00:00In this video I will show you how to block YouTube on Chrome. So I'll be showing you
00:05how to block YouTube on Chrome and restrict access to the website on your computer.
00:10Before we get started, be sure to leave a like, comment below and subscribe to the channel
00:14for more Google Chrome tutorials and easy tech guides. So to do this, what you want to do is
00:20open up a Google Chrome browser. You can see I'm here currently on youtube.com. Once you've done
00:25that, you want to come and click onto the three dots in the top right hand corner. Once you've
00:29done that, hover over the extensions option and in the sub menu, you want to click to visit the
00:34Chrome web store. From here, come to the search box at the top. And in here, you just want to
00:39simply
00:40type block websites, hit enter to give that a search. And you can see there's a number of different
00:45extensions we can use. Now the one I personally use and what I would recommend is this one at the
00:51top,
00:51which is the featured extension by blocksite.theo. So give it a click. That's going to take you to
00:57the extension page. And from here, you want to click onto the blue add to Chrome button.
01:02What that's going to do is open a small window like this. From here, what you need to do is
01:06click
01:06onto add extension. And what it's going to do is just take a minute or two to go through and
01:11install this extension on your Google Chrome browser. So once the extension has been installed,
01:16you're going to see we get this confirmation like this. And what it's going to do is load up and
01:21take you to a dashboard like this. Now to actually use this to block YouTube,
01:25all you want to do is come to youtube.com. So center that into the address bar, come across
01:31to the YouTube website. And once you've done that, what you can then do is come up to the
01:36extensions icon, which is this jigsaw puzzle looking piece just up here. Give it a click
01:40and you should see the block site extensions here. Give that a click. What that's going to do is open
01:45a window like this. And what you want to do first is click, I accept to agree to the privacy
01:50policy.
01:51It might be an add that comes up as well, but you can just click the cross to close this
01:54down.
01:54And then it's going to show this window here. So you can see it says youtube.com
01:58and we got the option here to block this site. So if you click this button, it's going to add
02:03it to your block list, as you can see. And if we now go ahead and refresh YouTube, as you
02:09can see,
02:09we get a screen come up saying youtube.com is blocked. Of course, you can use this extension to
02:14block other websites as well. And if at any point you want to unblock YouTube or any of the websites,
02:20just simply click again onto the extensions icon, click onto the block site extension. And from this
02:25window, you're going to see a button to edit your block list. Give that a click. What that's going
02:30to do is take you to a screen like this. You can just come down to the bottom, click don't
02:35block now,
02:36skip past the sign up. And there is a pay plan as well, but you can just click skip to
02:40limited version.
02:41Once you've done that, you're going to see youtube.com here. And to unblock this, just simply click the
02:45trash can icon to the right hand side. Once you've done that, you're going to see if we come back
02:50to
02:50YouTube, that the YouTube website is now going to be unblocked. So that is how to block YouTube
