00:00And while the Atlantic basin has been relatively quiet with tropical activity, it's been very, very different across the Pacific
00:08in the eastern and western Pacific and the central Pacific.
00:11By the way, this is Norbert losing wind intensity.
00:15It will continue to drift west over the coming days.
00:18And by the time its moisture arrives in Hawaii later this week, there won't be much left to it.
00:24However, it will enhance the trade wind flow, so there could be some locally heavy rain here as we get
00:30toward the end of the week and some flooding.
00:32And while flooding is possible on all the islands here, it seems like the big island would have the highest
00:38potential for the heaviest rain.
00:41All right, speaking of heavy rain, we've had a lot of problems in Japan over the last week to 10
00:46days.
00:46We've seen this, these little dips in the jet stream coming across Mongolia and the China, lifting northward.
00:52We get a stalled boundary across Japan, and then you have tropical moisture coming northward.
00:58This pattern is going to continue this week, and we're going to be looking at locally heavy rain, especially, I'd
01:04say, from Tokyo on south, where there can be some localized flooding.
01:09And, boy, is it going to be humid as well.
01:12And there could be a bigger problem down the road.
01:14We talked about this last week, this area of showers and thunderstorms here, well to the east of the Philippines.
01:21We have this highlighted as a, for a high risk for development as we go through this week.
01:27There's the area as we get toward, well, over the next few days here.
01:32All right.
01:33So we're worried about that developing.
01:34Now, this will likely become a typhoon.
01:37And then by Saturday, as it lifts to the north and east, this is where we could have some problems
01:42for Japan.
01:43Now, if the high pressure remains strong, that would steer this toward China.
01:47But if the trough is stronger, it could go right toward Japan.
01:50This is where we're going to be waving to Congress.
