00:00There's no fracture in the party right now. What you're seeing really is a disagreement that has become public.
00:08It's really a disagreement over process and what should be done.
00:11I had reported certain activities within San Fernando East that I felt needed to be dealt with in a certain
00:16manner
00:17and initially it was not going that way.
00:20San Fernando East MP Brian Manning as he responded to questions from the media outside of the Red House
00:25before the House of Representatives returned from the Parliament's recess.
00:30But right now we have cleared a path. The executive of San Fernando East that was in question.
00:35They have been forced to resign and that has cleared the way to having free and fair elections in the
00:40constituency at this point in time.
00:42I'm very happy with the process at this point.
00:44We will be monitoring everything that takes place during this process in terms of party groups and also the overall
00:51election.
00:52And if there's any issue then I'll be the first to call it out.
00:55And how does Mr. Manning describe his communication with opposition leader Penelope Beckles?
01:00Very cordial. I've had several meetings with the opposition leader this week.
01:03They all went extremely well and we have really been discussing a way to chart the way forward within the
01:09constituency and party.
01:11TV6 users sought a response from opposition leader Beckles when she spoke with the media outside of the Red House
01:16on Friday.
01:17It's because you and Mr. Manning would have had a one-on-one meeting earlier this week.
01:22Yes.
01:22What was spoken about in the meeting?
01:23Well, I mean, we spoke about, you know, his concerns about San Fernando East, you know, he shared his concerns.
01:32It is not the first time we have met on the issues and also, you know, I made sure we
01:36talked about the process.
01:37The party has a constitution.
01:39We are 70 years old and that there is a process and we will follow the process.
01:45Mr. Manning expressed no regrets.
