00:00It's going to be a ton of fun.
00:02I believe this first session out, look, it's all timed.
00:06This is qualifying for their gate pick for that wildcard race.
00:09And this track is going to start out really fast.
00:11It is.
00:12And you've got to bring your A game on Saturday from the second,
00:15from the first lap of practice.
00:17All these guys had two free practice sessions yesterday.
00:20So it's just going to allow them to up the pace even more.
00:24They've learned the track.
00:25They know what they're going to get.
00:26Now it's about going out there and executing.
00:28250 unseeded, qualifier number one.
00:31There you caught a glimpse of that number 61 on that Club MX Yamaha.
00:34Now we talk about Cameron McAdoo having a good day from the wildcard race.
00:38One of the favorites that we thought that could maybe even win or get on the podium
00:41was Max Anstey.
00:43One Anaheim won earlier this season,
00:45but unfortunately had a crash in the mud in the wildcard race.
00:48Didn't even make the motos.
00:49And there's so much talent in these wildcard races.
00:52One bad start, one crash,
00:54especially with conditions like we had last weekend.
00:56And next thing you know, you're watching the race from the stands.
00:59So this might be a little bit of a revenge performance for Max Anstey.
01:03We know he's good enough to be on the podium.
01:05And that's the section right there where we're talking about guys are going on to the first table off
01:09and then table over two.
01:11And is that a quad or is that a triple?
01:12What do we call on that?
01:14I think it's a quad.
01:15I think it deserves a quad.
01:16Table over two.
01:20You catch a lot of air over there.
01:21I can tell you that.
01:22A couple different lines.
01:23A lot of guys going on off that first table,
01:26then doing the quad or going over the first table,
01:29on off, staying lower.
01:30So we'll see what these guys figure out in these practice sessions.
01:35Even though this is our first qualifying session,
01:37each of these groups did have two free practices yesterday.
01:40So that's different than usual during our normal supercross format or motocross format.
01:46Really fun to watch these guys go learn the track yesterday.
01:48Now the track is a little bit different here today,
01:50but I love these first laps of qualifying.
01:52These guys are going for it.
01:53And during the regular season,
01:55whether it's pro motocross or supercross,
01:57you're always doing everything on Saturday,
01:59free practice, qualifying.
02:01As you see Cameron McAdoo busting out that quad.
02:04But what I love about having the free practice on Friday for the playoffs,
02:08it just allows the guys in the free practice to get their kind of focus on their bike,
02:12focus on getting the track dialed.
02:13And so you really get the best from everyone in these two qualifiers today.
02:17If you're Max Anstey and that Club MX Yamaha on the number 61,
02:21what do you do in between a race like you had last week,
02:23your debut for the team,
02:25now you go into this week.
02:27Do you just reset completely?
02:28I'm going to go Ted Lasso on you, Justin.
02:31You got to be like a goldfish and just forget about it.
02:34I mean, it was muddy conditions.
02:35It was difficult for everyone in both classes.
02:37We saw a lot of championship level guys have really bad days.
02:42And that's what you got to chalk it up to.
02:44Just a bad day.
02:45It didn't go his way.
02:46But we know Max Anstey,
02:48you think back to January,
02:49he was one of the best guys.
02:51One Anaheim,
02:51one in dominant fashion.
02:53That's still in there.
02:54He hasn't forgotten how to ride.
02:56Now it's just about finding the confidence and momentum again.
02:58One of the best stories of the entire season this year,
03:022026,
03:03especially through the regular season in Supercross and Motocross,
03:06was this guy, Nick Romano.
03:07He gets an opportunity with the team that you won a championship for,
03:10Mitch Payton and that Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team.
03:13He gets the call for a fill-in.
03:15He's taken advantage of it.
03:16He gets on the podium earlier this year in Motocross.
03:19Nick Romano,
03:20it's kind of a great season.
03:21And it may be a career-changing season here in 2026.
03:24It really is.
03:24He had no ride.
03:25He was on the couch at the first part of the year.
03:28Gets the call from Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
03:30And he had a great amateur career.
03:32Was signed up with the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha program.
03:36Didn't work out.
03:36Struggled with health.
03:38But to see him take full advantage of this opportunity
03:41and prove that he belongs,
03:43there's no doubt.
03:44Had he not got this opportunity this year,
03:46he could have been out of the sport,
03:48working a 9-5.
03:49And I think Nick Romano, with his starts,
03:51if he can stay consistent with his starts,
03:53he can make some noise in the playoffs.
03:55A little bit different rhythm lane right there.
03:56He went over the table, then over the table again.
03:59A lot of different options through that section.
04:01How about this guy?
04:01The 89 and Devin Simonson.
04:03Unfortunately, didn't make the motos a week ago either.
04:06But talk about a career year for Nick Romano.
04:09Devin Simonson, he's in that same category.
04:11And you think back to Supercross,
04:12one of the stories of the season,
04:14Devin Simonson went from pretty much being an unknown
04:18two or three years ago
04:19to being a top five guy with podium speed,
04:23podium potential.
04:24And he was fast last weekend,
04:26but things didn't go his way.
04:28Let's see what he can do on a dry racetrack.
04:30He's going for a lap right here.
04:33Love the drone shot.
04:34Big double across the start.
04:36And this is where we were a little nervous yesterday.
04:38This double right here,
04:39I'm telling you folks on TV does not look that big,
04:41but that double right there is big.
04:45It was no joke for us yesterday.
04:47There was a lot of water on the track, Justin,
04:49and I think I rolled it probably 10 times.
04:52You see Simonson able to get that triple out
04:54into the sand right there.
04:56You and I, it was double single every time.
04:58Double single.
04:59No question about it.
05:00Back across the start right here.
05:01Split lane, so you can go inside through the sand
05:03or outside, carry your momentum,
05:05which is the long way around the track.
05:07The inside has some rollers,
05:08but let's see what Simonson throws down right here.
05:10Pierce Brown, the 52.8.
05:13He's on top right now.
05:14Simonson goes P2, moved to 53.1.
05:17That's pretty solid.
05:18See a lap here from Cameron McAdoo.
05:21Got a very unique style, Cameron.
05:24Kind of keeps his butt a little bit further back
05:27on the seat in the turns.
05:28You see him carrying a lot of speed.
05:30I think this outside is going to be the ticket all day long.
05:33Just you're able to carry your momentum.
05:36Cameron moves up to P4 there with a 53.7.
05:40Good spot for Cameron.
05:41This is not normally, this isn't his deal.
05:43He's not really a qualifying guy.
05:45But when you get to the last five minutes
05:47of those motos later today, he's going to be a factor.
05:50Well, McAdoo's season best during the regular season
05:53in qualifying was third at Glendale.
05:55But it's interesting.
05:56The more mature you become and the older you become,
05:59kind of the less you worry about qualifying,
06:01the less you worry about speed.
06:02I mean, you were a guy that you're 450 rookie year.
06:06I mean, you could have your eyes closed
06:08and you'd qualify fastest.
06:09So it just depends on kind of where
06:10you're at in your career.
06:11But talk about that speed through qualifying
06:13and then how that gives you the confidence
06:15throughout the night, throughout the day
06:16and into the night.
06:17It really, yeah, it depends on your confidence level.
06:20If you're not quite sure of yourself
06:22and you go out there and qualify 10th or 11th,
06:25sometimes that can be hard to overcome mentally
06:27going into the night show.
06:29But you think of someone like a Cooper Webb,
06:31like a Ken Roxson that can go out there,
06:32qualify 12th and then go win the race,
06:37that's just because they know who they are.
06:39They're veterans.
06:39They've been here before.
06:40They know when the lights are on in the motos
06:43that they can get it done.
06:44And so I think everyone just has a little bit different
06:47of an approach for qualifying.
06:48Well, this guy knows how to get it done.
06:50He was fast qualifier earlier this year at Arlington.
06:53That Monster Energy Yamaha star racing machine
06:56on, off, table over two.
06:58That's the line right there.
06:59That's the fast way.
07:00And Pierce Brown, I'm excited to see what he can do
07:02these next couple of weekends.
07:04If you remember, he got his first win,
07:05first professional win at Vegas SMX just last year,
07:10just a couple of years ago.
07:11So we know he's got pace.
07:13He's struggled with health lately,
07:14but I love this team for him.
07:16I love that bike.
07:18Star Yamaha 250.
07:19We know how fast that motorcycle is.
07:21And Pierce Brown, he's always had the reputation
07:23of the guy that could go as fast as anyone.
07:26And now for him, it's just about kind of building those blocks,
07:30getting some good results so we can have some confidence
07:32and momentum going into 2027.
07:35So far here in wild card riders, qualifier number one.
07:39When you think about the track,
07:40and when you talk about Supercross regular season,
07:43there's oftentimes a whoop section that's going to separate riders.
07:46Well, here, it's all about the tiny little details,
07:49not making mistakes as Pierce Brown sets up for a fast one.
07:52Yeah, I echo what you said, JB.
07:54There's no whoop section.
07:55It's not as technical as Supercross or even motocross at times
08:00with all the ruts and the bumps.
08:01So it's about not making mistakes.
08:03And the intensity that you have to apply on this racetrack,
08:07if you want to be on the podium,
08:08if you want to try to win the race,
08:11it is not for the faint of heart.
08:13You've got to be, you've got to come so fast into these corners,
08:17carry so much momentum,
08:18and those little mistakes can be the deciding factor,
08:21whether you have a good night or a bad one.
08:23Pierce Brown still on top, 52.1.
08:25Devin Simons in second, 53.1.
08:27And you mentioned Avery Long this morning,
08:29even when we were talking about the track
08:31and how good he looked yesterday.
08:32Well, he's third right now.
08:33And he's a rider.
08:34You never really know what you're going to get with Avery Long.
08:37Sometimes you see him and he looks like he could be a guy
08:39that's in the top five or potentially on the podium,
08:42then other times he's not in the picture.
08:44But whatever it is so far, 53.2 for him,
08:47he's agreeing with this track.
08:49And I do think he has a high ceiling
08:51that he hasn't quite shown yet in his career.
08:54Let's see if we can follow Pierce Brown right here for a full lap.
08:56Let's see if he can better his best time, 52.1 right now.
09:00Oh, little mistake.
09:01That's the details right there.
09:02If you make that type of mistake, that's half a second.
09:04It is.
09:04And you see just not a lot of traction up high in that bowl corner.
09:08Had the bike leaned over, got on the gas a little too hard,
09:11back in, stepped out, and that's all she wrote.
09:14Max Anstey goes up into second.
09:16There's that triple out of the turn.
09:17That is pretty big for a 250.
09:20Once you get some ruts in that turn, it's going to be very difficult,
09:23especially later on when we go racing late in those races.
09:2520 minutes plus a lap, both 250 and 450.
09:30Double points on the line here today, so a lot at stake.
09:32And I love this lap so far for Pierce Brown.
09:35Besides that little mistake,
09:36I love how much momentum he carries into his turns.
09:39Doesn't break super hard to upset the balance of the bike.
09:43Probably helps.
09:44There's some good traction in those bowl corners right now,
09:46but I love what I'm seeing from the 163 so far.
09:49I love that he keeps going lap after lap.
09:51He makes a mistake, and he finishes the lap.
09:53A lot of times you'll see guys out here in qualifying,
09:55if they make a little mistake, then they'll roll.
09:57Well, you see the countdown clock.
09:58We've only got 20 seconds left to go in this.
10:01You waste a lot of time when you're just rolling around.
10:03And if you look at the board there, Pierce Brown almost a second,
10:06almost a full second on second.
10:08Max Anstey.
10:09So that allows him right now to be a little relaxed.
10:12He's going out there, putting a few laps together
10:14to try to get into a flow like you would in a race.
10:17So that's the benefit of throwing down a good time early.
10:21Pierce Brown first.
10:23Devin Simons in second.
10:24Max Anstey third.
10:25They see Anstey on the bottom right-hand side of your screen
10:27getting that rhythm lane.
10:28Wheel tap in the sand outside right there.
10:31See if he can put together this second half of the lap
10:34and better his 53.0.
10:35Look at that corner speed from the 61 on Max Anstey.
10:39You see right now that it looks like the outside
10:41in pretty much every option lane is the ticket.
10:45Let's see what he does here.
10:46Last lap.
10:47Nailed that last turn right there.
10:49Anstey goes to second with a 52.5.
10:52So the only guys in the 52 is Pierce Brown and Max Anstey.
10:59Cameron Macudu on that Monster Energy Pro Circuit.
11:02Kawasaki rolling off right there.
11:03He's 9, 53.7.
11:05He's not too worried about that.
11:06But look at Parker Ross going 52.1, only one-tenth off the lead.
11:11Wow.
11:11What a time from the 40 of Parker Ross.
11:14This is a rider we've...
