00:00In the south-central U.S., we have had no shortage of heat, and there are some thunderstorms out there.
00:05A lot of the action over the next day or two will be mainly in the afternoon.
00:09Some of you are facing some spotty showers, even scattered thunderstorms even right now in the south-central U.S.
00:15The greatest concentration of these on Friday will be a little farther east, but it's staying hot out there as
00:21well.
00:22The heat's still holding. In fact, on Friday, we're going to have some record-breaking heat.
00:26Look at Laredo, Texas, 107. The record high for September 11th was set three times, 1912, 1979, then 26 years
00:35ago again at 104.
00:36We're going to go 107. McAllen, Texas, record high of 103. Just from three years ago, we're going to go
00:41104.
00:42Borger, Texas, backing off of records there, but Roswell, New Mexico should break a record, as should Albuquerque, breaking some
00:49record highs there on Friday afternoon.
00:52Then we'll also see another round of showers and storms for some.
00:55Here you can see this evening, they're going to be a little more widespread in north Texas and southeast Oklahoma,
01:00but we do see a little bit more of a push a little south of I-20 and east tomorrow.
01:05So again, a lot of record highs still within reach with the current pattern.
01:10Saturday and Sunday, then we've got some hot football on Saturday afternoon and evening.
01:15In fact, if we look at the national matchups, the biggest in the nation, Saturday evening in Austin.
01:21We'll take you there in just a moment.
01:23But Saturday, lots of heat in Texas, southeast Oklahoma, some storms east and north and west, but again, a lot
01:29of heat here in the Lone Star State.
01:31And we'll be probably tying a record high for the 12th of September in McAllen, Texas at 103, matching that
01:36in 1987.
01:38Smashing a record high in Roswell, New Mexico.
01:40Borger, Texas, breaking a record high.
01:41El Paso, and Amarillo all easily breaking record highs.
01:45This, among all the college football matchups this weekend, this is the one to watch.
01:51Ohio State at Texas in Austin.
01:54Now, thankfully, it's an evening game, 630 central.
01:57It's going to be real steamy, though.
01:58Really hot even into the evening.
01:59Let's take you to Florida now, where they're getting a brief break after days of rain.
02:04Check out this video from Tampa.
02:06A rainbow shined through storm clouds earlier this week.
02:09Rain will return to the southeast for the weekend.
02:12Nice shot there in Tampa.
