00:06OTA's done training camp over preseason games they're a thing of the past the Giants are on
00:12the clock for their prime time home and season opener against the Dallas Cowboys new year new
00:18G-man or same old Giants this is your Blue Rush season preview from the New York Post sports
00:24let's bring in our long time Giants beat writer for the post Paul Schwartz going into year
00:3435 I think 34 you're a vested you are you are a vested vet right there Paul
00:42yes uh yeah I mean I you know when I see things like you know Aaron Rodgers and you know
00:50that's Matthew Stafford all these guys getting 40 or 38 39 I'm like hey let these old guys keep me
00:57keep me in the game as long as they can do the job keep me the game right um um
01:01yeah a few more gray
01:02hairs here and there I would say but um you know what if I say that it's the same old
01:06Giants then
01:07we can end the show right now because it's not the same old Giants we know that right now right
01:13we know
01:13well new faces across the board obviously within the coaching staff uh Matt Nagy is in charge of
01:21Jackson Dart's year two development and we'll start this off with does Jackson Dart from everything
01:28we've seen from the spring to the summer to what we didn't see in the preseason with you know he
01:34not
01:34playing that much does he have enough weapons and can he be protected enough for the Giants offense
01:40to be a real threat this season you know it's funny Brandon you asked the question without
01:47asking maybe the most important question is Jackson Dart good enough right you're saying okay is he
01:53going to be protected does he have the weapons okay those are legitimate questions but those are
01:58legitimate questions when you have a quarterback who's proven right and you say okay we know what he
02:02can do let's see if there's enough around him okay uh will he be protected I think he'll be protected
02:08yes I think he'll be protected quite well for the five starters on the offensive line was back I mean
02:14it's not a dominating offensive line but it was uh I think it was like a just around top 9
02:1910 11
02:20offensive line that was light years better than the past I think uh the rookie CeCe Maui Noah
02:25right guard will be an upgrade maybe he'll have some rookie hiccups along the way but I think he's
02:29going to be a really good player pretty quickly so I like the offensive line I like that the offensive
02:34lines depth so I think Jackson Dart should be pretty secure there weapons I think they want to
02:42be a running team first so does he have enough running backs he has enough running backs does he
02:46have a star running back he does not I don't think Cam Scadaboo is a starter but I think a
02:50one-two punch
02:51of Cam and Najee Harris probably be okay and then we'll see what else happens after that um tight ends
02:57excellent I think you know Isaiah likely makes a big difference wide receivers Malik neighbors better be
03:02great uh maybe not from week one because I don't think he'll be ready for full-time action week one
03:07he needs to be great because there's not a lot of other greatness there at all um is Jackson Dart
03:12good
03:12enough we shall see right he was darn promising as a rookie I think you would agree right he looked
03:18he looked really good as a rookie I think all the stuff with him sliding and running out of bounds
03:24and taking too many hits and medical tent I think that stuff is really going to be mitigated this year
03:30he was a rookie rookies do things like that they're headstrong they have to get that first down
03:35they have to you know slide head first I think this coaching staff will be more demanding to him to
03:41clean up your act and stay on the field so I think he will and now we'll see if his
03:45skill set and if
03:46his moxie and if his arm strength and his mobility all that stuff is good enough to be a winning
03:52quarterback that's what he has to be he has to be a winning quarterback not a star quarterback well I
03:57thought that was given that's why I left that out in terms of is Jackson Dart good enough I think
04:02I think he showed enough last year to where I can put him as a top 15 quarterback in this
04:07league and
04:08I think he's still ascending I mean that's fine but I mean if you see most things that say let's
04:15list
04:15the top quarterbacks one to 32 I don't think he's in the 15 of anybody's I mean not anybody's but
04:21most consensus is he's not in 15 and I don't know if I would put him there now anyway it
04:27doesn't
04:27matter right it doesn't matter where we put him now it's a matter of where we put him at the
04:31end
04:31of the year and is he a winner yeah I mean I'm he's very promising but I don't think going
04:38into year
04:38two you can check okay they have their quarterback we think they have their quarterback I'm not ready
04:44to say that I'm really not Brandon now I agree with you I'm bullish on him right if he was
04:49a stock
04:49I would buy him but we have to see it we have to see it you know he has to
04:55do it and I'm not
04:57concerned about the great plays because like his touch you know he how many he was on the field for
05:03just a handful of plays in a preseason right one of them was an unbelievable touchdown throw to
05:09Malachi Fields right I mean it was a special play it was special the way he reversed pivoted he he
05:15he
05:16improvised he made a throw where only the very tall receiver could get it great play I'm not worried
05:22about that I think he'd make the great plays can he make the plays the boring plays the the third
05:28and
05:29sevens the um it's third and 12 okay you know to get eight yards run off the field don't put
05:34the ball
05:35in harm's way can he do the little things series after series to get your team down the field in
05:42field
05:42goal range and to score touchdowns if you can do that I think the team is good enough he doesn't
05:46have to be I mean Phil Sims was not a great quarterback for a long time Eli Manning was not
05:52a great quarterback in year two yet they won what 10 11 games so be a winning quarterback and then
05:57see
05:58how much you know if you have greatness in you that will show up at some point the reason why
06:03I'm
06:04holding my breath or I think he'll be 50 50 per se when it comes to making the boring play
06:10because
06:11on a third and 12 and he scrambles and he tries to fit some ball into a tight window I
06:17think he does
06:17that not because he's feeling himself as Jackson Dart but he has identified that they've went out
06:24there and they've got me some weapons if he's trying to fit that ball into an Isaiah Likely I'm okay
06:29with
06:29that throw into a Malachi Fields who we've seen throughout the course of spring and training camp I'm
06:35okay with that throw and of course uh Malik Neighbors you have to make that throw or try and
06:40fit that in there because of how great Malik Neighbors can be I'm okay with those type throws
06:46but if you're maybe trying to fit it into a Theo Johnson or you're trying to to fit it I
06:51don't
06:51I mean I'll put Odell in with that first group as well if he's trying to make uh if he's
06:57trying to
06:57make a spectacular play to a spectacular player I'm okay with that but if he's trying to do too much
07:03to where he's trying to again trying to take on a linebacker 15 16 yards down the field or he
07:09tries
07:09to make some ill-advised throw in the red zone um on some like special play or gimmick type play
07:15then he hasn't learned his lesson but I think they've put enough weapons around this kid for him
07:20it's going to be on him but I think he's got enough now to where we can see some sort
07:26of Drake May type
07:27jump in year two now the biggest question a lot of people have had in his development is the X's
07:37and O's picking up this new offense and some were worried or within the big three of offensive
07:44coaches and Matt Nagy Greg Roman and Brian Callahan would there be too many cooks in the
07:50kitchen whose offense is it if things go if if Matt Nagy in this offense struggles early do they make
07:56some sort of switch from everything you've seen everything you've heard do you feel like that big
08:04three can get it done on the X's and O's standpoint of this Giants offense you know it's funny you
08:11mentioned that because what happened in the last preseason game right it's like wait was that Brian
08:16Callahan the quarterback's coach calling plays and John Harbaugh said yeah he was calling the plays
08:21thought we'd switch it up a little bit and I think Harbaugh was having some fun with us you know
08:25what I
08:25mean I thought I'd switch it up a little bit and it's like whoa is this is he not happy
08:29with Matt
08:29Nagy the offense coordinator is he you know Brian Callahan has been a play caller and he's been a
08:33head coach it was just no that's you know around the league they let I think didn't Jordan Love
08:40Jordan Love called plays for the Packers yeah right so I mean that's what you do in the third
08:45preseason game a lot of times you let you know position coaches or you let maybe the backup quarterback
08:50or the starting quarterback call play so that that that was fun it's a new offense Brandon we've
08:56talked about this it's not like and and I think that could work to the Giants advantage if if they
09:02can execute it properly because the Cowboys can't go into this and say just like just let's let's see
09:08what the Chiefs did and we'll we'll study that because that's what Nagy's going to bring you can't
09:12do that because it's not the Chiefs it's not it's it's some of Greg Roman's run game stuff from the
09:17the Ravens it's some of Brian Callahan's stuff from the Titans and it's a lot of John Harbaugh's
09:24belief system from 18 years with the Ravens I mean there's a lot of Harbaugh in this offense
09:29there really is Nagy didn't have a a a 300 pound fullback you know Harbaugh wants a 300 pound fullback
09:38so they signed Patrick Ricard and he's in this offense right now but I think we can't minimize the
09:44fact that this is a new offense and the best thing about year number two for a quarterback is what
09:50continuity you're in the same system two years in a row what have they done to Jackson Dart right
09:57what did John Marris say about Daniel Jones we've done everything possible to screw this kid up by
10:02changing by changing coordinators by changing head coaches and by having a lousy offensive line okay
10:09he's got a good offensive line Jackson Dart what have they done to help him they have a new head
10:14coach a new offensive coordinator a new quarterbacks coach and a brand new system that doesn't help him
10:20now it'll help him at some point if it's a really good offense so I think we have to remember
10:25it's a
10:25new offense and it might not look great from day one because everyone is better the second year in
10:33an offense and this is the first year for Jackson Dart that's a big part of this here's my my
10:39thoughts
10:39on Callahan calling plays I understand why they did it and yeah you have the fun with it he's been
10:44a
10:44play caller uh in the NFL very harmless and again quarterbacks coach he's well respected in the locker
10:51room well respected around the league but this New York media if things go bad things go sour they
10:57could always go back to that game and be like see the seed was planted there he was unhappy Harbaugh
11:04was unhappy with Nagy and and where how far the offense was coming along by preseason game number
11:11three so they test have you been looking over my shoulder you've been looking over my shoulder to
11:16see what I'm writing you know you already I've been around the beat long enough not so much your
11:21shoulder is of other people's shoulders within the beat and you know what else though Brandon which is
11:26true don't you get the sense and you know hopefully a lot of fans will be watching this right fans
11:32are
11:32not into Matt Nagy I get that sense fans are didn't love the hire they would have loved a Munkin
11:39they
11:39would love Todd Munkin if he came right and he would have been the offensive coordinator except
11:43the Brown surprised everybody and named him their head coach nobody really saw that coming you know
11:48Munkin was with Harbaugh with the Ravens they he wanted to bring him to the Giants he couldn't get the
11:52chance he got offered a head coaching job so I think fans also are skeptical of Matt Nagy so
11:58I agree media yes but also if they struggle for a game or two I think a lot of the
12:04fans are going to
12:04be like we were right we don't like this guy who's next who's next who's next so it's definitely
12:10something to watch the thing with Nagy though I think fans I think they have to realize his hands
12:15are tied as an offensive coordinator because you have a coach a successful head coach who has a
12:21mentality on what he wants for his scheme on offense you said it wants to run the football
12:27Andy Reid out in Kansas City they want to run first team their running backs played second fiddle to
12:35obviously the quarterback the tight end and you know the Hollywood Browns and the Rasheed Rices
12:40and the receivers that made big plays for them I think that kind of ties Matt Nagy's hands a little
12:48bit
12:49as a guy who coming from that Kansas City Chiefs tree coaching tree offensive schemes wants to go a
12:56little bit more empty wants to wants to spread the football out a little bit more go 11 personnel so
13:02I mean we'll see that's something to keep an eye out on but I think the best thing the Giants
13:06could
13:07have done this year was taking everybody's phones from West Virginia to where they couldn't film the
13:13competitive periods because you see the reports on defensive coaches saying yeah we we we scoured the
13:19internet for fan videos to see protection schemes and routes and how we could stop that it's all
13:27about gaining an advantage so it's going to be anxious to see I'm really anxious to see what this
13:31big three of offensive coaches come up with and how Jackson Dart responds let's flip it to the defensive
13:38side of the football and we can stay on the coaching right now when it comes to talking about the
13:44defense because we're going to know and we're going to know early if Shane Bowen former defensive
13:50coordinator was the problem Denard Wilson comes in new scheme new dream I've heard nothing but good
13:58things from the players about coach Wilson and the way that he not only coaches but he teaches and the
14:05way he wants them to attack specifically with the with the corners but I ask you Paul
14:13is this because you're only as good as your pass rush when it comes to this defense
14:19is this pass rush only good on paper or could this be a top five pass rush in the NFL
14:30you're only as good as your pass rush is if you make the team pass the ball that you know
14:35what I
14:36mean and and and and just like the Giants want to be a running team you know I think teams
14:40are going
14:40to come out and look and say the Giants were 31st in the league in rushing yeah rush defense last
14:45year
14:46now they don't have Dexter Lawrence prove to us you can stop us you know and prove to us um
14:51you know
14:51DJ Reader's a good player Shelby Harris a good player but that's the big question can they stop the run
14:56the pass rush should be good and could be great um Brian Burns is is is you know he had
15:03a career
15:04year last year I don't think he's gonna have 16 and a half sacks again this year I just you
15:08know
15:08that's a that's a hard number to maintain uh Kayvon Thibodeau is what he is at this point he's a
15:14good
15:14player and he's good at a lot of things but I don't think he is a elite pass rusher I
15:20never have
15:21he's a good player but I don't think he's an elite pass rusher um the wild card in all this
15:27is Abdul
15:27Carter is Abdul Carter now you know what did we hear last year at this time Abdul Carter is unblockable
15:33he was unblockable in training camp um he was unblockable a lot of times this year in training
15:39camp now the job is to be unblockable starting September 13th is he that kind of player um he has
15:46potential to be great you know we've seen it you've seen it that bend that first step that
15:51explosiveness I mean he's got he's got he's got a nasty disposition on the field now he's got he's
15:57got the rookie year under his belt he had four sacks he had some maturity issues right some some
16:03you know getting uh attending to business and the job issues uh those hopefully are behind him and is he
16:09just going to get to work and uh this summer that's what he was all about um will he do
16:14it you know will
16:14he do it you know I mean there's a lot of players you know the the the the fields are
16:19littered with
16:20players who have great potential and they don't live up to it he has great potential if he's great
16:25and in the New York Post uh season preview that'll be out soon in our special section here's a preview
16:31right for most important defensive defensive player I put Abdul Carter because now you could say
16:38one of the cornerbacks is most important or Arvel Reese or Brian Burns how could he not be the
16:44most important I know what Brian Burns is I think I know what Kayvon Thibodeau is I don't know what
16:48Abdul Carter is really I know what I think he can be so he's their most important defensive player at
16:54the end of this season if you look down the line and he has a tremendous amount of games played
16:59and
16:59he's got tremendous production and deflected passes and double digit sacks and all kinds of pressures
17:06then this pass rush is going to be really really good and they're going to need them because going into
17:12this season there are a lot of people still questioning how good this secondary can be and
17:17if you've got a top tier pass rush you're able to get away with some things when it comes to
17:23uh your secondary potentially or how good your secondary can potentially be Javon Holland has to
17:30have a big year Tyler Newbin has to show up what are we going to get from Paulson the D
17:34Bowl Greg Newsom
17:35the second he's looked like he he could be a guy for them a definite starter I feel like he's
17:40earned
17:41a starting job and then Taye Banks Colton Hood who's going to be that guy going into this season
17:48particularly early in this season going up against the wideouts that they're going to be going up
17:53against Paul are you looking at the secondary as a liability or an asset um those are two strong
18:01words it's I don't I'm not putting them as an asset right now I think it's a potential liability
18:07you know ass ability ass ability a possibility to be a liability okay um um look the cornerback
18:16is it room is interesting but is there a number one cornerback I mean Paulson the Devo supposed to be
18:22number one he has not played like that I'm not even sure he's going to start on opening night I
18:26mean
18:26how mind-boggling would it have been if I told you a few months ago I think Deontay Banks is
18:31going to
18:31beat out Paulson a Devo you're like was Taye Banks that great Taye Banks had a really good summer but
18:38he should not be beating out Paulson a Devo for the number one cornerback spot you know and and I
18:42do
18:42think Greg Newsom Greg Newsom didn't play at all in the final preseason games that tells me I mean he
18:47I think he's going to start now let me ask you because you were on this team did Corey Webster
18:53and
18:53Aaron Ross ever make a Pro Bowl no um they were they were the two starting cornerbacks on a Super
19:01Bowl winning defense correct well Sam Madison on the outside but but Ross was the nickel Ross was the
19:07nickel or yeah yeah so yes yeah okay did Sam Madison make a Pro Bowl that year not that year
19:13no I don't
19:13believe anyone in the secondary did but we had a very strong secondary that made some big plays
19:19and some big moments of some really big games I think everyone will agree to that no question
19:26they worked together with the front group that was outstanding yes you know what I mean so look
19:31we know in this league if you make guys cover three four five seconds it's not going to work it's
19:37just
19:37not going to work the quarterbacks are good the receivers are good the tight ends are good the backs
19:41are good it's not going to work so back then the OCs and the Strahans and the Tucks and the
19:46JPPs
19:48they they made the they made them look better they just made the defensive backfield look better
19:53um so I'm not saying you have to have a star-studded Pro Bowl laden you know you don't have
19:58to have the
19:58Legion of Boom back there you don't but I think I can give you a question at safety with Tyler
20:04Newbin
20:04what is he you know is he kind of an in-the-box guy you know he was an incredible
20:09ball hawk at University
20:10of Minnesota he doesn't get near the ball now you know he doesn't get his hands on the ball much
20:14at all
20:15so could he be that kind of guy Javon Holland he had a okay first year with the Giants I
20:21think
20:21he's capable of more he's a good communicator can he be a you know a top player that's what they
20:27paid
20:27him for so I think there are questions you know who's who's the best nickelback on the team is it
20:32Drew Phillips is it you know is it Washington I don't know I don't know so I think there are
20:38questions at every level um fewer questions certainly I mean we didn't even talk about
20:44inside linebacker I don't think there are any questions at inside linebacker um I think the
20:48inside linebacker position is potentially the best on the team and that's unbelievable for where it came
20:53from last year last year was Bobby Okereke, Micah McFadden and Darius Mewisau right now it's you know
20:59Okereke just signed with the Panthers Mewisau was just cut and um McFadden who's a good player is now
21:06a backup because they recruited over him with Tremaine Edmonds and Arbel Reese so that's that's
21:11how you build a position group yeah my thing for the secondary just turn locate the football if you
21:19could do that you're going to have the ability to to be pretty solid be pretty good out there
21:24because the last thing you want to see is Abdul one of these guys get some sort of pressure
21:28a Dak or a Matthew Stafford just throws the football up there they don't locate it and then there goes
21:34a
21:3515-yard penalty instead of some sort of incompletion or even a possible turnover that gets them off
21:41the football field do not have these cheap penalties to extend drives now let's look ahead a little
21:46bit Paul this is what the people want I absolutely hate predictions what's up buddy
21:54there's my son right there he's got the the Spider-Man Brian Burns shirt right there we're going to do
21:58a
21:58little prediction action come on up here man come on up here while we do that uh I'm gonna name
22:04the
22:04first four games of the season Paul you tell me what you think and then we're just we'll keep rolling
22:08you ready Cowboys Rams Titans Cardinals what you thinking 4-0 next okay no okay
22:19um look we just talked about the defensive backfield right yep are they going to be tested are they going
22:25to be tested those first two games first three Cardinal Tate and Wondell Robinson and Calvin Ridley
22:30with Tennessee well okay with with a yes okay but Cam Cam Cam Ward is not Dak Prescott or Matthew
22:39Stafford okay so yes I know you can do that every week but well I think getting a split the
22:44first two
22:45games would be legendary for the Giants legendary um and I think beating the Rams is going to be really
22:50hard so and and you do it does lessen up Titans and Cardinals two home games one o'clock games
22:59I'm going to be conservative there and say two and two out of those first four next four will be
23:05on
23:05the road against the Commanders at home against the Saints on the road against the Texans on the road
23:11again against the Eagles so that's three road games one at home and and between the Texans and the Eagles
23:17is a bye early bye this year right after seven games we used to buys very late so very late
23:23you
23:23can look at it and say you know what the heck is this team going to be on November 1st
23:28that's the
23:28bye um look the Commanders are a team they have to beat you know at the games in in Washington
23:35uh
23:35Saints are a team at home that they need to beat Texans are good I mean Texans Texans are good
23:41I mean
23:41you know they they they crashed and burned in the playoffs but they won 12 games last year
23:45yeah they're good yes they did that's a defensive front man that is a defensive front yes you better
23:50eat your weakness of that offensive line and at Philly I mean that's you know I've driven into
23:55the link too many times and just seen you know the carnage that followed you know I know the Giants
23:59beat them at MetLife Stadium they don't beat them at the link very often I'm gonna I'm gonna say
24:04two and two out of those four games you know I I think you know you don't win every game
24:11you know
24:11oh I think they can beat the Commanders I think they can beat the Saints um yeah they can but
24:15you
24:15don't win every game you know it's the margins are too small so and the Texans are gonna be hard
24:20to beat and the Eagles so two and two two and two out of those four games I think is
24:25optimistic so
24:25you have them four and four coming out of the bye then they host the Commanders at home November 12th
24:31the Jags come into town you go to Indy and then the Niners come into town so four and four
24:38three home games one away game what are you thinking for and and winnable games winnable games
24:46look every every opponent is looking at the Giants and saying winnable winnable games that's the way
24:50it is now I don't know what these teams are I think I know what the Commanders are I think
24:54they're
24:54a mid-level team I mean the Jaguars had a great year last year are they a great are they
24:58are they
24:59a bona fide playoff team every year with that oh by the way uh the coach of the um Jaguars
25:06where
25:07did he go to school UMass UMass let's go I knew did you play at UMass too played at UMass
25:16caught a
25:17lot of touchdowns from Liam Cohen from the from the head coach of the Jaguars time to grow but
25:21while we take a little break here all right while we take this Rutgers so how much money did they
25:25get
25:25to go to Rutgers and lose to Rutgers 1.55 they got so now they can stop calling me asking
25:32me for
25:32money there's 1.55 there you go you can have that buy buy yourself a new uh buy some stuff
25:39some
25:39football when is the last time you were happier about a UMass football game when we beat Montana
25:45in the semifinals to go to the national championship that was the last time I was I was happy that
25:51was
25:51great great one for the program you imagine being a Rutgers fan and thinking like okay now we got to
25:56go play in the big 10 soon it's gonna be rough okay well we digress right but I'm just saying
26:01I don't
26:01know what the Jaguars are I don't know what the Colts are you know and and that's gonna be you
26:06know
26:06that's at Indy Daniel Jones I already hear the cliches coming from Daniel Jones right just another
26:13game I I love my time with the Giants I have great respect for the Marantish families I'm not looking
26:18for revenge and then he's gonna turn the camera off and he's gonna be I want to beat those guys
26:23so
26:23I want to beat those guys so badly so badly um so I think that but I think that's a
26:30stretch where
26:31let's see and what are the 49ers they're they're a really good team that's incredibly damaged right
26:37yeah um I think I'm going two and two again you see a pattern here I think I'm going two
26:44and two
26:45again that's all six so we're at six and six going before they go on the road to Seattle
26:51they host the Browns they go on the road to Detroit then they go on the road to Dallas and
26:59then they host the Eagles last game of the season so it goes the last five they're six and six
27:04how do they close how do you I guess predict because we can't but how do you predict that
27:10they could possibly close out the season the last five games well I trust John Harbaugh to have teams
27:16finish stronger you know I just do now some Ravens fans will say have you been watching you know they
27:22haven't always finished strong but okay I mean I I think this this team has built to to for the
27:29long
27:29haul I really do with all these hard practices so I think they can win three of the last five
27:34games
27:34I do now you know we never know the last two games maybe the Cowboys and Eagles aren't playing for
27:41much you know I mean maybe you can steal a game because they're not playing for much maybe the Eagles
27:44have they clinched already so you never know that I think the Browns the game they have to win at
27:48Seattle is you know I mean at this point it looks like it you know a game that's almost impossible
27:55to win but maybe maybe the maybe uh Sam Darnold's hurt by then I mean you know you never know
28:00you
28:00never know what these things but that is a tough place to play we know that and at the Lions
28:04you do
28:05you have a really really good handle on the Lions you know other than I don't know what their defense
28:10is going to be I know the offense is going to light it up and score some points but defensively
28:15they don't scare anybody the Giants should have beaten them last year absolutely absolutely they
28:20had to game one so let's see how good you are at math I'm giving them three of the last
28:25five wins
28:25what does that add up to nine and eight I think that's what I'm going to pick I think that's
28:31optimistic
28:32um I don't think it's crazy you know if it's eight and nine would I be surprised no seven and
28:38ten
28:38doesn't sound seven and ten sounds like a losing record you know I mean you know eight and nine
28:45sounds like you're 500 except you had to play an extra game so we'll see we'll see but I think
28:50that's kind of what they are I'm going 10 and 7 I'm going a healthy 10 and 7 it may
28:54be a lot
28:55I think this is a year that the football gods can kind of favor them a bit like you you
29:00just see it
29:01like look at Brian Dable's first year when they came in and they just they made a run they played
29:06together they made a run I know the schedule was was pretty weak but just different things
29:12happened throughout the course of the NFL season and I'm hoping I'm banking on that that Harbaugh
29:17magic I'm banking on the Harbaugh effect to where now when we get in that second half of the season
29:22and we're looking at the Jags you're looking at the Colts and 49ers they're not the big bad 49ers
29:29that we would usually we wouldn't look at that game like we would look at it what was it last
29:36year when they took over MetLife Stadium we won't look at that Lions game like we won't look at the
29:42Lions in that same manner and then those last two games against the Cowboys and the Eagles they could
29:48be must-have must-win games but you saw what John Harbaugh and the Ravens were able to do the
29:55very last
29:55game of the season to knock the Steelers out and for them to go to the playoffs so like you
30:01said
30:01I think this team if they stay healthy they were able to do that during camp with 10 practices and
30:0711 days they've had a relatively healthy camp outside of losing Calvin Austin III I know playing
30:14a football game is something completely different but I don't I don't I I like the coordinator on the
30:22defensive side of the football I'm still waiting to see what the offense can look like but I think
30:26there's weapons there and then when we get down to that coaching effect winning those games winning
30:33or losing by one possession I'm gonna go with the Harbaugh I'm all in I'm all in at the for
30:40on that
30:40Harbaugh magic so I'm gonna go a healthy 10 and 7 on this season look you both our records are
30:47are
30:48putting them in a position that they have not been you know since 2022 but really you know that was
30:54an anomaly that they haven't been in more than a decade you know pretty much so here's the thing
30:59you can look at the season in holidays right Labor Day it starts up Labor Day right then you have
31:04Halloween then you have Thanksgiving then you have Christmas and then you have New Year's right
31:08that's that's that's holiday chunks right right there Labor Day is a time of great optimism
31:15right for most teams um Halloween should be kind of like okay what what are we here too often
31:21Halloween the season's been over clown costumes the season's been over right yeah you know it that's it
31:28you have nothing to play for so if they get you to Halloween now you're in good shape now if
31:34they get
31:34you to Thanksgiving the Giants have been totally out of it by Thanksgiving now if they get you to
31:38Thanksgiving now it's getting cold right you're putting on your beanie you're putting on your stuff
31:43you can't wear those jorts or those short whatever you those long pants or short shorts that you wear
31:48right free free the ankle free the ankle free the right your ankles have to be covered up a little
31:53bit right maybe put some Uggs on getting a little cool are you in it are they in it are
31:59they are they
31:59not even are they are they in the hunt right in the hunt you know at some point right the
32:04NFL starts
32:05putting up the graphics right yeah yeah the playoffs started today these teams would be in these
32:10teams would be these teams would win a division these teams would be the wild card these teams
32:13are in the hunt and then you had over here either they didn't list the Giants or they were not
32:19just
32:20how long can the Giants be in the hunt be in the hunt can they get the Thanksgiving in the
32:25hunt
32:25that it's and now it's exciting you're in the hunt okay you may not be the favorite to win it
32:31but
32:31you're a game out of the last wild card spot you're two games out you have a game you know
32:36you're in by
32:37one game you have a game coming up you think you can win maybe we can vault now you're watching
32:41the
32:41other games and the other teams but if they can help us out you know all this stuff that hasn't
32:47been a part of the Giants you know their fans mindsets then you got Christmas and you got and
32:52you got New Year so that's that's the bonus you know if you're playing for meaningful games there
32:56so both our records would indicate that they'll be playing meaningful games through Thanksgiving and
33:01maybe into Christmas and that's not all you can ask but that's a lot that's a lot that you can
33:07give to fans for the season they'd absolutely love it fan base deserves it everyone is just sitting on
33:13pins and needles waiting for this season to start I hate this week zero of the NFL season where there's
33:19just nothing going on but practices as we get ready for the real preparation for week one primetime
33:26football Sunday night September 13th at MetLife Stadium be there be square Giants take on the
33:34Cowboys this was your Blue Rush season preview for the New York Post sports for Paul Schwartz I'm
33:41going back into London thank you guys for watching another episode of Blue Rush
