05:26to hear how i feel about the nxt products so you know what john q this this episode in a

05:32lot of ways

06:07all of you tonight we are talking nxt and here's the thing i'll be the first one to admit i

06:13usually watch

06:14nxt on replay i don't watch it live because i have a very busy schedule those who know me know

06:19i work multiple jobs and it's it's difficult to get to every single wrestling show tonight one of

06:24the exciting things for me is it is the start of the dusty classic the tag team tournament in nxt

06:29i still as i said in my last episode i really would have preferred to see some tna talents in

06:34this

06:34tournament but we'll get into that a little later because that's going to play into something we're

06:37going to talk about but the show opens with los americanos taking on noam dar and romeo marino

06:43and here's the thing going into this match because of the success of el grande americano i would have

06:49expected rio and bravo to win i really would especially when you know that underneath those

06:55masks you're really talking about tyler bait and uh pete dunn two incredibly talented world travelers

07:02who have done it all in wwe in terms of being just solid in-ring workers you would think with

07:07the

07:07popular of el grande that they would also be getting a push instead what shocks me here

07:12first off noam dar is pound for pound one of the best wrestlers in the world that guy is incredible

07:16i love him working with romeo marino because it's clear that his experience and if you don't know

07:22what i'm talking about do a search on youtube for noam dar matches back when he was in chikara and

07:28places like that this guy has been having quality i mean high level matches for 20 years now um the

07:35fact that he gets to showcase his talent with a young talent in this tournament is wonderful the fact

07:39that they had noam dar and romeo marino win this match is even more exciting to me because you're

07:45showcasing new talent now again like i said i would have expected los americanos to win they did not

07:51i'm not mad about that i'm actually excited for the opportunity it's presented to a new team

07:56i was just thoroughly surprised from there we get kaylee armstrong taking sky taking on skylar ray

08:01here's the thing um these young ladies clearly are not at the apex of the women's division yet in

08:08nxt but they are a testament to how strong the women's divisions across all brands are in wwe whether

08:15it's triple a evolve nxt raw smackdown doesn't matter wwe is flush with incredible female talent

08:23the division is as rich and deep as it has ever been before and these young ladies are building a

08:29resume to one day be the ones to take over nxt when all those talents move to the main roster

08:33and i'm sure that leads to a whole lot of main roster people getting cut at some point because

08:37they'll probably won't want to take a pay cut uh but whatever it is what it is now before the

08:41end of

08:41the match we have reina vulkin come out and she slams kaylee armstrong and she hits an f5 or goes

08:48to

08:48hit an f5 on on uh skylar ray who when she hits the move skylar ray's arm drapes over kaylee

08:55armstrong and she picks up the win now to me it's an interesting finish not necessarily the way i

09:00would have booked it but i thought it certainly opens the door to future matches between all three

09:05of these young ladies but there is going to be a problem i have and that's going to come up

09:09in the

09:09next match we have kilani jordan and zarya taking on la carolina and thea hale on paper this is a

09:18dream

09:19match in terms of nxt talent all four of these ladies can go at the highest level all four should

09:25really be main roster stars sooner than later the problem is you can only bring so many people to

09:29the main roster before you run out of room for everybody unless you're going to add another

09:33program or elevate nxt to its own a main roster brand in and of itself i actually much prefer that

09:39um that being said what i did not like i love the match i have no problem with the match

09:45like i said

09:46these ladies can go here's my only problem is with the finish at the finish of the match you have

09:53zarya setting up thea hale for an f5 now here's the thing we just watched a match finish with the

09:58f5

09:59i don't want to see the f5 turn into the new super kick or the new spear where everybody's doing

10:06it the

10:06f5 is a special thing that brock lesnar did so if one person wants to use it i get it

10:13it makes a lot

10:14of sense but when you start having back-to-back matches with people hitting f5s it's going to bring

10:20down the impact of seeing that hole because it's something you see more regularly and i don't want

10:25to have that happen i'd like to keep that move special if you want to give it to one wrestler

10:29in nxt and have them carry on the legacy of you know performing the f5 amen to that i'm okay

10:35with

10:35that but i don't want to see it back-to-back matches this one does not hit the f5 is

10:40countered

10:41into a roll-up and we see la catalina and thea hale win the match defeating kalani jordan and zarya

10:46shocking end but at the same time really compelling it furthers some of the storylines we know there's

10:52been all this bickering between these ladies over the nxt women's championship and this is a perfect

10:57segue to a future match which i'm sure is coming up very very soon in the back we get a

11:03segment of

11:04sean legacy talking to zilla fatu and darian van dukes is not going to be able to be there he

11:09has a

11:09punctured lung um he shows up and he claims that he's good to go but they've already announced a

11:15replacement ek prosper is going to replace him tonight he is obviously very upset about that

11:19decision um you could read it on his face obviously this is going to lead attention later further down

11:24the road at some point but for now this was a great way to keep everybody involved but also put

11:30on a

11:31match that's high quality and further um ek prosper's growth which has been just he's been on a meteoric

11:37rise lately from there cruise montana's in the ring he's putting mason rook and grayson waller on notice

11:45he's coming for the winner of the nxt championship match um and honestly i don't know how to feel

11:52about this because cruise montana's been in the world championship picture since he got to nxt

11:56he's not capitalized on any of those opportunities and i haven't really seen him in any other feud since

12:02now they're kind of teasing that now because we get the music played for dark state deon lennox comes

12:08out and he's talking trash and it goes back and forth for quite a while uh references to cruise

12:13montana's long tenure as a professional wrestler being in tna things like that him defending how hard

12:18he's worked to be in the position that he's in um and eventually it leads to a brawl and these

12:23two

12:23start fighting and obviously this is an exciting thing in my opinion because it moves cruise montana out

12:29of the world championship picture into a new program which i think is very valuable um and i think he

12:34should stay there for a little while let him get some more um get some more sympathy from the crowd

12:40to really want to see him win that championship instead of him walking in the door and immediately

12:44being thrust into the world championship picture i think that was a bad idea to begin with

12:49from there our second match in the dusty classic tag team tournament the creeds taken on harley higgins

12:55and jacks presley and quite frankly with the way they've hyped up the creeds coming in one of two

13:01things was going to happen here either they were just going to demolish their opponents or we were

13:05going to get a shock victory for their opponents and then they were going to you know be pushed down

13:10the card thankfully it was the earlier not the latter the creeds basically dominate harley higgins

13:16and jacks presley all the way through the match they pick up the win they move on in the dusty

13:19classic

13:20they announced the rest of the pairings for the tournament that's a good thing i think it gives

13:24people the opportunity to have some expectations um which is always good from there we get to a big

13:29six-man tag team match or a trios match zilla fatu ek prosper sean legacy um they were accompanied

13:35to the ring by darian van dux when they get out there they're taking on birthright with ariana grace

13:42lots of interplay with all the members in the match stacks is out there uriah connors had i think

13:47uriah connors is severely underrated he is so solid if you don't know this is the son of fit finley

13:53so it's in his blood brother to david finley um and lexus king who is the son of flying brian

14:00pillman

14:01um these three guys they they i love that they're paired up for some reasons but i actually feel

14:08like it kind of holds them back at the same time they've all got a unique seal set and i

14:13don't feel

14:13like they always mesh together tonight they did much better than i've seen previously um at the end

14:19of the match we end up seeing um birthright win the match and what is more exciting to me is

14:26the

14:26face-off with uh zilla fatu and lexus king obviously we're headed for something big there i think that's

14:33a great idea um it'll it'll further yeah i we got to keep zilla out of the world championship picture

14:39it's going to get crowded up there much like smackdown is right now and i don't want to see that

14:43so this gives zilla something to do of substance until it's time for him to ascend to an nxt championship

14:49program the ending segment of the show we end up having grayson waller come out the nxt champion

14:55mason rook comes out they're going to have a conversation and look i was thoroughly entertained

15:01with the uh the callbacks the fact that uh mason rook said he has a theory as to why waller

15:09is back

15:10in nxt obviously a callback to austin theory as former tag team partner that maybe he didn't match

15:16the vision of the main roster which again absolutely hilarious the play on words he just kept going for

15:23grayson waller this is going to be a great match i thought it was nice that waller actually put him

15:28over for the first part of the promo um by the end he obviously turns that around and obviously he's

15:33super confident which he should be um mason rook they referenced several times about john cena has

15:39known him since before he was in wwe john cena is a big fan of mason rooks so um we'll

15:45have to see

15:45how that all plays into the storyline going forward i would love to see john cena appear in the crowd

15:51when these two face off at a major event that would be awesome talk about giving a kid the rub

15:56um and

15:58they they seem to be very high on mason rook and let's be honest the guy can move for a

16:02guy his size

16:03the move sets that he can hit and if you don't know what i'm talking about go onto youtube and

16:08pull

16:09a pursuit pro wrestling where mason rook spent uh several years as a talent there and they do all

16:14these video shorts where it's mason rook and many other talents that they have on their roster um

16:19uh leon slater wrestled for them as well you could look at their videos and see the moves this guy

16:25can

16:25put on there is some fantastic stuff so i'm not surprised wbe's high on him i thought this was a

16:31solid show top to bottom out of five stars i'll give it three and a half stars for an nxt

16:36show um

16:37good stuff further storylines didn't get too convoluted and the most important thing for me is

16:43in comparison with the rest of the main roster we're not crowding the world champion you know

16:47we're not we're not doing that we're keeping that world championship between grace and waller

16:51and mason rook everybody else who has an interest in that championship is tied up in something else

16:56and that's very healthy i think for keeping the matches uh very very grounded um the women's side

17:03of things a little more crowded but you only have four and it's obvious they were building to that

17:08for quite a while now i suspect the best move would be not to do a four-person match but

17:13to do

17:13multiple individual matches but you know wwe they love these multi-person opportunities i'm sure that's

17:18probably where they're headed let's get into the last couple tidbits for this episode because

17:22there's some really interesting things going on one yoda suji iwgp champion new japan pro wrestling

17:30superstar making it very clear he's very frustrated with the lack of balance in the partnership with

17:35aew and that he wants to have more balance going forward more aew stars appearing on new japan pro

17:41wrestling shows to help with the viewership of those shows and a better representation of new japan

17:47pro wrestling stars on aew television where a lot of people feel like they don't get the fair

17:52shake oftentimes on aew shows aew talent ends up winning every match against new japan stars and

17:58that's not healthy for the relationship on top of that aew signing so many new japan talents away

18:04from new japan to exclusive contracts probably doesn't sit well with new japan either and it may

18:09be time much like the aew deal with cmll to start signing dual contracts in both aew and new japan

18:17maybe

18:17a triple contract in all three companies to really allow talent to go to all three and

18:22be active members of all the shows because that's going to be a fair partnership like it's not like

18:28wwe and tna that that started out solid and that's sour we've reported on that in previous episodes

18:34matter of fact this episode nick nemeth nick nemeth was out today talking on busted open about how he

18:40has no concern that there are no tna talent tag teams in the dusty classic unlike me i think there

18:46should

18:46have been one he's busy being tna world champion a world tag team champion he and his brother they're

18:51very busy but i still think it would have been a good idea to have some tna talent there if

18:55you're

18:55actually trying to foster this relationship now nick nemeth was very adamant that the relationship he

19:00feels like has been beneficial to both companies he hopes it continues to do that it's got to be the

19:05right timing the right appeal the right storyline so he said a lot of really positive things here now i

19:10don't know if he has any inside information maybe we're going to see some more crossover in the near

19:14future i hope we do but for right now we're kind of waiting in limbo and the last thing for

19:19tonight

19:19that i that i got to touch on simone johnson if you don't remember who that is that is the

19:25rock's

19:25daughter she was the general manager for uh nxt for quite a while and she ended up leaving the company

19:32over some concerns i i will say there's some political division between her vision of how things

19:38should be and what she felt like wbe represented that being said she was asked in the what do you

19:44want to talk about show with cody rhodes about whether she has closed the book on her wrestling

19:49career and she said she hopes not she had been wrestling she ended up taking some injuries she was

19:54not feeling well stopped wrestling got into the gm role and really would like to give that another go

20:00and i think that's a great thing i really do i don't think she ever really got the opportunity to

20:05really hone her skills long enough before they rushed her right to television which was a bad idea

20:10probably soured her a little bit on it now she's healthy she's happy and i think at some point the

20:18door probably is always going to be open to anybody in in the entire samoan dynasty to come back i

20:24hope

20:24she gives another go when she's ready to do that perhaps it's after current administration in the

20:29united states leaves office because it sounds like that's one of her big concerns is the friendship

20:33between the the administration and wwe but i don't know we'll have to wait and see either way

20:38i hope she gets another opportunity to go give it another go it'd be great to see the rock's daughter

20:43um actually turn into a solid performer i don't know if she has that skill set i hope she does

20:48i want

20:49i want everybody to have a great skill set in professional wrestling but sadly that's not always
