Transcript
00:00There are conflicting reports as to what prompted the former FCB chief executive officer's departure from the majority state-owned bank.
00:09But the opposition is demanding answers amid reports that she submitted her resignation to the Ministry of Finance.
00:16Let us ask the government to make it very clear whether or not the CU resigned to the minister in the Ministry of Finance.
00:28We also are aware in the public domain that there is information that the Attorney General was asked to review a package.
00:39First Citizens Bank is under the Companies Act.
00:46The Board of Directors of First Citizens Bank is solely responsible for matters as it relates to employment at the bank.
00:54And this government is clearly giving unto itself powers that it does not possess.
01:01The opposition leader is likening the situation to the recent revocation of the appointment of former Central Bank Governor Dr. Alvin Hilaire.
01:10Now fortunately for the bank at this point in time they have resisted some political pressure.
01:17It is important for us to say to this government to keep your hands off First Citizens Bank.
01:28We know very well that or we need to tell them financial institutions are not playthings.
01:38Investor confidence is built on trust and political interference shatters trust.
01:46The opposition leader is reporting that daily rated workers are among the latest group of workers to report late payment of salaries.
01:56As she notes that First Citizens Bank is performing quite well.
02:00We already know as I stated a while ago that this government is paying late salaries.
02:05We also know the issue of foreign exchange and the challenges.
02:11So please keep your hands off First Citizens Bank.
