00:11I mean, the defensive line,
00:12they seem to have a hard time tackling HN early in that game,
00:17but if you look at the second half and the second half adjustments,
00:21the adjustments were great.
00:23So, again, if you're going to poke holes,
00:25you're talking about microscopic holes.
00:28You're not going to poke a gigantic hole.
00:30You're not using a three-hole puncher on this team.
00:33That is about as thorough and clinical of a first two games start
00:38that I can even remember from any team.
00:40This is the best quarterbacking that I have seen
00:44from a San Francisco 49er quarterback since Steve Young,
00:48and I say that with unbridled, unbridled excitement and confidence.
00:56To me, there is a feeling when you watch a football game on TV.
01:01This isn't the All-22.
01:03This isn't you've got tickets to the game.
01:05But when you watch a game on TV and you happen to be in an era
01:10where your football team, at least on offense, is really, really good,
01:14there's a feeling when they drop back,
01:16and you can only see the quarterback in the line.
01:19Man, you can't see what's going on down the field.
01:21And they release the ball.
01:23And I remember, and this is, you know, Grandy, Pasta, you guys don't know this.
01:27As a child of the 80s, this is what 49er football always felt like.
01:33I mean, I was in college before it didn't feel like this.
01:37The Niner quarterback would drop back, and he would release the ball,
01:41and your thought was, that's complete.
01:44I have next to no fear about where this ball is going to end up.
01:49And I've learned through the years that that's not what the fan experience is like
01:54for most teams and most quarterbacks.
01:56And we've arrived back at that.
01:59That's what it used to feel like when Montana played.
02:01That's what it felt like when Steve Young played.
02:04And that's what it feels like right now.
02:06And before you get freaked out and tell me that I'm now putting him on those same planes,
02:11no, he's not a Hall of Fame player yet.
02:13But this is the best quarterbacking we have seen with the 49ers in 30 years
02:19and since the Hall of Famers.
02:21And I say that with zero hesitation whatsoever.
02:25And a lot of it is the players around him and the system,
02:29but an equal amount, if not more, is Brock Purdy himself.
02:32And you can look at yesterday's so many different plays,
02:35and a couple of them I'm thinking about was he rolls left,
02:38and he goes with the pump fake.
02:40The Mike Evans play.
02:41The D lineman jumps up, and he buys more time, and then he rolls back to the right,
02:44he throws it up, and Evans makes an unbelievable catch,
02:47which I can't even believe he was able to toe tap that thing on third down.
02:51But great time buyer by Brock.
02:54Great throw to where Evans could go up and get it, 6'4",
02:57and he goes up and gets it, and it's clinical, and it's perfect.
03:01And he goes 20 for 22 with a drop, and it was not an easy drop, but it's a drop.
03:06It's a drop.
03:07He should have caught it.
03:08And then the other one's the intentional grounding where he finally was pressured,
03:12and he finally was hit, but you go 20 for 22.
03:16It's hard to look at that and say anything other than, like, near perfection.
03:20Can we break down that Mike Evans play, and it went out of bounds at the one-yard line?
03:25If memory serves, that was one of McCaffrey's touchdowns.
03:28He jumped right over the top, I think, on the next play.
03:32Oh, so many touchdowns, they run together, hard to figure them out.
03:35But anyway, I think there's so many pieces to that play you just described.
03:40A, there's the pump fake, which was brilliant.
03:44Took a linebacker out of the play to clear a lane.
03:47And then, as you pointed out, the execution of the throw and the brilliance of the catch.
03:51But can I add in one more factor?
03:55The stones to even throw it.
03:58When you see that highlight, how we've all seen it now from behind the play,
04:04you're looking at Brock maneuver the linebacker with the pump fake,
04:08and then as he moves left, I'm looking at that play, and I'm like,
04:11I don't see anyone open.
04:13But he does, and he throws a ball that misses the fingertips of the defender
04:17by mere centimeters, but ends up in a spot over on the sideline
04:22where Mike Elvins still has a chance to make a play,
04:25and as a future Hall of Fame receiver, he does it.
04:28And that's the play, because Kyle Shanahan was in his bag again yesterday.
04:33He was brilliant moving young Dolphins defenders around.
04:37They were on skates the entire time.
04:39But when you watch that play that you just brought up,
04:42that's when you go, all right, that's not play calling.
04:46That's just brilliant, gutsy quarterbacking.
04:52That's brilliant, under-control, execution, quarterbacking.
04:58And that's what the 49ers are getting right now.
05:00And I know we'll have to do the if-healthy thing all year,
05:04and I know there were more guys who dropped yesterday.
05:08But I'll say the same thing.
05:10Coming out of Week 2, that I said, coming out of Week 1.
05:14If you are looking for the most balanced team in football right now,
05:20this is it.
05:21They play here in the Bay Area.
05:23This is the best on both sides of the ball we've seen,
05:26and I would say it looks to be, I don't know,
05:30certainly as dangerous as any other.
05:32I don't want to sound like Troy Aikman,
05:34but it's as dangerous on the offense as there is in football.
05:37Well, yeah, they're as good as anyone right now.
05:41They're probably better in terms of the balance that teams are offering.
05:47Right, and the balance, I think,
05:48comes from everything that Shanahan always strives for,
05:51as all coaches do, which is complementary football.
05:53And so even though Miami possessed it for the majority of the first half,
05:57they had to settle for a missed field goal
06:00and then a couple of made field goals.
06:02And the defense was kind of that bend but don't break early on in the game.
06:06And yet the few times, the two times, rather,
06:08that the Niners got the ball on offense,
06:10they scored a touchdown and another touchdown.
06:12And then they get the ball to start the third,
06:14which is what Shanahan loves.
06:16And you go out there and you score again,
06:18and it's 21-6, and it basically was night-night at that moment
06:22because you could see that Miami was not going to have much success
06:26in stopping the Niners.
06:27And the Niner defense was giving up yards and time of possession,
06:31but who cares?
06:32Big whoop.
06:33You kept them out of the end zone.
06:34You made the plays you needed to on defense,
06:36and you dominated that game.
06:38Let's go right to the phones.
06:40Look, this is as good of a start as anybody could have imagined
06:46to the 49er season.
06:48So where does your imagination go now?
06:52Sure, they beat a young Dolphins team.
06:54They were expected to win by a lot.
06:55They won by a lot.
06:57Good teams win.
06:58Great teams cover.
06:59We can do all of that if you want.
07:01But the Niners right now, the whole collective picture of the season,
07:05they're throwing a perfect game.
07:06We're only two weeks in, but you look at what's happening around the league.
07:10We've only got eight unbeaten teams left, or eight 2-0 teams, I should say.
07:15The Giants are unbeaten.
07:17We'll see what happens here in a matter of hours.
07:19I'm super excited about this one.
07:22But we got people splitting carries in the backfield.
07:25You got a true boundary X receiver.
07:27You have a quarterback who is absolutely dialed and a head coach who is,
07:34for the second year in a row, reestablishing himself as the standard,
07:38the standard in the NFL.

10:24So, help is on the way, and the injuries have not been back-breaking.
10:30There's going to be more, but when I look around the league, it's easy to me.
10:35No football team has had a better start to the season than San Francisco 49ers.
10:39Yeah, and they've had their key guys, knock on wood, stay healthy so far,
10:43and we could talk about the Bears being without Caleb Williams for a game or more,
10:48and who knows how long, but, you know, Jaden Daniels,
10:51he might miss a significant amount of time with his injury,
10:54and the Eagles lost Saquon Barkley early in the game yesterday.
10:57He came back, but he wasn't as effective,
11:00and so right now you've got McCaffrey who's on a, not a pitch count,
11:04but on a touch count, and they've been conservative there,
11:07and Mike Evans similarly, and George Kittle hasn't had to play that much.

11:14and Fred Warner with another punch out yesterday.
