place. It’s useful for anyone searching for Google Pixel 10a features, Pixel 10a specs, budget Pixel phone details, and Android phone buying advice.

00:00So this is the Google Pixel 10a,
00:01Google's newest budget-friendly A-Series phone,
00:04which is basically their more budget-friendly Pixel.
00:07And I gotta say, I was actually expecting
00:09way more this year from this.
00:11Just like its predecessor,
00:12it's gonna start at around $500, so mid-range territory.
00:16And honestly, there's a lot of tough competitors
00:18in this market too, at that price range.
00:20I'd say the biggest things that really stood out to me
00:22are the design.
00:23Ever since the Pixel 6, I gotta say,
00:26Google has been nailing the looks of their phone.
00:28I mean, they're just beautiful to look at,
00:30and the XA just keeps that going.
00:32This time, they made the back of the phone even flatter
00:34and smoother than ever before by removing the only thing
00:38that was keeping it from being flush,
00:40that small little camera bump on the back on the 9A.
00:43It's completely gone now,
00:45and when you run your finger across it, it's just flat,
00:48and I actually really like that.
00:50Not many phones these days just do that anymore,
00:52where they just have a completely flat back
00:54to make it perfect to use on a table without any wobbles.
00:57Now, realistically speaking, I mean,
00:59most people are gonna throw a case on their phone anyway,
01:02which makes it flat no matter what,
01:04but still, props to Google for getting rid of that wobble
01:07that none of us like without the case.
01:09And the nice part is that they didn't sacrifice anything at all,
01:13including camera quality and battery capacity.
01:16They're the same as last year.
01:17They've also leaned into using more recycled materials,
01:20this time around too, which is also, I mean,
01:23it's nice to see.
01:23The aluminum frame, for example, is 100% recycled,
01:27and the plastic cover on the back is 81% recycled too.
01:31But even then, when I held it, it didn't feel cheap at all.
01:34It actually felt solid to hold,
01:35and I had a nice time using it with one hand.
01:38Plus, the flat sides and flat display were nice too.
01:41Made the phone look really clean.
01:43As for colors, they've got some new ones this year.
01:45They're kind of like darker, richer versions
01:47of last year's shades.
01:48You've got fog, which is this soft whitish green.
01:52Obsidian, which is basically a light black.
01:55Berry, which is a super vibrant red.
01:57And my personal favorite, lavender.
01:59This really nice looking blue.
02:01Definitely not boring colors at all.
02:02And of course, Google's got matching silicone cases
02:05if you want to keep the same vibe going.
02:07From there, you've got a few new updates.
02:09I'll be real with you though.
02:10Most of the phone is pretty much the same as last year's,
02:13but here's what's actually different.
02:15First, the body is slightly smaller, and I mean slightly.
02:19It's also technically 0.1 millimeters thicker,
02:22which is basically nothing.
02:24At the same time though, it's actually a bit lighter too,
02:27like three grams lighter.
02:28So yeah, when holding the phone,
02:30you're not gonna really notice a difference
02:32unless you're analyzing it under a microscope.
02:34It felt really solid when I held it,
02:36and it did feel really similar to the Pixel 9a,
02:39in my opinion.
02:40Plus, for those wondering,
02:41it still keeps the IP68 water and dust resistant,
02:44so no worries there.
02:45And since the body of the phone
02:47is almost identical to its predecessor,
02:50so is the display.
02:51It's still a 6.3 inch 1080p OLED panel,
02:54but this time around,
02:56the bezels are actually a tad smaller this time around,
02:59so you get a lot more screen real estate.
03:02Here it is side by side with the 9a.
03:04It's a super subtle change, but it's there.
03:07The screen also has a nice brightness bump,
03:09up to 3000 nits peak brightness.
03:11That's about 11% brighter than the Pixel 9a.
03:14Plus, they've upgraded the glass
03:16to cornering Gorilla Glass 7i,
03:18instead of cornering Gorilla Glass 3,
03:20so it's a bit more durable now.
03:23Now, before moving on,
03:24even though Pixel cameras are great,
03:26lately, I've been really loving creating and posting content
03:29with smart glasses.
03:30Being hands-free just changes the game,
03:32and out of all the options out there,
03:34TheMentralife, the sponsor of this video,
03:36has recently been my go-to,
03:38because it's got an open source software,
03:40and certain advantages over the competition.
03:42Now, of course, like most glasses,
03:44you can capture videos and photos hands-free,
03:46with a camera lens on it that's 12 megapixels,
03:49but what's really making them stand out,
03:51is that these are the only smart glasses
03:53that let you live stream to literally any platform.
03:56X, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, even OnlyFans.
04:01Yeah, pretty crazy, right?
04:02Most of the glasses don't even stream at all,
04:04or if they do, like the Meta Ray-Bans,
04:07you're stuck with just Instagram and Facebook.
04:09That's it.
04:10I tested TheMentralife on X,
04:12and it worked perfectly.
04:13Just walking around, streaming hands-free,
04:15and the footage was totally stable too.
04:18Oh, and they're also the only smart glasses
04:20with an actual app store.
04:22They run on this open source software called Mentra OS,
04:25and there's a built-in mini app store,
04:27where you can grab all kinds of stuff.
04:29AI note-taking tools,
04:30poker probability apps,
04:32proactive AI assistants, you name it.
04:35And of course, they've got a speaker on it too,
04:37so you can listen to music, take calls,
04:39all that good stuff.
04:40And they're even really light too,
04:42only weighing 43 grams.
04:44So I can wear them all day,
04:45and not even notice that they're there later on.
04:48So if you're a content creator,
04:50a live streamer,
04:51or just someone who wants a solid pair of smart glasses,
04:54I definitely recommend checking out TheMentralife.
04:56I'll drop a link down below,
04:58if you want to grab a pair for yourself.
04:59Anyway, back to the Pixel 10a.
05:01Battery-wise, it's the same as last year.
05:045,100 milliamp hours of capacity, to be exact.
05:07So no upgrade there.
05:09However, charging is a little faster this time around.
05:13For wired, it goes up to 30 watts,
05:15instead of 23 watts.
05:16And then for wireless,
05:18it bumps from 7.3 watts to 10 watts.
05:21So yeah, technically faster,
05:23but not by a huge margin.
05:25Personally, I would have liked to see at least 45 watts,
05:28like what you get on the Pixel 10 Pro XL,
05:31but hey, at least it matched the standard Pixel 10.
05:33What it doesn't match though,
05:35is that the 10a doesn't come with Pixel Snap,
05:37which is basically Qi2 wireless charging with magnets.
05:41So unlike the Pixel 10,
05:43you can't magnetically attach it
05:45to something like a MagSafe stand,
05:47which kind of sucks.
05:49Now performance, I'm not gonna lie,
05:51this is where I was a little disappointed.
05:52They didn't really change anything here.
05:55Same memory, same storage speeds,
05:57and most importantly, the same processor as last year.
06:01So you're still looking at eight gigabytes of RAM,
06:04UFS 3.1 storage speeds,
06:06and the same Tensor G4 chip.
06:08And look, I get it, from a marketing standpoint,
06:11they don't want the 10a performing just as well
06:13as the more expensive Pixel 10,
06:15but man, I really wish it had that Tensor G5.
06:18With that chip, everyday tasks are around 35% faster,
06:22and AI related stuff can be up to 60% faster.
06:25And when I was using the Pixel 10 Pro XL,
06:27I genuinely noticed the difference
06:29compared to the 9 Pro XL,
06:31especially since these phones
06:32lean so heavily into AI features now,
06:36especially within the cameras too.
06:37And on that note, hardware-wise,
06:39the two cameras on the back of the Pixel 10a
06:42have the same setup as before.
06:43A 48 megapixel main lens on the back,
06:46and a 13 megapixel ultra wide.
06:48And then on the front,
06:49it's still got that 13 megapixel camera lens.
06:51No changes there.
06:52But you do get a few new software features
06:54that came with the Pixel 10.
06:56One of them is auto best take,
06:58which automatically makes sure everyone
07:00in the group photo looks their best.
07:02So if your friend blinked,
07:04or they turned their head in the wrong direction,
07:07AI will try to fix it for you automatically.
07:10You also get Camera Coach powered by Gemini,
07:13which gives you tips while you're shooting,
07:15better framing, better angles, posing ideas,
07:18that kind of thing.
07:19And one of my favorite Google Pixel features
07:21is that Gemini is built directly
07:23into the photo editor too.
07:24You can literally just type out what you want changed,
07:27like maybe the color of a shirt,
07:28or you can remove windows in the background,
07:31and it'll just do it.
07:33No need to dig through a bunch of editing tools
07:34just to figure out what everything is called.
07:37And surprisingly, that's pretty much it
07:39for the new software exclusive features
07:41found within the camera this time around.
07:43It's the same as the Pixel 10.
07:45Outside of the camera too,
07:46you also get this new satellite SOS feature,
07:49which also came with the Pixel 10,
07:51which I'm really grateful for.
07:52It basically lets you connect to a satellite
07:54to reach emergency services
07:56if you don't have wifi or a cell signal.
07:59But beyond that,
08:01there aren't any new software features
08:02that Google introduced.
08:04We've seen them all in the regular Pixel 10.
08:07And for those wondering,
08:08yes, you still get all the core Pixel features
08:10from before,
08:11things like call screen,
08:13direct my call,
08:14magic compose,
08:15Pixel weather,
08:16all that good stuff.
08:17And of course,
08:18seven years of OS updates,
08:19which is still a huge win
08:21considering that the phone is selling for 500 bucks.
08:24So yeah, that's pretty much everything
08:26you need to know about the Pixel 10a.
08:27Again, it'll start around 500,
08:29so, and that'll be available on March 5th.
08:31Would you pick one up,
08:33even though the changes are pretty minimal this year?
08:36Let me know what you think in the comments.
08:37And if you want to keep watching,
08:39tap this video to see every Pixel exclusive feature
08:41that you might not even know existed,
08:43or even tap this one if you want to learn about
08:45how to completely stop spam on your Android.
08:48Either way, I appreciate you sticking to the end,
08:50and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
08:52Kapow!
