00:06Welcome to Global Racing. Thanks for tuning in. If you're enjoying the action, hit that subscribe button and turn on
00:13notifications so you don't miss the next heat. Let's get into it.
00:16They also don't even have to deal with changing gears down the start straight. So there is so many stories
00:21in this SX2 class.
00:22Oh, yeah. If they get off that pad, they're going to be screaming down the start straightaway. So this is
00:27my favorite part of any show we ever do anywhere in the world. It's the first glimpse of the track.
00:33Now, we've had a chance to watch, but for the viewers, this is your first shot at it. And the
00:37first thing I want to point out is the soil. Our track crew had a tough one. When the dirt
00:41came in, it was super, super sandy. And they're like, whoa, I don't know about this.
00:45So they had to get the dirt out, get new dirt in, mix it in, make all these changes and
00:50adaptions happen. And we got a really good track with really good dirt.
00:54Yeah. And these guys were working on this track right before the first practice yesterday. So to see the shape
01:00that they've got this track in right now, I think that we are going to have an awesome track for
01:04racing.
01:04Now, one of the staples of World Supercross, this section right here, massive whoops. They are not scared to build
01:11Volkswagen-sized whoops as we see Max Ancy get through them as clean as he normally does.
01:16And then you're also going to see this next section, a huge Buddha of a finish line, kind of becoming
01:22a staple here in World Supercross.
01:23It's funny you say that, because those are the two big standouts, a massive finish line jump and massive whoops.
01:29And I think back to Vancouver, Canada last year, biggest finish line of the year, biggest whoops of the year.
01:34But this year, we show up, and it's the exact same thing. You come out of that berm, a big
01:39old set of whoops ripping right through.
01:40Let's go to Chris and Beat with more on that whoops section.
01:46Yeah, Daniel, when I was speaking with Jason Anderson, trackside just a moment ago, Jason, you were there too.
01:51I said, geez, these whoops look massive. And he said, yes, but they are built well. They are safe.
01:56We're just going to take it slow the first couple of laps.
01:59And, Chase, that's a good point, because big seems scary. You would think that's bad, but it depends on the
02:04build.
02:04They're nice and round on the top, so you can build a little momentum, and the bottoms aren't too beat.
02:09So, hey, when you hear big whoops, your first instinct is, ah, no, I don't know. That seems scary.
02:13But not when they're built like this. It's a big, round set of whoops.
02:17And they have that nice little lead-in. You're coming out of a rhythm section.
02:21So, if you're going to three out of that rhythm section, you're going to have so much momentum through that
02:25next right-hander,
02:26and you can carry that all the way through that section.
02:29One guy that is not scared of big whoops is Cameron McAdoo. He's on screen now.
02:33He's not scared of anything. Let's be clear. It doesn't matter. If he's on his bike, he is going for
02:38it.
02:39And that's what I love about World Supercross. We're getting a chance to see Cameron here for the first time.
02:43And, again, this is summer Supercross. This is outside of the ordinary.
02:46And for Cameron, he gets on the bike a few weeks back. Again, Mitch Payton, thanks for letting this guy
02:51show up on his best equipment
02:53so he can get a good start in this championship.
02:55And I'm excited, Chase, because when the lights come on, this guy shows up.
02:59It doesn't matter if he's coming off an injury, whatever. He's just a big lights kind of guy.
03:05And much like Devin Simonson, he has been at the absolute bottom of the pile in this sport,
03:12and he has grafted and fought his way to the top.
03:15He is now one of the elite guys in this championship.
03:18He has no quit in him, and that's one of the things I love, I love about Cameron McAdoo.
03:24This is Brian Suh riding for the Stark team. He is new to the team this year.
03:27Michael Hicks is back for his second year, but this man is new, Kristen.
03:31Daniel, I am not a mathematician, but at least three tenths quicker than Max Anstey.
03:36To come from obscurity like Suh has, to be at the top of the leaderboard at this point in qualifying
03:42with less than five minutes remaining, I mean, that is a huge add for this team.
03:46And to be honest, he was a late add for the Stark Future team.
03:49They added him later in the season.
03:50I spoke with Sebastian Tortelli about that add. He seems wildly confident, and I can see why.
03:55Yeah, and he's not done. I love it.
03:57When a rider sometimes, Jace, is the fastest in qualifying, and they settle, they're like,
04:01yeah, that's okay. I don't like that.
04:03We just saw Suh. He's going after another one. He wants some more, and so does this man right here.
04:07You're defending champ, sitting second right now in times, looking for a little more speed,
04:11closing out a hot lap.
04:12And I just love that even if you do go fastest in this session,
04:16that does not mean that you are going to be the fastest going into the night show
04:20because you then have to back it up under the lights and under the pressure in Super Bowl.
04:24But if anyone can do it under pressure, it's that guy right there.
04:27Max Ancy showed last year that when the pressure mounted, he was a gamer.
04:31He was clutch. That's why he is the champion.
04:34You see Devin Simonson sitting in third, Michael Hicks sitting in fourth.
04:37Two Starks in the top four.
04:38And again, just to go over this, clarify for everybody,
04:41there is a rule and a cap to the amount of power that they are allowed to put out.
04:45After every single session, they are checked to make sure they don't go over.
04:48But in this elevation, Jace, the game has completely changed
04:51because the cap comes down for everybody else, but not for them.
04:56Yeah, the Stark team essentially has free horsepower this weekend.
05:00They are going to be on the same power count the whole way through this championship.
05:03But given that this round is at 3,500 feet, that's going to bring the competition down.
05:09So look, the Starks are going to be on tonight.
05:12The whoops has always been the big question for those electric motorcycles.
05:15All of these other teams have had 50 years' worth of suspension knowledge
05:20with the motor and rotating parts that are inside the engine.
05:24The Stark guys have only had a couple of years to figure out Supercross,
05:26and I'm excited to watch tonight.
05:28Hey, so far, I love the team side of World Supercross.
05:32You've got the Starks 1 and 4.
05:33You've got Rick Ware racing 2 and 3 with Anstey and Simonson.
05:36You've got McAdoo and Connelly 5 and 6.
05:39So between the quadlock team, Rick Ware and Stark,
05:42SX2 is sorting itself out a little early here in this championship.
05:45And make no mistake, with only four guys on each team across these two divisions,
05:51every single point that these guys will earn matters towards that championship.
05:56There's really no rounds off.
05:57There's no kind of ways that a bad round doesn't count.
06:01These guys are playing for keeps, and that quadlock Honda team,
06:04they've never lost this championship.
06:05Do you think Uribe wants to keep that title?
06:07He absolutely does, but he's got a challenge this year.
06:10Joey Savace and Shane McElrath were his two number ones.
06:13They're not back this year.
06:14You just saw Brody Connelly.
06:16He is new to World Supercross this year, has raced a round before,
06:19but never part of the whole championship, and been pretty fresh with Supercross.
06:22But he's got this guy, again, riding for Pro Circuit Kawasaki at the opening round
06:26as far as his equipment goes, but part of the quadlock team.
06:29And again, shout-out to Mitch Payton for allowing Cameron to get a head start
06:32on the next chapter of his career.
06:34That's a testament to World Supercrosses.
06:36I'd say growth and appeal for these riders, and good on PCE Cowie to let this man get
06:42a head start.
06:42Well, and that just has to speak to the amount of respect that Mitch has for Cameron McAdoo.
06:46He's been with that team for a very long time.
06:49There's obviously a great deal of trust and respect that he has to give him that motorcycle.
06:55Those bikes are mythical.
06:56A Pro Circuit 250F is one of the most mythical machines in this entire sport,
07:02and he's just given it, flown it across the country in a crate to ride under another tent.
07:08That's pretty cool.
07:09This is a 595 KTM of Brazil racing rider.
07:14Nico Koch on the big triple right here.
07:17Love that this team has made their way to World Supercross again.
07:20A new team and a new franchise for the series.
07:24He's coming out swinging here at the opening round at Calgary.
07:27It's still Sue, Anstie, Simonson, Hicks, 1-2-4.
07:30So the times aren't getting, they're not getting changed.
07:32They're not getting adjusted.
07:33Guys are squeezing different speeds in different segments of the track.
07:36But what a shakeup that would be if Sue comes out right away as your fastest qualifier
07:43heading into Super Bowl.
07:44Now, I don't know if guys have much background on Sue, but he was a phenom back in Europe.
07:49He was teammates with Ken Roxen when Ken Roxen was on his Suzuki and a guy that has raw speed
07:57for days.
07:58And we're seeing it now.
07:59Simonson up to the two spot right there.
08:00We just saw Kyle Peters.
08:01He is knocking on the door.
08:03There is Connelly right there.
08:05He is as well.
08:06McAdoo, Thompson, Connelly are the first three outside of Super Bowl qualifying.
08:11Connelly closing down a fast lap right here.
08:14Does he do anything with it?
08:16He does not.
08:17Let's go down to Chris and Beat with more.
08:19Just a moment ago, Max is visiting the hot pit.
08:22I spoke with his mechanic.
08:24He said they were looking for a different setting.
08:27He said he's just not 100% comfortable out there.
08:29But he does feel confident on the bike.
08:32So they're just trying to kind of figure out the settings for this session.
08:34They know they don't have time to make changes.
08:36He's confident where he's at in P3.
08:38But just not exactly where he wants to be for racing tonight.
08:41Yeah, and Max is smart that way.
08:43Again, an experienced racer.
08:44That's why he's at a number one on his bike.
08:45He knows when to come in, make an adjustment, how much time is left on the clock, where the value
08:50is in that.
08:51So not surprised to see him do that.
08:53He is safe right now in Super Bowl qualifying as we are starting to close down the time here in
08:58this session.
08:58We'll see Henry Miller, Robbie Wageman, some of the riders that I think will make a lot of noise this
09:03year as well.
09:04And the truck's holding up really well.
09:06We haven't really seen it break down too much in this session.
09:08They had a free practice session that went before.
09:11If you're enjoying the racing, make sure you hit that subscribe button.
09:14We've got plenty more action coming up so you don't want to miss the next heat.
09:18Stay tuned.
09:19Thanks.
09:20No change in the time.
09:22He is safe as it runs.
09:2353.3 in that run right there.
09:27Still a little bit off of the fastest qualifier, Brian Su.
09:32Simonson second, Anse third, Higgs fourth.
09:35Looks like the checkered flag is coming out right now.
09:39So for Max Anse, this is just one final look.
09:41Cameron McAdoo ripping through the whoops, squeezing a little bit more.
09:45Can he get it?
09:46Now he pulls out of this fast lap.
09:47So as it sits, he will not make it to the Super Bowl round.
09:52And that's the place you want to be.
09:54You get that shot at a single lap.
09:56You want to be the fastest qualifier.
09:57You get the gate pick for the night.
09:59So for McAdoo, Thompson, Connolly, and Peters, they were throwing everything at it the entire session
10:03but could not close the gap enough on Michael Higgs.
10:08So they'll go racing.
10:09This is a milestone moment for Stark.
10:11They've got two guys in Super Bowl right now.
10:14The best motor result that they've had is a third.
10:16That was Higgs in Sweden last year.
10:19This is huge.
10:19We were kind of expecting that Stark could have a good night tonight.
10:23Massive set of moves.
10:24Oh, we were.
10:26Higgs just got jumped by Cole Thompson on the last lap.
10:30It's still, you know what, they're still number one.
10:32This is a great moment for them anyway.
10:33They just lost their second guy.
10:35But you're right.
10:36Michael Higgs last year was really good in Sweden.
10:38He made it a Super Bowl before.
10:39So they've played around in this top four, but they've never been number one.
10:43This is incredible for the team to come out and make some noise early.
10:47Nice work, Brian Sue and Stark.
10:49And that whole team, that Stark team in Barcelona, will be watching right now.
10:54Shout out to you guys if you're watching.
10:55They all work extremely hard.
10:57So this is a very, very cool moment.
10:59A bit of a monumental moment in the sport that we just watched.
11:03Simonson's in second.
11:04Ansi third.
11:05Cole Thompson.
11:06I'm going to go.
