00:49find a sweet spot here in about two sessions where it's going to be a little slick at first
00:54and then the moisture is going to get mixed in it's going to be traction for days but i think
00:59them kind of redoing these sand berms i think it's going to make it just a little bit faster
01:05nick romano right there we touched on it earlier but what a season he's had really resurrected his
01:10career chase you think about romano coming into the year without a ride then mitch payton
01:15calls him up and gives him a fill-in opportunity and really changed the trajectory of his career
01:19now potentially having a ride for next year got a podium during the summer in motocross the 141
01:25that's been a great 2026 here i was uh very impressed uh with his podium was at thunder valley
01:32that was uh my first race i got to watch on the couch that was a fresh one but he
01:36uh he rode really
01:37well and to be honest there's a point where i thought he was going to win the overall that day
01:40so uh i mean you can't ever say he's lacked talent uh i think maybe uh a bit of it's
01:46a bit
01:46situation with injuries and stuff like that and um you know every every guy has their has their own
01:53story and it'd be cool to see him come back and get back to the top i think he's more
01:57than capable of
01:58doing that he's obviously has great talent he was a great amateur uh good starter as well so i think

02:03a track like tonight he could be very very good so um yeah stoked for him i think for a
02:09young rider when
02:10you get signed out of amateurs to monster energy star racing yamaha because that that really has
02:15been the dominant team in the 250 class i think it's a bit of a gamble because as a young
02:20guy if
02:20you don't if you don't sort it out and you don't show flashes of brilliance if you're not able to
02:26stay healthy i think it kind of devalues you to other teams because teams will say well if you can't
02:31do it on that bike you're probably not going to be able to do it on ours right so i
02:35think it's just
02:35been cool seeing romano get another opportunity to prove that he has the talent to be up here
02:41because he obviously does yeah and i think for a guy like nick just knowing his personality i i think
02:46he's gonna suit a team like pro circuit not saying there's one's better than the other obviously has
02:52had the the championships and they have a great bike and whatnot but the personality you have to be
02:59able to suit that team and i think for nick i think pc is a better home for his personality

03:05and uh maybe not so serious i know mitch you wrote for mitch he's very serious he's a very
03:09serious guy but he's also fun too so he is yeah um i think yeah like i said i think

03:20get back to where he belongs keep being fastest in qualifying get some good starts run up front that

03:31brown he was fastest in qualifier number one earlier here with the wild card racers of the 52.0 we

03:38going to take six out of the wild card race six guys out of this group are going to transfer

03:43races we're going to have it live right here on race day live pierce brown on top 53.0 so

03:49off of earlier today and look they had a great track earlier there you see him sliding out just a

03:54bit looks like that hard base is coming alive now ac yeah they put a little bit of water on
03:58it and
03:58it's just going to take a couple sessions for these guys too especially in those 90 degree corners
04:03right here you jump right there you have that little bump that upsets the kind of the front of
04:07the bike there so you're just not able to carry the same amount of speed around the racetrack right now
04:12but luckily for pierce brown was able to get a great time in the first session so right now for
04:18him it's
04:18all about just trying to put a few laps together so he's comfortable for moto one chase we were talking
04:24earlier about qualifying time versus race time and i know you i was on race day live one of my
04:29first
04:29years and it was like clockwork you would just go to the top so talk about qualifying and the
04:35importance of it has it changed from your rookie year in a 450 to now like is it different do
04:40you
04:41want to qualify fast obviously you do but is it that important i mean do i think it's important for
04:47like the the strategy and like gate pick and whatnot no but i do think it is important especially when
04:54you're when you're in a grudge match with another rider let's say you're fighting for a championship
04:57it is a it is important because it is something that uh people think about right yeah and people
05:04think about i think the momentum thing yes it does make a difference but it's also like you want to
05:08be
05:09the best guy in every session especially when you're fighting somebody for a championship so
05:13i again i like to be fastest but uh if it's not there it's not there and uh it hasn't
05:20been there
05:20much uh this year but um yeah at one point in 2023 i think it was like if i wasn't
05:26fastest people were
05:27asking me what was wrong so um no i do think there is there's a place that is important but
05:32i don't think
05:33like these races and especially a track like this i think you can see a guy that doesn't qualify very
05:38good that is a great starter come out and do really good tonight so again it just depends on the
05:42rider i think okay dinner always tastes a little better does between qualifying and race adam when
05:48you qualify fastest oh there's absolutely no doubt about it and i think it's all about it's all about
05:53how you go fast right if you can do two times get on top of the board and have a
05:58backup time that's
05:59repeatable you feel like you were being efficient kind of in the racing line you can take a lot of
06:04confidence from that but chase i'll ask you this because i've had times where i've been p1 top of the
06:09board i've been a little out of control making some mistakes not not very repeatable at all
06:15laughing at him i know laughing i know i know i'm used to it but is it isn't that true
06:20it's like it's
06:20how you go fast i've been at the top of the board and not taking much confidence at all because
06:25of the
06:25way that i went fast yeah for me how how i go about it is if my legs are filled
06:32with lactic acid after i
06:33get done with a lab that means i'm putting in too much effort for to go fastest that means i'm
06:37using i'm
06:38using a lot of energy to go fast for one lap and i and that's a weird thing to say
06:43but i can feel in
06:44my body if i if i tried too much for that lap and i think for you was it indianapolis

06:58because that was i don't maybe one of the best performances i've ever seen three front flips in
