00:00um really really interesting day yesterday commanders go up to philadelphia and
00:07defensively they were pretty impressive there's a lot to like when you watch that defense
00:11give up too many big plays that's a consistent problem from last year that appears to have
00:17extended into this year i think it was a little different last year compared to what happened
00:22it was consistent right yesterday was a lack of communication on certain uh plays where two plays
00:27100 yards they they were standing talking trying to get their calls out when they got their calls
00:33out they were good but you had four times they should have had jayden jayden hirst sacked third
00:39and you give up a 22 yard run i mean there were real back breakers throughout that game for me
00:46what i was impressed was how well jayden played in the fourth quarter he clearly had shook off the
00:51rust by the fourth quarter and they were dealing i think he was nine of eleven for 100 yards with
00:55two touchdowns there's a lot of really impressive stuff from yesterday and we're going to get into
01:00all of it but they also lost the game yeah and like that's the primary focus and and i think

01:06worse is it wasn't like oh they played pretty well and philly was just clearly better i you you wonder
01:13you fear you get to the end of the year you get to thanksgiving and you're starting to wonder about
01:17playoff positioning and you kind of let that one slip yeah that was a winnable game yeah it was a
01:23winnable game this is the way i look at this whole thing i think going into this game yesterday if

01:29had to put a poll out and people were giving me the opinions and the ideas they thought before that
01:33game they thought washington was gonna get their ass kicked not me okay i told you you put it out
01:38there you put that out there but most people thought washington get their ass kicked okay they
01:42didn't think they were gonna play well because they hadn't seen anything nick allagretti shut a lot
01:46of people up i would say uh jayden's just the concerns about the offensive line were proven
01:51relatively overblown they were i know there's pressure stats that people want to count about
01:55jayden being under pressure no he wouldn't in the first half the ball you know why he was under
01:59pressure nobody was under pressure because of the secondary the coverage that they were playing
02:04right was making sure that they didn't have a ton of separation they wouldn't let it was a lot
02:07it wasn't about separation stuff they run a lot of cloud help over the top coverages where
02:13jayden sees the people over the top the lay the layman watching that thing yesterday

04:51know the only thing i thought i tell you love about jay jayton's gonna find you if you open he'll
04:55spread it around yeah um i i thought you know chig looked pretty good he left with an injury he

05:00three injury situations i mean this is a one-off thing but there's a reason it went viral how about
05:06tyler owens as a gunner getting double teamed getting held knocks both the guys trying to block him down
05:12and then sees the ball finds the ball attacks the ball barrels somebody pulls it tyler needs to be drug
05:18tasted tested immediately listen to me though from last year he left with an injury too yeah talking to
05:25people last year about him he is the fastest guy on the football his size and speed is hard to
05:31people people don't understand that he is the fastest guy on the team 10 flat 100 meters okay from
05:38texas so you know he's got a lot of speed in texas but the kid now is he he has
05:43strength that most of
05:44those guys out there blocking can't deal with him now the injury is going to complicate a lot of things
05:48but i almost wonder if we should see him on defense more like that the dontavian wicks the first big
05:55bomb that got caught i don't know what happened with mikey eventually we'll ask him it seemed like
05:59he stopped running on the play i i texted you because i thought maybe he felt something in his
06:04in his legs he saw that safety it was two safeties he saw them and he kind of slowed up

06:11because the time the tight end also had the speed to get over yeah but the tight end would have

06:16end flashed as well like coming a shorter i saw that from the beginning i didn't know that from
06:22the beginning i was looking i don't know if he was supposed to go all the way deep because it

06:27like it was like a two a cover two or something and it did the one thing that confused me

06:31there was another receiver like 15 yards back that seemed to catch his eye but the ball was in the

06:38at that point it almost seemed like an outfielder misjudging a fly ball or something like you think
06:43you're stopping and then you're not and then you're cooked the the same or still the dontavian wicks
06:47touchdown that is a real problem yeah because he he's the boundary you're the outside he seems to
06:54bid on the inside actually he seems to have lacked lost some confidence that he had early on
07:00and because on that play if you look at that play all the help was inside right so there was

07:05pressure on hurts yeah he can make that throw wait another quarter of a second hurts his sack

07:41i said the the two things for washington to win saquon barkley if you looked at fandle or draft kings

07:47whatever they offer a stat the longest single rush right white brian looked it up for us last week it
07:52was 18 and a half yards i said you got to keep him under that you cannot let saquon get

07:57and saquon finished that game with about 85 yards rushing he got half of it on one carry it was

08:03was just a backbreaker they couldn't have that's what saquon does to his credit but by and large they
08:08they bottled him up except for the one big one which kills him and and then you needed a clean

08:13your rookie kicker every point was going to be valuable in this game and you needed a clean sheet
08:19the blocked extra point and the missed field goal it's a rookie kicker there's going to be ups and downs
08:24but like i mean if you just do the math that's four points that's that's the win and we we

08:31i know people have a ton of opinions on the two-point conversion play call i didn't love it in

08:36watching it back i for me i still want in that situation trust my my guy my best player is

08:44daniels number five i want him to have lots of options i want him to be able to use his

08:50him to be able to look for terry or digs like his options the design of that route maybe he

08:55have thrown it to white but then you also have john bates coming across if it was executed properly
09:01everybody's gonna make a big deal out of the d tackle making that play i'm still not sure bates
09:05gets all the way to the end zone because there were linebackers crashing down if the d tackle doesn't
09:11make that play but for me i want jayden with the ball in his hands with the ability to move

09:17make a play find terry find digs find williams maybe find bates or white too i think i want jayden
09:24to have more on that play like jayden stated they didn't execute the play properly and i agree totally
09:31and i will hit you with something that many people probably yeah you said this i like this when he

09:43he'll sell it more he'll get more reaction from the people trying to flow out in front of him
09:47because of the ability that he has he took one step and he was already the ball was in his

09:53like he was ready to pitch it and people stopped now the offensive lineman got whipped
09:59uh missed the block yeah and the guy was sitting there anyway the d tackle made a hell of a

10:04it's a lot of things that went wrong in that play to mess it up but i think if you
10:09had sold it properly
10:10and had that block you'd be walking in the end zone because nobody expected john base to get the ball
10:15100 that's the reason i think it's kind of a great idea because that's the last person they think
10:21gonna touch the football 100 but you got to sell that more all in all and this is my question

11:19debut than blau no durante did because they both looked pretty good the aggressiveness of it but
11:24blau really settled in in the second half once jayden really said i think we put more pressure on
11:29things than people really feel hell on the other side manion he didn't seem like he was concerned
11:34either no he was the first time calling if you've been around this game of football long enough
11:39you just gotta you it ain't about the plays you call it's about the players that's running these
11:44plays oh and if you got horses they can make it happen i think it took washington a little bit

12:01then you give up a handful of big plays yeah that changed the game and to their credit i thought
12:07both big places uh dontavion wicks were the defense's fault the big play to devontae smith
12:14sometimes you got to tip your cap hurts through a perfect ball and smith made an incredible catch
12:19like and see that's the one thing i think we all forget about we cheer for a team and we

12:25there the other people get paid too right you know they're professional athletes on the other side of the
12:30ball too so when i watch i think the rebuilt defensive line might be what i was most encouraged
12:35by like they were able to generate pressure on the edges against saquon the edges set the edges well
12:42but when's the last time we said that sentence that's that's been a long time but i'm gonna tell
12:46you oh nothing nine zero menu strong brother yeah he got three three holding calls on on one person
12:54yeah you know people don't look at that as like a big that's a big play when they're holding you
12:59inside that mean you're whipping them and that's 10 10 yards right there per per uh totally so they

13:36position he plays cross though his what's this lats up here his lats and chest he's built like a
13:44linebacker he just has the speed to be back there that's what i'm saying a lot of those very good
13:49safeties don't usually have that barrel chest like that uh not all of them but every once in a while
13:54you find one that was a tweener yeah he's too small to be the linebacker but he's just size enough

13:59be a safety but he has the mindset of a linebacker certainly that's where i look at nick cross i

14:03there was a lot to be encouraged about the the big plays the mistakes i mean it's kind of wild

14:25they don't they lose that game he ran that damn ball yesterday he did i mean dude like lost in

14:34conversion third and 18 you give up a 22-yard run to hurts they had a third and goal from

14:41they gave up a touchdown on like those are back breakers that is the stuff that cannot happen
14:48and it happened yesterday it happens sometimes jay you do whatever you want but but it's hard to win
14:53games yeah they allowed they allowed that one to happen because i think they could have played that

15:23and you just you wonder what a you wonder what winning week one in philadelphia going up there and
15:30just stealing one does for a team i do think there is plenty of reasons to be excited about the
15:37commanders i think it's a marathon brother totally i thought jayden was really smart yesterday talking
15:43about that you know the season ebbs and flows and it really does football seasons are living
15:48breathing organisms that morph over the course of five months it just when you when you're that close
15:54to getting one you'd like to have it you know what i mean but for hurts one thing that is

16:00with hurts is for all the conversation around him he finished last night 14 of 25 for 200 with three
16:07touchdowns and another 45 on the ground like he just does enough for his team to win jayden started
16:14it was slow dude he was six of i want to say six of 16 at halftime he was six
16:19of 16 but he finished
16:20strong i think you gotta you gotta look at that and i think we got that's what we there were

16:25drops too it was drops and also he threw away four of them dude which is smart which is what

16:30but see that's the thing i think if he plays the way everyone wants him to play his completion ratio
16:37gonna go down some because he's gonna throw balls away and protect himself but every once in a while
16:42he's gonna have to be mr spinner and like he was in that one play and i'm gonna tell you

16:47watching the game and tana and i are both saying listen we understand he's throwing it away but he's
16:54gonna have to use his legs eventually and i like the fact that after he did the spin he got

16:59immediately because that was one play where he dropped back it was 30 yards to the left and he
17:06waited and he was waiting he went out to the right side if he uses his legs and get down
17:14defense is gonna be they're gonna have hell to pay because the fact that he wasn't running early
17:20then they were not concerned about him when you play a game you don't have to be you have to
17:25worry
17:25about his legs that's an advantage defense for sure but if he runs a few of them and protects himself
17:32you know i think that is going to help this offense out even more i'm not trying to make him
17:38go out and
17:38run all the time don't want to see that but i applauded him for what he was doing but i
17:43also know
17:43that was a mature game yeah i also know that for this team to be his absolute best
17:49five is going you have to use everything that he has
