00:00Commanders came down to the wire with the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:03They had a two-point conversion at the end to try to tie it up.
00:08They call.
00:09Shovel pass up the middle to John Bates.
00:13Alan Gretti maybe misses a block.
00:15D-tackle makes a hell of a play.
00:17Ojomo.
00:18Two-point conversion, no good.
00:20I don't like the call.
00:21I don't like taking the ball out of Jaden's hands.
00:24I'd rather him be able to freelance and just find something he likes.
00:30That said, I do agree with Dan Quinn, his assessment postgame,
00:35that I asked him kind of what his role is in that situation.
00:40Because obviously the head coach is deciding we're going for two
00:43or we're going for one.
00:44But that was an obvious go for two.
00:46There was no debate.
00:47You're down two under a minute left or whatever it was.
00:50So then I'm like, well, what about in the actual play call?
00:52And the team, all NFL teams prepare a number of two-point conversion play calls.
00:58Say you got seven of them.
00:59Five of them.
01:00However many you got.
01:02And so Quinn's aware of what the calls are.
01:05Blau tells him what he thinks.
01:07DQ says, I like it.
01:08Go for it.
01:09And the play could have been there.
01:11A few different things went wrong.
01:13You correctly pointed out Jaden didn't necessarily sell the action to the end.
01:19You know, Allegretti and Cosme aren't able to contain Ojomo there.
01:25Ojomo also made an incredible play, which he deserves credit for.
01:28Because I am looking at him in that position.
01:30I would have never thought he would spin out that direction.
01:35I also don't know if he doesn't make that play that Bates still gets in.
01:38Because I think the linebackers were crashing down.
01:40But we'll never know that, right?
01:41Yeah, two offensive linemen right there in front of him.
01:43And I think Rashad White was wide open in the flat.
01:46Jaden obviously, per his keys on that play, the D end stayed.
01:51So he's supposed to push it inside.
01:53I think Dan Quinn correctly summed it up.
01:56He said, I like the call.
01:58We didn't execute.
01:59It just sucks.
02:00Yeah.
02:01So I don't like the call, but they do.
02:04But I can understand why.
02:06I can understand it.
02:07No, I can understand why it was Bates.
02:11Because in that situation, just like you sitting there with the keys,
02:15everyone was saying, well, I wanted this hand, this hand, this hand, this hand.
02:18You know what Vic Fangio was thinking?
02:20It was going to this person, this person, this person, this person.
02:23So you go to the guy.
02:24No one, the person they least expect just happened.
02:28Nobody got on a Jomo.
02:30And he made a tackle.
02:32I want to let the callers weigh in on what they thought of the call.
02:38Let's go to Dave down at Raleigh.
02:40Dave, what's up, dude?
02:41Thanks for listening.
02:42What did you make of the two-point conversion play call?
02:48Dave, you're up, dude.
02:49You there?
02:50Yeah, I'm here.
02:51Can you hear me?
02:52Yeah, we got you now, buddy.
02:54Sorry.
02:54Yeah, I'm like most of you guys.
02:56I didn't like the play call.
02:57I was up in the – my arms were up in the air when it happened.
02:59I was like, what the hell is this?
03:00But then I heard Jaden was asked in the post-game conference.
03:04They asked him, I said, did he have options on that play?
03:07And he said, yeah.
03:08And I think, Jaden, you just correctly said it.
03:10White was wide open there.
03:12He didn't even look his way.
03:13And I don't know, man.
03:14And I – you like him at least to see that he could be open there.
03:20I mean, he walks in for the two-point right there.
03:24Yeah.
03:25I mean, Jaden didn't really look to him.
03:27He had the keys of – depending on the safety is where you go.
03:30I mean, of the DN.
03:32And the DN didn't do what he needed to do to throw the ball.
03:36So he read his keys.
03:38I mean, look, the thing of it is, like, the thing I hate the most is revisionist play callers.
03:47In the moment, if there's a block on that play, that play could work.
03:51After the fact, nobody's going to like it because it didn't work.
03:55I've seen plays call that I'm like, this is garbage before, and then it works.
03:59The next day, I'm talking about how great the call was.
04:02And I just think that's the thing of it.
04:04It didn't work, so, of course, no one's going to be happy with it today.
04:08But I'm telling you, that play could have worked if they blocked that one guy.
04:13Let's go to Donnell in Woodbridge.
04:15What's up, Donnell?
04:17Hey, what's up?
04:20What did you think of the call?
04:24I think it was a good call.
04:26Now that I hear Beeman speak on that, Beeman said, I want to let you know I'm always a fan.
04:30Prejudice.
04:32If they had the right blockers in place to do what they should have been done,
04:35do what they should have done, that would have worked.
04:40I mean, we as fans, we're sitting there.
04:42Of course, we can say, oh, he should have threw it out to White as possible.
04:45But I think Jaden was looking for what he thought may have been the quick approach.
04:51And I think if the blockers had been in place to block that one person, because it was only one
04:55person,
04:56then guess what?
04:57That play would have worked because all he had was space.
05:01Yeah, I'm not critiquing Jaden for not going to White.
05:05He played it how it's coached.
05:08I just would have rather Jaden had the opportunity to make a play with his legs, find somebody.
05:14I don't care if it's a different call and Bates is at the goal line open and Jaden fires it
05:19to Bates.
05:20It's cool.
05:20I just would have rather Jaden had some autonomy on the play call.
05:24Thank you, Danelle.
05:25And for what it's worth, Jaden was nothing but complimentary about the play, about his relationship with Blau.
05:31Like there does not seem to be any inner strife among them with the call, which is by far what
05:37matters most.
05:38Let's go to Brian in La Plata.
05:40Brian, what's up, dude?
05:43What's up, y'all?
05:43How y'all doing?
05:44Good, man.
05:45How are you?
05:45So I'm not going to lie.
05:48It's probably a little bit emotional.
05:50I was going to call in and say this was the worst call in franchise history.
05:55That's extreme.
05:56You ever see Swing and Gate?
05:57I'm going to walk that back a little bit.
05:59Yeah, yeah.
06:00I was actually at that game, the Giant game.
06:01And you thought that was – you thought the one yesterday was worse than that?
06:05Nah.
06:06The first time they did it was the second time when they did Swing and Gate.
06:10But both of them.
06:11But, look, it's recent.
06:14I'm upset.
06:15I'm having a miserable Monday right now.
06:17It was the Eagles.
06:18I really wanted to win it.
06:19So it was emotional.
06:21But actually thinking about it and listening to y'all, yeah, nobody expected us to go to John Bates.
06:27I still, tomorrow, I'm not going to John Bates.
06:30You're never going to convince me if I'm the offensive coordinator to find John Bates in that situation.
06:34Just not.
06:35I'm going to go to my dogs.
06:37I'm going to look somewhere else.
06:38I'd much rather go down swinging with Terry, Diggs, Jaden, than John Bates.
06:44I'm sorry.
06:45He's a blocking tight end to me.
06:46I just – I'm never going to get what I hear you, B-Mitch.
06:50Vic ain't expecting it.
06:51Nobody expected it.
06:52None of us expected it.
06:53It just – going down without my dogs is just – it gets on my nerves.
06:58But we're on the Dallas week, and I expect us to win that game, and I'm going to be emotional
07:03about that if we lose, too.
07:04And I want to say it's the worst game in history.
07:06So, put on it.
07:08You're allowed to be emotional, man.
07:10Thanks for the call.
07:11You're going to just change the subject and keep in history at the end of all the sentences.
07:15Right.
07:16Russell's calling from Ken Island.
07:17What's up, Russ?
07:19Hey, what's up, B-Mitch?
07:20What's up, Finley?
07:21What's up, man?
07:21How you doing, dude?
07:23Hey, man.
07:23Just, you know, the call itself is like, wow.
07:26You know, but then having a chance to see it again.
07:28Oh, you know, he should have thrown the ball.
07:30We had Lon in downfield.
07:31So, that would have been an ineligible man downfield.
07:34The call was the call.
07:35However, I like the power I.
07:37Why not put Ben Sennett, you know, in front of a fat man and slam that ball up the gut?
07:42As Doc said, either we did it, we'd shake hands and say, you know what, we could square up.
07:47Because you can't tell me with, you know, Sennett leading as a block, we don't stand a higher percentage of,
07:53you know,
07:54completing that play, you know, extending the game.
07:57So, Jaden's going to roll with Blau.
08:00Blau called the call.
08:01You know, it is what it is.
08:02A couple missed assignments.
08:04You know, yeah, we can blame Allegretti because if you make the block.
08:07But, you know, credit to the D-line.
08:08Like you said, spin him out.
08:10I don't know if it had much to do.
08:12Because if you remember, Terry went into motion.
08:14And so, you know, if that might have took the hand towards, you know, hey, what was coming on that,
08:19you know,
08:19outside little shuttle pass.
08:21But, you know what, I'm excited with this defense and where it's going.
08:25Can't wait to get, you know, famous Amos.
08:27To put Mikey back on the inside.
08:29But I'm happy.
08:31It's a tough loss.
08:32But, you know what, the future looks good.
08:35Thank you, guys, man.
08:35Have a great day.
08:36Thank you, man.
08:37Appreciate you, man.
08:37I love Doc.
08:39And I love the history of this football team.
08:42And I know about the Hogs and John Riggins and Brian Mitchell and Ernest Beiner.
08:47Like, I know all of it.
08:48But I'm very comfortable throwing from the two for a two-point conversion.
08:53Like, lining up in the I formation against Philly with Carter and Davis in the middle of that thing.
08:58And those linebackers that cover a lot of ground.
09:01I'm very comfortable throwing there.
09:04So, like, as far as should they have run or passed, like, I'm cool with the pass, 100%.
