00:00Group A, qualifier number two on track.
00:02We're fueled by food for less.
00:05And Julian Beaumere, we do a gate drop every session number two,
00:08and he is out front early.
00:10Adam picking up right where he left off.
00:12Fastest qualifier earlier today.
00:14And again, I cannot say enough how impressed I am with Julian Beaumere
00:19coming back from that injury.
00:21And Chase, tell me if I'm wrong,
00:22but Juju's always been one to get a little loose on the bike,
00:25and I don't know what he did in that time.
00:28He was injured six weeks on the bike before pro motocross,
00:31but he's looked more efficient and in control
00:34than I've ever seen so far in his career.
00:36I think a little bit, I mean, him getting a little bit older, more mature,
00:40I think he also took that time when he was injured
00:43to kind of realize maybe why we're having these issues
00:47and why we're having these crashes.
00:48And I think him being around Jorge is helping a lot.
00:52I think there's so many things that come together to get this result.
00:57And to be honest, watching him in outdoors this year,
00:59he still likes this.
01:00I mean, you watch Julian, he still likes to send it.
01:03It's a little bit more controlled.
01:05And to be honest, on a track like this, one, it's a little faster.
01:08I think he's going to be really good on this type of track.
01:11And two, on that bike, the KTM,
01:13when it gets a little bit more hard pack and more slick,
01:15that bike's going to come into play too.
01:17So I think, to be honest, he could be a good pick for tonight for the win.
01:23Well, he needs a bounce back ride after the struggling at playoff race number one.
01:26And talk about the momentum, though, Adam,
01:28from his dominating performance at Ironman a couple weeks ago,
01:31final round of the regular season pro motocross.
01:34And then he comes in.
01:35He's been talking about the playoffs all year long after that tough back injury
01:39to start the playoffs like he did.
01:41He mentioned it earlier with our own Haley Shanley.
01:43This is round one to him.
01:44Yeah, and I think you can't do what Julian Beaumere did this summer
01:48without having a lot of belief in yourself.
01:50And I think that's been something that is unique about Julian
01:53since he first started racing professionally.
01:56I think mentally he's very strong,
01:58and he's shown that with his ability to overcome this injury.
02:02And I agree with you, Chase.
02:03Whatever he did in those weeks getting back on the bike,
02:06I think sometimes as a rider, when you get hurt, especially a young rider,
02:10he used those first few weeks to really focus on those technical aspects
02:14that you'd like to change.
02:16And it's clear he went to work on that,
02:18and he's a guy that's going to be in the championship conversation
02:21in the 250 class for as long as he's in the class.
02:25Joe Shimoda struggled a week ago similar to Julian Beaumere,
02:29but Joe Shimoda no stranger to doing well here in the SMX playoffs.
02:32He's our champion from a year ago, collected that $500,000 payday.
02:37Remember that epic battle with him and Hayden Deegan
02:39coming down to the wire in Las Vegas?
02:42Can he bring some of that magic back?
02:44And, Adam, this is a guy that you know well.
02:46You trained alongside of him.
02:47You talked about his fitness level and his belief
02:50as he goes for a fast lap here.
02:51Yeah, it really is.
02:53I talk about this all the time with Joe Shimoda
02:55because it's so impressive to me.
02:57He's a hard worker, but I'm not sure, Chase,
03:00if he's just a genetic freak.
03:01I mean, this guy doesn't sweat.
03:03I've never seen him get tired.
03:05It doesn't matter if we're out there for an hour,
03:07then going to the gym, then getting on the bike ride.
03:09Like, he just doesn't get tired.
03:11For this format, with the hybrid track, not as technical.
03:15I wouldn't say, as I said in the first session,
03:18this isn't really where Joe thrives.
03:20He thrives when you have to be precise on technical racetracks,
03:24but if he wants any shot at backing up
03:27the SMX World Championship from last year,
03:30after that bad round one,
03:32there's no choice for him but to pull it today
03:34as it looks like he's a little upset
03:36with the rider getting in his way.
03:38He's not happy.
03:39Chase, talk about that.
03:40We've all done it before.
03:41You're on a fast lap,
03:42then you come up on some slower traffic.
03:44It can get pretty frustrating.
03:45Yeah.
03:47I've done some questionable things,
03:49I would say, when that happens.
03:50I think, I want to say that was Yoder, maybe.
03:54I think it was Yoder.
03:55Yoder, yeah.
03:56And I actually maybe saw him getting to do it with Davey's
03:58in the first practice.
03:59If you're enjoying the action,
04:00hit that subscribe button and turn on notifications
04:02so you don't miss the next heat.
04:04Let's get into it.
04:05I don't know how many guys are in this practice.
04:0815, maybe.
04:09There's not a lot of space out there
04:11when everyone's trying to get a clear lap.
04:12So it's tough.
04:14I've been on both ends of that spectrum.
04:15I've gotten to people's way before
04:17and they're not stoked with me.
04:18So, yeah, what goes around comes around.
04:21Would you say it's a little bit easier
04:22to get a clear track at the 450 level?
04:25I always felt in the 250 class,
04:27they were a little bit less willing
04:29to give you the space.
04:31Yeah, I think the 450 class, everyone,
04:33just in general, I mean,
04:34in the 250 class off the start,
04:36I mean, you're lucky to make it out alive
04:38in practice.
04:39That's for sure.
04:39And the 450 class, even in the races,
04:42everyone, for the most part, is respectful.
04:44They kind of know what to do.
04:46The 250 class sometimes just seems like,
04:49yeah, they just don't,
04:50the brain's not on that day.
04:52So, yeah, I would say,
04:54and even coming to getting a fast lap,
04:56it is tough because, guys,
04:58I think the 250 class
04:59has a little bit more attitude.
05:01They're younger.
05:02And, yeah, I just,
05:03I would say it's a little bit harder
05:05to get a good lap.
05:07Kato Muneer on that Monster Energy
05:08Yamaha Star racing bike.
05:10Looking back there,
05:10we showed Levi Kitchen just briefly,
05:12and I want to ask both of you guys
05:13because all three of us actually
05:15are pretty close to the 94 of Ken Rockson.
05:17But Levi Kitchen been posting a lot,
05:19working out with Ken Rockson.
05:20Chase, you did that as well
05:21throughout the years.
05:22But just talk about
05:24maybe that mentorship
05:25and how important it is
05:26for all of us at times
05:28to have mentors.
05:28And it looks like Ken Rockson
05:30kind of taking the 47 under his wing.
05:32I think, yeah,
05:34I think everyone here at this table
05:36has spent a lot of time with Kenny.
05:37He's obviously done the same for me,
05:40really being a role model,
05:41along with Adam, honestly.
05:43Yeah, absolutely.
05:44With, like I said,
05:45there was three of us at that point,
05:46so I was the younger one.
05:47I got to learn off both of them.
05:49And then, obviously,
05:51towards the end,
05:51Adam is in California,
05:53and I was just with Kenny in Florida.
05:54And he was, yeah,
05:55he's very selfless
05:57when it comes to just helping guys
05:59and is always there
06:00to give mentorship.
06:02And I think Levi,
06:04in specific,
06:05is very mentally,
06:06I wouldn't say mentally,
06:08I would say their personalities
06:09are pretty similar, maybe.
06:11Pretty laid back.
06:11Yeah, pretty laid back.
06:12They like to have fun.
06:15Oh, that's a new line.
06:16I was seeing that in the press box.
06:17I said, someone's going to do that.
06:19And Levi just pulled it out.
06:21But I think that
06:21as far as personality-wise,
06:23they get along really well.
06:25And I think Levi
06:26likes having Ken around, obviously.
06:28I don't get to be with Levi a lot.
06:32But yeah, just talking to him,
06:34he loves having Ken around.
06:35And I think Ken, like I said,
06:37is a great mentor.
06:38And for Levi, it's a big help.
06:39And it's just easier to do it
06:41when you have good people
06:42around you, right?
06:43The emotional highs and lows
06:45of this sport are so difficult.
06:47So when you have a good crew
06:48that's able to break up the work,
06:50I think over the course of the year,
06:52more than anything,
06:53it's important to kind of have that,
06:55to have that fun aspect of it.
06:56Because when it's going the wrong way,
06:58the results aren't there,
06:59you're not feeling great.
07:00It's easy.
07:01It's really easy to not love
07:03your job for the time.
07:04And that's what I mean
07:05when Ken and Levi
07:06are kind of the same person.
07:08Ken likes to have fun
07:08while training.
07:09And like if he's not having fun
07:11or like I should say
07:12he likes to mix it up
07:13and like keep it fresh.
07:15And he prioritizes fun.
07:16Yes.
07:16And I think Levi is the same way.
07:17And for me,
07:18I'm not really like that.
07:21But I do the work
07:21whether it's fun or not.
07:23But as far as Kenny and Levi,
07:25they like to mix it up
07:27and just kind of make
07:28everything more enjoyable.
07:29Kind of not wing it,
07:30but they kind of play it day-to-day.
07:33More like,
07:34I don't know how you'd say that,
07:35but they just kind of wake up
07:36and they're feeling this,
07:37they do that,
07:37and that's how both of them are.
07:39So I think that's
07:39why they get along so well.
07:41I think they're laid-back
07:42personalities both.
07:43It's so difficult to,
07:45most of the time,
07:46I feel all these guys
07:47are hard workers,
07:48but I think for the most part,
07:50the common mistake
07:51is that we do too much.
07:52Yes.
07:53Especially when the results
07:54aren't there.
07:55It's like we'll go to the track
07:56on Monday and do
07:57two motos Monday,
07:58two motos Tuesday,
07:59two motos Wednesday,
08:00where as Levi knocks out
08:02that line again,
08:04I think it's important
08:05just to have that perspective
08:06of fun.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Yeah, I don't...
08:08If you're enjoying the racing,
08:10make sure you hit
08:10that subscribe button.
08:12We've got plenty more
08:13action coming up
08:14so you don't want to
08:15miss the next heat.
08:16Stay tuned.
08:17Thanks.
08:18Just personality,
08:19they're super laid-back.
08:20So I'm hoping Levi
08:23can get some good starts tonight.
08:25And I think fitness
08:26is going to come down to,
08:28when you're talking about
08:28Joe not getting tired,
08:30I think it's the Japanese in him.
08:31The Japanese people
08:32do not get tired
08:33of anything they do.
08:34And I think for him,
08:35the second moto
08:36is going to play a big role
08:37in tonight
08:38on who gets the overall,
08:39obviously.
08:40But I think Joe
08:41in that second moto
08:42is going to come out
08:43of the woodwork a bit.
08:44You think this is an easy...
08:45You think this is an easy...
09:04Here in the playoffs,
09:06and Chase,
09:07I want to get your opinion
09:07real quick,
09:08is when they drop the gate,
09:10you're straight into race one.
09:11Now, typical format,
09:12regular season in Supercross,
09:13you have a heat race
09:14kind of open up your body
09:15a little bit,
09:15then you have the main event.
09:17I don't know if you're like me,
09:18but sometimes in the heat race,
09:19I'm like,
09:19I'm not going to be able
09:19to make it 20 minutes
09:20later on tonight.
09:21I just did six minutes
09:22plus the lap
09:22and I got tight.
09:23So talk about having to do
09:24maybe a longer warm-up,
09:25maybe a more intense warm-up,
09:27because the first gate drop,
09:28they're doing 20 minutes.
09:29Yeah, you got to be ready
09:31to go right off the rip.
09:33And I haven't,
09:34to be fair,
09:35I haven't raced
09:35a whole bunch of the races
09:36that are like this,
09:38where they're almost
09:39all Supercross.
09:40I raced LA.
09:41That was a pretty much...
09:42It was a Supercross track,
09:43but it was also bigger
09:44than this one.
09:45So I think even last week
09:46and this weekend,
09:47them being tighter
09:48and more...
