00:00Get to a little 15 minutes of game day uncensored here on FM 104.3.
00:07Oh, you almost tried to use the big voice.
00:09FM 104.3.
00:13He's got a great voice, though.
00:15It's brought to you by the Lexus TX.
00:17Experience amazing at your Lexus dealer.
00:21As Game Nonsense will be back for week one, of course, of the NFL season.
00:26As we are closing in, we are 11 days away from Dolphins football.
00:31Mercifully.
00:34Goosies.
00:35Football.
00:36Yeah, that's good.
00:39Do you still have goosies for the start of the season, even though you're a team?
00:43Yeah.
00:44Always.
00:45Yeah, it's like ritual, you know?
00:46It just feels good.
00:49I kind of knew my rookie year we weren't going to be good.
00:52There were some identifying features.
00:57When a preseason game, when three of your guys smoking cigarettes.
01:04Yeah.
01:07Jordan Brooks yesterday, he was asked about the Dolphins being overlooked this year.
01:12And this is what he had to say, the Dolphins linebacker.
01:17Yeah, I mean, I don't think we have a choice, honestly.
01:20I don't think there's one outlet on social media, anybody that's got us picked to win anything.
01:27You know what I mean?
01:27Not that it matters, but it's just what it is.
01:30I don't think any of our opponents would respect us.
01:33You know what I mean?
01:34So, 100% underdog mindset.
01:37And I think that's always the best position to be in.
01:40You know what I mean?
01:42And so, we're going to carry that mindset into the season and have that us-against-the-world mentality and,
01:47you know, do our best to win football games.
01:50I mean, the Raiders have to respect them, right?
01:52They're still the Raiders.
01:53The Raiders got to show some reason.
01:55I mean, they can't DeSoto the Dolphins, can they?
01:57Here's the problem.
01:59The problem with all this is that all the other teams that we're assuming are going to be in the
02:05same boat as the Dolphins have some identifiable pieces, right, to let you or lead you to believe that they
02:19have a better team.
02:20For example, you look at what the Raiders have.
02:24You look at what the Jets have, right?
02:28But the Raiders, if you look at the faces of their team, right, it's like it's Brock Bowers.
02:34It's Max Crosby.
02:36On defense, the Dolphins don't have anybody as good as Max Crosby.
02:38Wait, but what about Bowers?
02:43I said Bowers already.
02:44Oh, you said Bowers.
02:45You don't think Ashton Gentry is like...
02:48I mean, the Dolphins running back...
02:50The Dolphins running back is better.
02:52Yeah, Achan's a better running back than Jensie.
02:54Yeah.
02:55At least now, right now.
02:56Maybe Jensie gets into that.
02:57I know he was a monster pick, but right now, Devon Achan's a better player.
03:01I mean, is that debatable?
03:04No, no, no, no, no.
03:05Not at all.
03:06I'm not debating it.
03:07I would just say that if you ask about those two rosters, a lot of people would say that...
03:18The Raiders have...
03:20I won't say better, but I would say more reliable, more of a roster where you at least know what
03:32you're getting.
03:33I think the thing that scares the Dolphins is they have so many young guys that you just
03:37don't know.
03:38And that's the terrifying part.
03:40I think that the idea that the Dolphins, you know, their guys are good.
03:45I think the only...
03:46If you were to look at the Dolphins and say, like, who's elite on the team?
03:49It's Achan, it's your center, and probably Brooks, which are not like the sexiest.
03:56At least the Raiders' two elite guys are a, you know, a touchdown producer and a guy who
04:04gets sacks.
04:04And those are sexier.
04:07Nobody wants to say their most elite players are center.
04:11That's not...
04:12No disrespect.
04:15I mean...
04:16Yeah, but you at least...
04:19Like...
04:20So if I told you right now, and let's do it this way.
04:26Who has the most reliable roster?
04:32Being that things that you know what you can get from certain players.
04:37Right?
04:38Do we...
04:40We have more faith in Kirk Cousins than Malik Willis, and I would rather have Malik Willis.
04:46Yeah, because I think Kirk Cousins is washed.
04:49Right.
04:49If you talk about Kirk Cousins years ago, I mean, that's a different...
04:52That's a different story.
04:53The guy who's made more money than anybody?
04:55Oh, very, very rich.
04:57Very rich.
05:00So, like, I...
05:02And I've said this, you know, during all the camp, is that the reason why people say
05:08the Dolphins aren't going to be good is not because the players aren't going to be good.
05:14It's because there's so much uncertainty with how these players are going to respond and play.
05:21Also, they're a one-layer team.
05:26So, once you get into the second and third units, the rotational guys, they have nothing.
05:32So, that's why people are saying...
05:34But their frontline talent, as you see, you know, even with the young wide receivers.
05:43Right?
05:44Like, there's some talent there.
05:47But just the unknown of it all is why people are saying what they're saying.
05:52Yeah.
05:53I think that if...
05:54I think the thing is, like, this is...
05:56It's probably a good first game, even being on the road, because it is like, look...
06:02If they don't show themselves well against the Raiders, I don't really know what teams you're going to feel confident
06:08going into.
06:10Because this is as soft an opening for an unknown team with a lot of young guys and guys feeling
06:19themselves.
06:19This is about as good as you could ask for if you're Jeff Halfley.
06:23You know?
06:24Like, yeah, there's going to be some...
06:25I mean, there's still some tests.
06:27Don't get me wrong.
06:27But that's the thing.
06:29It's like, if the Dolphins were...
06:30You know, if the Dolphins had to open up against the Seattle Seahawks, like, oof.
06:34You know, oof.
06:36Could have been...
06:36Or the Rams.
06:38Right.
06:38Somebody like that.
06:39That's a tough opening job.
06:42But, on the other end of it, like, I think if you can't show yourself to be respectable the first
06:47week, it's like, no one's going to have faith the rest of the season.
06:51That you're going to be able to do that against anybody.
06:53So, yeah, I get what Jordan Brooks is saying.
06:55He's right.
06:56Like, no one believes in them.
06:57Nobody really...
07:00They don't really have any reason to believe in you right now.
07:03Right.
07:04No, I get it.
07:05You know, and I think everybody's saying that.
07:09Um, simply because of the unknown.
07:13Right?
07:14And, like, yeah, there's a lot not to know.
07:18Uh, especially with this team and these young players.
07:22Um, first of all, a lot of things that happen with young players is when you get to the middle
07:26of the season, they start fading.
07:28Um, so, yeah, I, like, I see the talent and I see some abilities from some of these young players.
07:38I was a little bit discouraged.
07:41The one thing that I would say about the Dolphins preseason, and one thing I was really discouraged about, is
07:49the offensive line, as big and as strong and as powerful as they were built, got pushed around a little
07:57bit at times.
07:58Now, keep in mind, it was a top-tier defense.
08:02A lot of passports, yeah.
08:04Right.
08:05But, but that's what, you know, you got to get that together.
08:09And you can fix that, not with talent, but with coordination and working together.
08:14You want an over-under?
08:17I would say it's four and a half if it drops.
08:19I wasn't going wins.
08:20I was going to go stats.
08:22Sure.
08:22Malik Willis.
08:23All right, Malik Willis for the season.
08:26Uh, let me guess.
08:27I'd say 3,000 yards and 21 touchdowns.
08:32Uh, the, the, the over-under on yards you're pretty close by.
08:35It was, uh, 2,925 is his line.
08:39Uh-huh.
08:392,925 and a half is his line for the season.
08:44Passing yards, uh, passing touchdowns for the season's 13 and a half.
08:48Oh.
08:48And rushing touchdowns is three and a half.
08:51So, here's what I would say.
08:58Here's, football is amazing, right?
09:03That if the defense is terrible, Malik will go way over.
09:07Because they're always going to be playing catch-up.
09:10And, and that's the thing.
09:11Sometimes teams with bad records could have great performances simply because the games
09:21that are required of them to play to keep it close.
09:25So, I would say over on yards.
09:29Okay.
09:30Um.
09:32Last year, uh, that would have put, if he hits his, if he hits that, that would have put
09:38him at.
09:4020th?
09:41I think it was even more than that last year.
09:44Let's see.
09:45Um.
09:50No.
09:50Hold on.
09:51My order got screwed up here.
09:52I'll get it back in a second.
09:53My computer's being slow.
09:54I would, I would guess somewhere around 20, between 20 and 25.
10:00Yeah.
10:01Probably something like that.
10:02I think Bryce Young was like the last guy who, oh, here we go.
10:06Bryce Young had 3,000, just a little over 3,000 on the dot.
10:11And where was he?
10:13Uh, why isn't it ranking all my stuff here?
10:16This is so stupid.
10:19I don't know.
10:20ESPN's being dumb right now.
10:21Hold on.
10:22I'll try my, uh.
10:23So, I'll try my desktop.
10:28So.
10:29Yeah.
10:30But he's a scoge there.
10:31What about 13 and a half touchdowns, though?
10:33Yeah.
10:34That, like, dude, you know how hard it is for a quarterback to only throw 13 touchdowns?
10:41You gotta be god awful.
10:43So, last year, Bryce Young, uh, was 3,011.
10:49And that put him at 21st.
10:51Then it was Tua, who was 26.
10:54Yeah, but he got benched and didn't play.
10:57He played 14 games.
10:59Right.
10:59So, Malik Willis, a full season.
11:01Like, he should be over that, right?
11:02Right.
11:02Correct.
11:03Correct.
11:04Correct.
11:04And I would say.
11:06Because even the Dolphins were, like, were lacking weapons by the end of the year.
11:10They had Darren Waller and Jalen Waddle.
11:12I would also say one of the other things that is a little tricky with the pass touchdowns.
11:21Mm-hmm.
11:22Is that he runs the ball sometimes.
11:23And what happens if they get in the goal line and he runs it in?
11:28Yeah.
11:30Uh, 13.
11:31All right.
11:32So, here's who had 13 touchdowns.
11:35So, 3,000 to get you 20 to 25.
11:38Mm-hmm.
11:39Cam Ward had 15 last year.
11:41He was 25th.
11:42And they had nobody.
11:44Joe Flacco had 15 in 13 games.
11:48Joe Boudreau had 17 in 8 games.
11:50Enough of this guy already, though.
11:52You know what I'm saying?
11:52Mac Jones had 13 touchdowns in 11 games.
11:58J.J. McCarthy had 11 touchdowns in 10 games.
12:01Right.
12:01So, think about that.
12:02J.J. McCarthy lost his job.
12:05And he still had 11 touchdowns.
12:08Now, keep in mind, he was thrown to Justin Jefferson.
12:11That guy's good.
12:12Yeah.
12:13That guy's good.
12:14But, I mean, what led the – there wasn't even really a big number that led the league last year,
12:19right?
12:20Nobody got to 40.
12:22Stafford did.
12:23Stafford did.
12:24Okay.
12:24Yeah.
12:24Oh, yeah.
12:25Ooh.
12:25I'm sorry, Stafford.
12:27Yeah, he had 46.
12:28But he was the only guy to crack 40.
12:30Right.
12:30Then it was Jared Goff, 34.
12:32And Drake made 31.
12:35Right.
12:36So, I feel like he could hit the – I don't know.
12:40I feel like –
12:40I feel like if you're a starting quarterback –
12:44I would say if you're a starting quarterback in the NFL,
12:48for all 17 games, you have to be able to have more than 13 touchdowns.
12:55Otherwise, the questions that we'll have about him at the end of the year
13:00are going to still be there.
13:02Right?
13:0413 touchdowns for a quarterback?
13:06Throwing the ball 30 times a game?
13:08His rushing touchdowns are three and a half.
13:16Yeah, like –
13:17Four rushing touchdowns, 14 passing touchdowns, and 3,000 yards.
13:25That sounds like an over trifecta.
13:27I think, yeah.
13:28I think he could hit those.
13:30Again, I would say the only thing that would keep me away from his rushing
13:36touchdowns is A-chan.
13:40Right.
13:41Like, as we've seen, they're really comfortable with keeping him
13:43out of the loop and running the football.
13:46You
