00:00I said early in the show, I'm picking the Browns to beat the Jaguars week one, Sunday,
00:07this coming Sunday, I'm picking the Browns to win.
00:09Will that be the biggest upset of the weekend?
00:12And Lima immediately jumped on me.
00:15And I'm sure a lot of people who, for whatever reason, are tweeting in Lima and not me to
00:18stick it to me.
00:20Are you getting a lot of people saying, of course, same old, sorry, ask Ken.
00:24Is that what they're doing?
00:25Honestly, there was a little bit at the start, but I think people genuinely.
00:28Yeah, they had to go to work, and so now we've got new people to talk to, and they're going
00:31to think I'm full of it, too.
00:32I can explain why I think they're going to win.
00:34I think there is always a zeal, a need for some, not necessarily home cooking, but like,
00:41all right, guys, come on.
00:42The football season's starting.
00:43We don't like the quarterback.
00:45You don't like the quarterback.
00:46But it'd be really cool to celebrate a win and have us on the highlight shows.
00:49I don't like this situation any better than you do.
00:52And to have people talk favorably about our football team and the direction.
00:55Think about it this way.
00:56If they come out and they pull off the upset, nine and a half point underdogs, whatever
01:00they are, and they win, I think people will at least be excited about Todd Munkin, Casey
01:06Concepcion, Boston, Fannin.
01:09Concepcion.
01:10Concepcion.
01:10There's no shh in there.
01:12There's no?
01:12There should be.
01:14I say Concepcion like I say other words, like issue.
01:18Concepcion.
01:18There you go.
01:19Okay.
01:21What were you saying?
01:23That you have a good running game, that the offensive line is clicking, that the defense
01:26doesn't fall off a cliff without Miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz.
01:30It sounds like you're begging them to do all this stuff, though.
01:32But we, but that if they pull off the win, it sounds like you are begging them to do all
01:36these things.
01:37You expect none of it.
01:38And if, and if it happens, what?
01:40But the difference is, I think there's talent to do a lot of that stuff that I just talked
01:43about.
01:44There have been years where I'm like, we don't have the talent to pull off any of that.
01:47So you asked, because you say I pick them to win week one every year.
01:52Yeah.
01:54I will answer you that I think that it's the most likely game that a not so great football
01:59team can win.
02:00I think I treat this like I would a wildcard appearance.
02:03Let it ride.
02:04We'll see where it goes.
02:05One other note.
02:06A team that's made its first wildcard appearance, not like the Bills who were like, this is ridiculous.
02:10We shouldn't even be playing in this game.
02:12Not like that.
02:13One other note, Jeff Tanchek from 19, loyal listener of the show while he's also doing
02:17his reports.
02:18What'd he say?
02:19He said.
02:19He got us on in the background?
02:20He does.
02:21He said.
02:21He's got all the other people listening?
02:23He said it is going to be 90 degrees with a heat index of 100.
02:28Oh my God.
02:31Oh, they'll have the cooling fans down there, right?
02:34They got the pool that you can dip into, right?
02:36Well, you can't go jumping in there with your football equipment on.
02:38That's probably what they're missing.
02:39They need that.
02:40They should have it as an option.
02:41Are they getting rid of the pool when they redo that stadium?
02:44Get rid of that stupid pool.
02:46I think they're going to enlarge it.
02:47I think that'll be a bigger part of the season.
02:49Get rid of that stupid pool.
02:50Or at least, you know what you can do?
02:51At least put up some sort of partition between you and the bottom half of the people that
02:55are in that pool.
02:56We don't need to see any of that stuff.
02:57They're making a swim up red zone.
02:59Well, that actually might be kind of fun.
03:02There's no way in hell I'd ever get in that pool.
03:05You know how many things are filthy in an NFL stadium in the first place and you guys want
03:09to go jumping in that pool?
03:10You're crazy.
03:10Well, where would you rather be?
03:12Would you rather be a dysentery in that pool?
03:14Getting in a brawl in the 500 section or in the pool where everybody seems pretty mellow?
03:19You know what?
03:19I'd rather be in a brawl in the 500 section than be in a pool where I can get syphilis
03:23in Jacksonville.
03:24We have not seen a fight breakout yet in that pool.
03:27There's always a first time.
03:30I'm sure we've seen a fight breakout in the pool.
03:32Anyway, you asked if it affects my credibility.
03:35Yeah.
03:35Ask him again.
03:36Well, I wanted to know if...
03:38Jim and Syracuse said I was crazy.
03:39If every year Ken says, hey, I'm coming around.
03:42I think they're going to win the opener.
03:45I think they're going to win week one.
03:47I don't think they're going to win a bunch of games.
03:50I didn't pick them to win eight games this year and say it was the freaking Shangri-La
03:55of the season the way that Nick did quote-unquote.
03:57But Nick didn't pick them to win the first two games either, so...
04:00So, again, they're going to go 0-2, but somehow the streak to win eight games.
04:03But we're still going to talk about quarterbacks.
04:05Then they're going to go on a roll.
04:07He came on the show this morning, so you guys can go back and use the rewind feature
04:10and listen to that because I still don't understand how we're going to start out 0-2.
04:16And then you're saying that next year we're picking a quarterback, but Shador Sanders
04:21is going to take us to eight wins because if Shador Sanders takes this team to eight wins
04:25after you start out 0-2, I don't think we're talking much about the quarterbacks.
04:30Am I wrong?
04:31It becomes the Baker Mayfield thing all over again.
04:34Why do you want something that you think is better?
04:37It's two in a hand, one in a bush.
04:38We'll do this all over again.
04:40Baker Mayfield had dedicated fans.
04:42Shador Sanders has dedicated fans.
04:44So, to Nick's own logic, and yet he explained it and I was nice to him,
04:48but it still just doesn't make any sense to me.
04:50He says he'll fight people over the offseason about taking a quarterback.
04:54All right, but if Shador Sanders takes this team that I just said has holes,
05:00gaping holes after the starters, and they're going to need these guys.
05:04All right, I'm not talking about week one here.
05:05Put that on the show for just a second.
05:07In week one, a heat index of 100, which Keith is making fun of because it's Florida,
05:11and he says that's every day in Florida.
05:13Well, yeah, but we spend every day in Ohio, and so have the Browns over the last how many weeks?
05:17So, there's not really a lot of time you can spend down in Florida,
05:20unless during the last two and a half weeks when you had the off days,
05:23they all flew down to Florida and just sat there in the heat to maybe acclimate themselves to it,
05:28whether it plays a factor.
05:29And we thank Jeff Tanchek for listening to the show and checking in with us about that.
05:35But, damn it, what I'm pointing out is you don't disagree with, by the way, right?
05:40No.
05:41Okay.
05:41Do you know what I'm asking you about to disagree?
05:44Yeah.
05:45I don't blame you looking over there.
05:472-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
05:49The reason I say they can win week one.
05:51No, excuse me.
05:51The reason I'm picking them to win Sunday.
05:55Yes, part of it has to do with just the odds of week one.
06:00The Raiders, who are the number one overall pick this year?
06:03The Raiders.
06:03The Raiders were terrible.
06:05We beat the Raiders.
06:06We barely had to come up with a game plan.
06:07It was almost like they were trying to lose to us.
06:10The Raiders went out and beat New England week one last year.
06:13Seattle lost week one last year.
06:15You've seen really weird results in early going to the season.
06:17We've seen the Carolina.
06:18I think there was the year the Carolina Panthers went 1-15.
06:21I think they won week one and then proceeded to lose 15 games in a row.
06:25Like, week one is crazy.
06:27And it doesn't really matter the generation.
06:30Week one is a wild card.
06:32So, if they can eliminate, if they do what Todd Munkin is freaking out about,
06:36which is eliminate bleepy football, eliminate pre-snap penalties,
06:41like illegal motions, like things you should know.
06:44Things that you are grown adult football players you guys should know.
06:47We shouldn't be stepping into this.
06:49Like, that was where I'm thinking.
06:51Like, last year, I'm like, they're not paying attention to Kevin anymore.
06:53This is as sloppy as it gets.
06:54I don't care what you're talking about with personnel.
06:56And when I talk about personnel for this game,
06:58they're as healthy as they're going to be this year.
07:00You will start to get unhealthy as this game on Sunday goes on.
07:05So, hopefully, they're able to make it through practice today and tomorrow.
07:08Everything's going to be hunky-dory and just fine with our main players.
07:11But as of right now, what do we got?
07:13We got Tevin Jenkins with a back injury, but he was limited.
07:17Parker Brailsford with a thumb.
07:18He was limited.
07:18Malik Collins, I think, was limited with a quad injury, right?
07:22This is as healthy as they're going to be.
07:24They're all there, yeah.
07:25So, they're all there for you.
07:27It's a chance to get after them.
07:29Maybe, again, I don't know how much zone they're going to play.
07:32I don't know how much band they're going to play.
07:34But I'm telling you, I'm not.
07:36You can put me to the test each and every week if you want to
07:39and put me officially on the mark.
07:41There's going to be a lot of Sundays I just don't pick the Browns
07:44for a plethora of reasons that we haven't even seen yet.
07:47I'm picking the Browns Sunday for all those reasons I just stated.
07:52Yes, you can win, and yes, I think they will.
07:55As long as we run the ball a lot and can run with effectiveness.
08:00Did Ken make the case?
08:02And make second down, not second and 14, second and manageable,
08:04like second and six or second and five.
08:06Did Ken make the case?
08:072-1-6, 4-7-4, double-0-92.
08:09Our quarterback shot puts the football.
08:11I trust him for five yards.
08:12I'm not sure for six.
08:13By the way, just as a quick aside.
08:16A lot of low crossers by our rookies.
08:17I just watched a video yesterday of Baker's last Steeler game.
08:22Was it his last game in a Browns uniform?
08:24And Big Ben was on the other side.
08:27You want to talk about shot putting a football?
08:29I know.
08:29Holy cow, he was so bad.
08:31And we lost that game.
08:33Yeah, we did.
08:34I think they played like Renegade like three times.
08:36I swear I heard Renegade more than once.
08:38It was a bad night.
08:40Real bad night in the office.
08:41And that was the week after the Christmas Day disaster.
08:45The four interceptions.
08:46Was it?
08:47I thought so, yeah.
08:48That was that same year?
08:50I think TJ Watt played like six plays and had four sacks.
08:54Yeah.
08:55Remember, I had a fever because I had COVID because somebody came into the station with COVID
09:01and gave it all to us because he wanted to be a selfish bastard and he gave us all COVID
09:07for Christmas.
09:09So I had to sit there because I wasn't going to sit there and watch him throw four interceptions without
09:13drinking.
09:14So I had a thermometer in one hand and I had a beer in the other and I was taking
09:19my temperature as I drank.
09:23And we're not doing coming in hot tomorrow for obvious reasons.
09:26So don't even start with the gubernatorial race.
09:312-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
09:34Stop laughing.
09:34It ain't funny.
09:36You're laughing.
09:37I was pissed at you that day.
09:38Keep laughing.
09:38Keep laughing.
09:39I didn't do eight hours of radio.
09:41I had a fever.
09:42I had nothing else other than a fever.
09:44Nothing than a fever.
09:45And I'm running about 99 degrees and he starts throwing picks because he just wanted to be the hero that
09:51day.
09:52He just had to be the hero.
09:54Had to do it.
09:54Okay.
09:55We had to deal with Baker's fantasy land.
09:57But then again, we're the ones who were wrong that year.
10:00Okay.
10:00Got it.
10:00I didn't want to move on from him.
10:02So did I talk you into taking the Browns in week one?
10:05Against the Jaguars.
10:06To cover.
10:07How about that?
10:08To cover.
10:08That's not good enough.
10:09They don't care about covering.
10:11Well, originally I thought they were going to get blown out.
10:12Now, I mean, now cover.
10:14Let's go.
10:15You want to get real crazy.
10:17I mean, Kenny, put your money where your mouth is.
10:18I'm not betting on football.
10:19Why would you not?
10:20If you think they're winning the game and they're getting nine and a half points.
10:23I'm not gambling on the Browns.
10:24I'm not gambling in general.
10:25Hell, if I kick off, it's going to be up to 11.
10:26No.
10:27I'm only seeing eight and a half here.
10:29Oh, have I been increasing it every time I mention it?
10:32I start now and then I won't stop.
10:33And then you're going to talk to me like Nicky in Casino about putting the heat on because I've been
10:37betting on the Browns all year.
10:38We do the same thing that he does at the beginning of every year where he increases the win total.
10:42You do the lion.
10:44All right.
10:45Did I talk you into thinking they're going to win on Sunday?
10:48I'm not trying to do some sort of a weird thing.
10:51I sincerely believe the Browns will win on Sunday.
10:54I won't guarantee it because we know what happens when I guarantee things.
10:58I burst blood vessels in my face.
11:00But I sincerely believe that they're going to win.
11:02Amen.
