AccuWeather is monitoring the Gulf, Caribbean and southwestern Atlantic for tropical development into late September and early October as tropical moisture and energy interact across the region.
Transcript
00:00We're monitoring two areas this week for development.
00:03One medium risk area south and east of Bermuda that has a higher risk than the Gulf.
00:09Even if that would develop into a tropical depression or storm, it would not have an impact on the United
00:14States.
00:15We're also going to watch an upper low that's going to be pushing into the Gulf over the next couple
00:20of days.
00:20That is a low chance of development.
00:22However, what that upper level system is going to do in the long term as we get into next week
00:28is going to push the jet stream down into the Caribbean.
00:31So this is how you get homegrown development, right?
00:33The interaction between the jet stream and the tropics.
00:36That dip of the jet stream is going to pull tropical moisture northward and energy.
00:41Will something develop?
00:42Well, it's possible mid to late next week.
00:46But this is the area to watch for development moving forward.
00:49Not only next week, but in the early October.
00:52Anywhere from the Gulf to the southwest Atlantic.
00:56Lots of showers and thunderstorms.
00:58In this area, the question is, well, anything to develop.
01:01This is the area to watch.
