00:36to know why now? Like clearly this sounds different. Clearly for a while now, some of us and many
00:46quarterbacks, Kurt Warner, et cetera, around the league have been like, no guys, he's really
00:51good. Like he's good. But now I'm hearing mea culpa after mea culpa from the people who
00:59have been detractors. I am hearing an overflow of more NFL voices, quarterbacks, Orlovsky's
01:07doing content. Warner's doing content. Kurt Benkert, who used to be on the Niners for a
01:13second. He's doing content. JTO Sullivan doing content. Everybody is like, yo, Brock Purdy,
01:21Chase Daniel. He's like, he's out of his mind. He's out of his mind. Chase Daniel did six
01:27minutes just on that one throw to Mike Evans last week. They're like six minutes. That
01:32was reckless. He was like, look at this from 18 angles. It's amazing. Right? He's like, you
01:37can't coach this stuff. That was the pump fake. And then he drifted left and he saw that
01:41he had about, um, maybe four inches of opening and he's through it. I think you overdid it.
01:46I think he needed to hit a quarter and he hit a quarter. Right? Like, and I'm glad you said
01:51it that way because it's like the old Western movies where, you know, a guy would, you know,
01:56throw a quarter in the air and you shoot the quarter. And that's where this is. I think
02:02with all the detractors right now, you're like in that old Western movie where you're out
02:08of ammunition. So I like, and you get to that point and all you can do is reach into your
02:12front
02:12pocket and pull out your handkerchief and wave it in the air because you surrender. You have to
02:17surrender 20 for 22, 91% completion that throw to Mike Evans, every other throw other than the
02:25grounding Debo with a drop and an intentional grounding, which was the game was already over.
02:31So that is the kind of thing where if you are a detractor, you're out of bullets in your little
02:36six shooter. So eight at eight, nine, five, seven, nine, five, 70. Why now? And not his first good
02:42game. In fact, you came in on Monday morning and you're like, there was one that was better.
02:48Right. Percentage wise. Yeah. I mean, the guy's been to a Superbowl. The guy's been to two NFC
02:53championship games. The guy, the guy is, he'd been an MVP candidate in December. The guy is this,
03:00the guy is that, the guy is that over here and this over there. He'd like, he's got all right.
03:06Win playoff game, do it at home, do it on the road, do it from behind, do it from ahead.
03:11Do remember to do baby to bop. Like he'd done all of these things and he'd been doing all of

03:17things. And now he's played two football games. And one of them was against a JV squad.
03:24And all of a sudden I can't keep the Brockistan offices staffed. This is too, it is overwhelming.
03:34Get on the bus, Gus. Right. Too many people trying to emigrate into Brockistan. I got job
03:40applications from the ceiling to the floor. I can't, I don't know what to do. I can't answer
03:46all of this correspondence. You're going to need a bigger bandwagon because right now there's a line.
03:51It's kind of like when you, uh, you go to one of these championship parades that we tend to have
03:56a lot of and the parade's over and you try to get on Bart. Good luck because the concourse is
04:01full.
04:02And that's what this is. People are trying to take Bart to Brockistan and you're going to have
04:07to wait a few trains now. You just gave me PTSD from that, uh, that Allegiant stadium in Vegas game
04:12between the Niners and Raiders, which I sure that was Brock's first year when he came in,
04:18this was about six games after he came in against Miami. And I remember what people were saying
04:22then. Do you remember that, that process when Brock got thrown in and everybody was like,
04:27yeah, whatever. It's a third string quarterback. And then he was really good. And they're like,
04:30Oh, hold on a second. Beat Brady. And then he beat Brady and they're like, uh, okay, do it on
04:36the road.
04:36And then he went to Seattle and won a game. And they're like, Hmm. All right. Like do it with
04:40your left
04:40hand. And people were doing all these things. And that Raider game checked another box.
04:45People were like, do it from behind. Like we've never seen you come back. And then the Raiders
04:51had a weird day and scored all over the Niner defense. And Brock came from behind and won the
04:56football game. Anyway, you gave me PTSD though, because leaving Allegiant stadium is a journey.
05:03We could not find an Uber. We could not walk. We could not anything like you could not move.
05:09Um, and, uh, it was just overwhelmed by people. And so, yes, that's what Brockistan feels like right
05:16now. So it was beat Brady 35 to seven. Okay. Win a road game, a tough one. You go to
05:22Seattle and you
05:22win. Then you have Washington at home and you win, you go to Vegas and you come from behind and
05:28you
05:28win in overtime. Then you, you beat Arizona in week 18. So he, he started five games to end the
05:34regular season, went five and Oh, and then it was all right, win a playoff game. And then they won
05:38a
05:39playoff game. They actually won a couple of them. And then you went to Philly and his arm
05:42fell off. But I do think that if you're looking for him to check boxes, there's only one box
05:47he's yet to check. He can't check it in week three. So if you want to still dig your heels
05:52in and say, I live in Missouri, the show me state, well, you're going to have to wait until
05:57February if they even get there. Why now? Because you're out of ammunition. But, but did I
06:04mention, but it's been two games? Like, I guess I could argue if you're out of ammunition
06:10now, you kind of were last year too. No, is your, I mean, I don't know. Coming out of
06:16last year, like, Ooh, you got crushed at Seattle. Schedule Sam. Right. I mean, that would be
06:22my answer. My answer is, um, he pants, the Rams after an entire summer of everybody saying
06:29the Rams were the best thing we've ever seen in the history of football. And then he, he
06:33went all the way across the world. He threw an interception and everyone went, Oh, here
06:38we go. And from that moment after that interception in Australia, he's been the best player in
06:44football and, and beat the, the, the Superbowl favorites by three touchdowns. Uh, so that I
06:53guess the, Oh, and one other point I would like to make, I think it's also because Christian
06:58McCaffrey doesn't look as dominant. Christian McCaffrey does not look like a cheat code
07:03anymore. Still a really, really good player. But I think that for Brock Purdy through the
07:08last couple of years, it was hard for him to get credit when you could just be like,
07:13Christian, Christian, it's a Christian here, go over there. Christian, go over there. Christian,
07:17here's the ball. Christian, you get 32 touches. You couldn't go to George last year. Right. And
07:21you couldn't go to Ricky Pierce all really to convince me. Like, I mean, but I think that
07:25has something to do with it. But if you look at this year, what you've had, Kittle has played
07:29both games. You've got a hall of famer and Mike Evans. McCaffrey is still really good and efficient.
07:35He's just not toting it and catching it all the damn time. And so his weapons right now are better
07:40than what they were last year. But I think that if you're a detractor, you're just, you're worn out.
07:46He's started 47 games and he's 32 and 15. He's about to become the highest rated passer in history
07:54in about three or four more games. He'll have enough attempts. So you're done detractors. It's

08:13Why now does it feel like an avalanche of Purdy is awesome? Um, after two football games,

08:33of points I was going to make as far as the people have run out of ammunition, but also
08:37on the flip side is everything that people say is an elite quarterback, whether it's he has
08:42to play without all the, without weapons. He can, he make other players look good. Can he win
08:47when the defense isn't playing well? He's kind of checked all the boxes. He's checked
08:51every last year was really, I think last year showed a lot of people that, okay, they were
08:55injured, they were hurt and they still made the playoffs. And you can't continue like, again,
09:00like I said, you can't continue to get, just give the credit to Shanahan or Christian McCaffrey.
09:05And I think the Rams game did do a lot this year to like confirm what people were already,
09:10already thought they seen last year. At least for me, I seen last year at the end of the last
09:15season. I was telling my brother, who's a big fan of the show, Brock Purdy is elite.
09:19You can call it what you want to call it, but he's a top seven quarterback. And in my mind,
09:23anybody who's top seven is elite. And he's checked, he's checked every box. Like if you could say,
09:28oh, he's made, he does, he needs big weapons. Well, he made Kendrick Bourne and, and Jawan
09:34Jennings look good. You know what I'm saying? So what are we talking about? Debo Samuels come back
09:38to the Niners and look like a number one receiver immediately. What are we talking about? It's got,
09:43there's got to be a common denominator here other than just Kyle Shanahan. Brock is putting the ball
09:47on the mic. And I think that's done what it needed to do to convince people. Lamar, thanks. Um, yeah,
09:54I like, um, those are all good points. Those are all good points. Um, but it's fascinating to me
10:02that it feels so overwhelming now after, after two football games, because a lot of what even Lamar
10:09just said there, a lot of it was already true. It's never sounded like this before.
10:16It, you know what I mean? And I think through the years it's changed. I don't, I don't think by
10:20the
10:20end of last year, there were a whole lot of people who were like, Brock still sucks. Like, I don't,
10:24I don't think that's been out there, but, but you can feel it right now, right? He is on every
10:31show
10:32as a subject and, and the people who I love what you just said, you are exhausted. If you've been
10:42trying to hold up the other end of this bargain, Brock is the system quarterback and he's short and
10:48he's cute and his seventh rounder, but Kyle, Kyle and the Avengers, if you've been trying to hold that
10:54up, those people are all throwing their tail between their legs and headed to the restroom
11:01in the middle of these conversations right now. It's like y'all just gave up, gave up.
11:08Well, it's a little bit like, I'm going to say the Taylor Swift phenomenon because Taylor Swift was an
11:15artist that I was kind of late to the party on. I don't know if there's something that you were
11:19late
11:19to the party on and 888-957-9570. If there's something that you thought was no good or wouldn't
11:25last and turned out to be good and lasted. And it wasn't that I thought Taylor Swift stunk. It just

11:43I was late to the party, but there are people who are now late to the purdy party and it's
11:48really
11:48undeniable when you look at all the numbers and in his first five years. And by the way,
11:54he's two games into his fifth year. He already has more passer rating games of one 30 or higher
11:59than anyone in history. He just passed Russell Wilson. He's heard he's got 13 games of a passer
12:05rating of one 30 or higher. Russell Wilson had 12 and Brock Purdy has 15 more games to extend that
12:11lead. Grandpa. Daddy is next. Hey, GPD. We love you, man. What's going on?

12:25guys anyway, but like the other car set, he checks all the boxes, but I think it's the maturity thing.
12:34And he's mature now, you know, at first he was just like a little, you know, a little youngster,
12:40you know, still got milk on his lips, you know what I mean? And he wouldn't want to believe in
12:44him.
12:44And now he's putting all these stats up and didn't just look like mature when he did that against the
12:54Rams. It was just like, I've arrived and he's clicking. And that's what it is, man. Everybody's
13:01seeing that. Okay. We can't deny it anymore. And Gibbs, you're right. I was on that train with
13:07Taylor Swift too. I'm like, okay, she's arrived. Brock has arrived, bro. And that's it. And that's

13:51He said something that I want to expand on because we talked before the show about it. And
13:55he right now, Brock Purdy is in the zone. I read a book called flow, which talks about
14:00the actual physical things that happen when your body gets into the flow state or when
14:06you're in the zone. And if you look at Brock against Miami, every throw he made other than
14:12the one to Debo, which was a touch high, they are in stride for the receiver. The one to Mike
14:17Evans is ridiculous. He's in the zone. And if you expand that to the whole offense, they're
14:22all mostly in the zone. George Kittle, the routes he's running, Mike Evans, high pointing
14:27the ball and toe tapping McCaffrey in space. Use check runs the right route, gets open and
14:32scores. I think when you look at this offense, they are also well seasoned. It's early in the
14:37year. So they're in great shape. They're all on the same page. The coach is in his bag
14:42and the quarterback is executing at an elite level. So you look at this offense and they
14:47are in the zone right now. Brock Purdy is in the flow state.
14:50It's a good point. And actually it makes me think of something else that might be in play
14:56here. And again, what we're talking about is why now, why now does everybody go, oh,
15:00yeah, Brock Purdy is great. And the people who have been against him for a while are like
15:06putting in for vacation time. They're like, you know, I better take next week off. This
15:12let's just sit this one out. Like nobody even has an argument anymore. And I was
15:18thinking about this, you know, we're all doing survivor pools around here like so
15:22many people are. And I would bet for most people, if you're in a survivor pool, two
15:29thirds of it has already been clipped two weeks in. What does that tell you? It tells
15:34you that right now around the league, there are very few things we feel like we can
15:41trust. Very few. Like when you look at the whole league, give me teams and players who
15:50you are fully confident. Like I know exactly what I'm going to get when this team shows
15:55up or this player shows up. Josh Allen comes to mind a dog. Yeah. Like I get that. But
16:01but even the bills, but you got giving up a lot of points over there, but like get some
16:06defense out here. Um, but they're good. And you can kind of expect that. Sure. Probably
16:11not going to beat a team 35 to three. Probably not. They don't do that. Probably not. You
16:16know, the Rams all off season, this, that we're smart. Watch this. We know how to travel.
16:22Like, geez, Seattle's very bankable right now. They're bankable on defense. Their quarterbacks
16:27have been out, but yes, they're, they're incredibly bankable, but, um, you know, for, for two seconds,
16:34it was going to be, well, the bears will score when they touch the ball that lasted one game
16:38in their quarterback is hurt. And they scored three points last week. Averaging 31 a game.
16:43Yes, they are. But you know what I mean? Look like, like the Ravens couldn't hold it against
16:48the saints. The Eagles needed an unbelievable comeback to beat Tennessee, even Kansas city.
16:53You're like, Ooh, they look like they're back. And then they'd have been overtime against the
16:58Colts. And I'm going, all right, nice job. You were two and Oh, you won, but that was weird. Why
17:04is Jonathan Taylor just running a rough shot over you? Yep. Brock Purdy and the 49er team are one of
17:10maybe about five or six things I can think of in the league right now that has looked trustworthy
17:16through two games, even the Bengals and Raiders that like great starts, but you're going to have to
17:20just wait and see a little bit longer before we fully buy into their legitimacy. I think that
17:26you're right. As far as the bank ability and Brock Purdy, 80% through two games, which is remarkable.
17:32And now you get an Arizona team that I don't know if you've been looking much at the Cardinals
17:37injuries and their depth chart, but they lost their top corner last game, second round pick. And they
17:43already were without a third round pick. Their corner back depth chart is as exposed as the Niners
17:50D line. Yikes. Marcus 707. Hey, Marcus, thank you for calling. Hey, how's it going guys? What's up?
17:59So about the Shanahan and Purdy matchup, they're a great match. I think Shanahan finally found his guy.
18:07Um, Shanahan's been making normal quarterbacks look better for a long time because I think that
18:15Shanahan, you guys know this, he studied defense before he mastered his offense. So when he found
18:22a guy that, you know, matches up, he says, Hey coach, I can do what you want me to do.
18:27And I can add a
18:28wrinkle into it. Like the pump faking, the scrambling, it's just a plus. And yeah, his maturity
18:36this is why he's matured. He's learned from mistakes. Why is it when he
18:41throws an interception, he elevates after that, except for that one Christmas game where he threw
18:47the three picks against the Ravens, I think. And Carolina last year, they're on the same page.
18:54They're, they're just working together. They understand each other and Purdy's elevating
18:59Shanahan's offense. I think that's my personal take on it. Thank you, Marcus. I get it. I agree with it.
19:05And I, look, I don't disagree the idea that Kyle Shanahan makes quarterbacks better,
19:09but I think it's a little more nuanced than that. Like what does Kyle Shanahan do? He creates a
19:15great offense. He creates a great, he creates great opportunities. Now you still got to go out
19:20there and do it. And I do think every quarterback looks better in a great offense and in a great
19:25system, but not every quarterback looks like this. They don't, they don't all do this.
19:30You know what I mean? Like I know Jimmy Garoppolo went to a Superbowl and another NFC title game
19:35too. But if you want to fit like those, these are not the same toys. No at all. And it
19:40looks
19:40a little bit different when Brock Purdy is running in the fact that Purdy might be elevating Shanahan's
19:45system instead of the other way around. Now we're getting into some lofty talk.
