00:30And it looks like we have two Stark Vags out in front, we've been wondering all weekend if that was
00:36going to happen, and they go one and two, the crew in Barcelona are back there screaming right now.
00:41Brian Su was your fastest in qualifying, absolutely ripping, you saw the power down the straightaway right there, Michael Higson
00:48second, you've got the defending champ, Max Ancy third, Simonson fourth, and then a pair of Suzuki's running 5'6".
00:54We have all of the hitters up there, I can see Cameron McAdoo just entering into the frame now, man,
01:00nobody was talking about Brian Su at all coming into this championship, he was so unknown, and he is leading
01:06this first SX2 race.
01:08Here's the big test, through the whoops, the Stark Vag has been challenged there in the past, nice run by
01:14Su, but for Max Ancy, he blitzes up the inside of Michael Higgs in the second.
01:17Yeah, that is vintage Max Ancy, and that number one plate is looking great on the front of that brickware
01:24racing, getting used to seeing Max Ancy in this position, but Higgs is coming back at him.
01:28Ooh, Higgs up the inside, he could have been a little meaner right there, but he doesn't, he checks up,
01:32and for Ancy now, a slight bit of defense needed to hold off Higgs, but he needs to go on
01:37offense and get after Su.
01:38Higgs is not letting go of Ancy, eh? He has made so many strides over this offseason, he has been
01:45excited to get back into racing, he has not dropped off the back of Ancy.

02:07as Su continues to lead the race, Ancy's into second, Higgs third, Simonson fourth, so it's a Stark Vs Rick

02:14This is unbelievable, Devlin Simonson, he's made his way up onto the back of Higgs now, Higgs has been so
02:20far through this first sector though, the shortest sector on this track, he seems like he's really able to get
02:26the power on the ground over those first little roller obstacles.
02:29This is so rad for Brian Su, he said in the qualifying show he hasn't raced a Supercross in three
02:34years, we saw the speed, Jason, we questioned how will he do when the gate drops, well, he's answering that
02:39question now.
02:39Yeah, this is unbelievable, and he was a phenom racing in Europe on the same team as Ken Rockson, both
02:45of those guys were young superstars for Suzuki, his career went in a little bit of a different direction, I
02:51watched him race the last round at the Japanese Nationals last year, that was the first time he really came
02:56on my radar, and he's pulling away from Max Ancy right now.
02:59Nice run, Ancy goes 3-1 to the inside, so a little bit of a line change up there, Simonson,
03:04I was wondering, how long is he going to wait before he gets aggressive as that battle starts to creep
03:08away from third and fourth?
03:09It looks like Hicks might have had a little issue there, but he seems to have regathered it right now.
03:14This is what we were waiting for, this is what we were waiting for with the Starks, if anyone at
03:20home has ridden a Stark, you'd know just how efficiently these bikes get the power down to the ground, Supercross
03:27is obviously such a new and unique discipline, but man, year two for the Stark future team, and this is
03:33impressive.
03:34The sprint race delivers 10 points to the winner, all the way down to one, these races are weighted towards
03:41the end of the night, so the final race of the night will get the full 25 points, but if
03:44you're Brian Sue right now, stick the first 10 on the board if you can, Max Ancy sitting there right
03:49in his shadows, but hasn't been able to close the gap, Kristen.

04:06Devin Simonson sitting in third now checks over his shoulder, Michael Hicks is right there, he's opened up just enough
04:12of a gap to where he can stop with the defense, get back to the offense, as Max Ancy and
04:17Brian Sue continue to pull away.
04:19Yeah, this is a really, really great battle, both up front and for this final position on the podium, it
04:26looks like Simonson might have finally broke the toe just a little bit of Hicks, let's see if he can
04:32set off after his teammate, that's what he has been talking about all weekend, I love that Devin Simonson is
04:37not scared to throw it out there, he wants to talk the talk and he wants to back it up.
04:41Let's talk about the Stark, oh, Max Ancy says, hold up, don't talk about the Stark, talk about me, up
04:47the inside, does he make the pass, and he does, nice move, Max Ancy into the lead.
04:52That is what you expect from the champion, but I think Sue has something to say about it.
05:00He's right on his back tire, goes a little out to end right there, but for Max Ancy, he was
05:04so efficient in his super pull, it was the best lap he put down all day, and now with a
05:09little more traction in the soil,
05:10a little bit more comfort with this track, Ancy has the clear track and a chance to run away.
05:15It's going to be really interesting now to see what Max Ancy does with this lead, the track is treacherous
05:21out there tonight, and I think that Max Ancy's experience is going to play such a massive factor,
05:26if there's anybody that is comfortable leading a World Supercross SX2 race, it's that guy right there.
05:31We are running out of time for Devin Simonson, if he wants to get to second, he's going to have
05:35to pull off some miracle speed to get to Sue,
05:38and for Ancy, I love the whoops, the 3-1 to the inside, that's just straight racecraft right there for
05:43the number one machine.
05:44Yeah, and just carrying so much momentum through that section, it's Devin Simonson, he wants to join his teammate up
05:50front.
05:51How aggressive is he going to get there?
05:55Devin Simonson, well played, nice little checkup from Brian Sue, didn't do it enough.
06:00Simonson with a little mistake right there, but that was a patient move for the 70 machine,
06:04and if you're Rick Ware right now, you are loving what you are seeing, you've got Max Ancy out front,
06:08Devin Simonson, who rode the SX1 division last year, drops down, and now runs second in race number one of
06:15a 3-race format.
06:16What a way to start the night for Rick Ware racing.
06:18That was aggressive, but that was measured aggression.
06:22Brian Sue's just enough behind him now that he can't launch a retaliation attack,
06:26but it wasn't so dirty that there's going to be any payback in that.
06:30That was a great racecraft by Devin Simonson, and like you said, dream start for this championship.
06:35That's a topic that we have been following all week, is just how hard they have gone
06:39to take this championship off the Quad Lock Honda team.
06:41Speaking of the Quad Lock Honda team, none of their guys in this picture right now.
06:45Cameron McAdoo has made his way up to fifth, getting by Kyle Peters, running through the order.
06:50You see Brody Conley, that's going to be a great story this season.
06:53Cole Thompson, Crockett Myers, and Ryan Brees running top ten.
06:57And it looks like Sue has now been passed by Hicks.
07:00I'm not sure if there's a problem there, but he has dropped off the pace dramatically in just a lap.
07:07Hanstey is gone. Simonson is gone.
07:09If you're Cameron McAdoo, every point will matter for this championship.
07:13He goes from five to four.
07:15Can he go to four to three with just a couple corners left?
07:18We know McAdoo could rip the whoops.
07:20We know Michael Hicks is a great whoop rider as well.
07:22That might be what dictates the story for third.
07:25Yeah, and that position is going to be crucial when we come to the overall for Max Anstey.
